It's funny like how in this episode Kanan has to deal with Hera 'drunk' though when they met was the other way around.

Definitely wasn't expecting THAT to happen.

But in fairness, ya'll, and as respectfully as I can mange: Yoda stating the 'Luke will be the last of the Jedi' in Ep. VI always seemed pretty unambiguous to me. I knew it would happen, the question for me was 'how.' It was definitely quite epic and put new meaning to the phrase 'going out in a blaze of glory.'

The biggest consolation for me is that
Thrawn seems about ready to murder Pryce in the following episode. Now we know how the TIE Defender Project got shut down, and the Rebels didn't even need to fire a shot. HAH!

Because Yoda and Obi-Wan did not lie their butts off to Luke.

And the Falcon could not have disappeared because no ship that small has a cloaking device.....Scimitar and Stealth Ship that ran the Christophsis blockade were that size. Not to mention Ruhk is person sized and has one.

Just because someone says a line in a movie does not make it the be all end all.

Yuh-huh, could you be a little more condescending? 'Cause I'm not too good with subtlety. :)

How did they lie their butts off to Luke?

O-W and Yoda didn't lie about Vader, if anything the truth was as painful for them as it was to him and identifying Vader and Anakin as two different people is a truth which helps them cope, a truth which he himself accepted and why he attempted to redeem not Vader but Anakin Skywalker; what, were they supposed to come out with how much of a monster Skywalker became in ROTS, Luke would've been in denial, he could've wound up hating himself. Killing children and strangling his own wife because of the thought that she might've been unfaithful?

Obi-Wan told Luke when he met his father he was a skilled pilot and a cunning warrior and Vader betrayed and murdered his father. Blatant lies to manipulate Luke into training to be a Jedi so he could go out and kill Vader. Yoda went along with these lies for the same reasons

Neither Obi-Wan nor Yoda believed Anakin could be redeemed...Luke was a weapon to them to be used against the Sith....to be sent out to kill his own father and never be told the truth.

What part of that wasn't true?

The part where he wasn't that...he was a 9 year old kid, a slave and a pod racer. They built up the image of Anakin to Luke of this great and noble hero cut down by someone he thought of as a friend instead of saying "sorry to tell you this but your father turned out to be a genocidal, slave driving nutjob."

But as a young man, Anakin was a skilled pilot as well as a cunning leader on the battlefield. The only part of OBI's statement to Luke that wasn't true was that he was "murdered" by Vader.

We'll never hear the end of this if they leave Ezra and Ahsoka's fates open-ended. :D

As far as I'm concerned, Ahsoka's already dead. Or may as well be. If she's alive in some other world or lives as a quasi-spirit it doesn't count. She's not walking around and kicking stormtrooper shebs or contributing to the fight in any way.

Vader probably killed her, we're just going to see how he did it in the finale.

It's funny, I didn't feel anything when Kanan died but Ahsoka's final scene always tugs at my heartstrings.

Honestly, it wasn't Ahsoka's final scene in the TOTA episode that got to me as much as the ending of "The Wrong Jedi" episode in TCW. Five complete seasons of watching her mature culminates into one climactic scene that NO ONE COULD'VE PREDICTED. Add to that the orchestral music being played in the background and the mood is properly set.

That episode was full of emotional moments. Anakin curbstomping Barriss in anger was pretty Vaderish but her speech to the court always gets me because she's essentially right. The entire Jedi Order was fighting for the Dark Side. Fighting for the Dark Lord of the Sith that ruled the Republic.

LOL I'll be the one to put an end to the TCW discussion; because I could talk about those episodes until Kingdom Come, and this thread is supposed to be about the Rebels episode.

I would love to see Barriss again, older, wiser and ... lethal. It would be very strange for her to survive the ascension of the empire while in prison (I'm sure Darth Vader would be glad to personally execute her) but stranger things have happened in the canon universe

Characters do no have to die for their stories to not be open ended. I think Ahsoka and Ezra can (and will) both make it out.

I have a hard time believing Barriss lived shortly after her confession. I mean, the court was good and ready to execute Ahsoka (and cartoon courts probably don't focus on the appeal process much, rather instantaneous "justice") in short order. Her motivation was "because Jedi lost their way, and I have clear vision", not "I've fallen to the Dark Side, so I must kill Jedi!", so no Mr. Senate Get Out of Jail card for her.

Plus even if she had lived until Order 66, there's no way Darth Vader wouldn't have killed her afterwards.

You know what I really wanna know?

Kanan seemed to recognize Hera was under the influence of something pretty quick. He even had a playful name for it. Has he seen Hera bombed out of her skull before? If so, how and when? Enquiring minds want to know!

Overall I liked this episode. The only thing that I didn't really like was Kanan and Hera. Their whole jilted sitcom will they/won't they thing seemed kind of forced and stilted, especially since I was under the perception that even before the show began they were romantically involved. Seemed kinda weird that the two characters are going through this whole Niles and Daphne "I need to tell her I love her" thing. Not to be lewd, but were they just friends with benefits before or something? Also the gliders....I get that this is Star Wars and they have their own set of physics and maybe I don't know gliders well enough but I couldn't really buy them flying that far and high considering they were coming off ground level. Maybe the force was involved.

Kanan went off in a good way. That scene elevated the episode into one of the series better ones.

I really think it was a great episode, even if it was heartbreaking for me to see one of my favorite characters in the series go. I do feel that Kanan will show up again in one way or another (vision, reference, flashback, etc)...

KANAN YOU IDIOT. IF YOU HADN'T BEEN DILLY-DALLYING AROUND WITH ROMANTIC GESTURES DURING A TIME-SENSITIVE RESCUE MISSION, YOU'D STILL BE ALIVE.
