I think we all know Filoni has constructed an elaborate backstory for how Ahsoka came to the Jedi temple.
Personally I believe this episode hints that he has done the same thing for Kanan.
"Boy raised by Lothwolves for a few years, then picked up by Jedi." or something to that affect.

His homeplanet was confirmed to be Coruscant though.

Was it really? I've heard that 'The Planet where you grew up' can be portrayed as their Home Planet.
Even if Caleb was raised is first three or so years on Lothal he spent over a decade on Coruscant at the Jedi Temple.
I'm pretty sure most Jedi consider Coruscant their home because that is all they remember.
Wouldn't take much to say 'Kanan was Born on Lothal, but raised on Corscant.'

Plus I prefer this theory to 'Kanan is the wolf' which I find to be absurd even if true.

I mean that theory does have some sticking power behind it.

This episode was good on many layers. The first one was the dealing with the grief of lose and the finding of purpose. Then Ruhk becoming invisible like the Predator to fight Sabine and Zeb was pretty good. Then the whole force thing and the Jedi Temple make the next to Monday's very intriguing to watch

Man, amazing setup for what’s coming. Ezra’s scenes were mysterious and had me wondering what’s coming. Thrawn chewing out Pryce was great. This is the last straw for her. She caused him enough problems at the end of the Thrawn novel and now she does this. Right when he goes to see the Emperor about his Defender project.

Even though Thrawn had very little screen time it was greatly used.

Was that the first time in the series that Krennic's name was mentioned? I don't remember his name being mentioned before Thrawn mentions it to Tarkin.

According to the episode guide, the episodes were originally titled Ascension: Part One and Part Two. [face_thinking]

Seems Filoni kept Sam Witwer around following Maul's death. I thought that one officer's voice sounded familiar. Ironic that the guy who voiced Maul gets to confirm to us that Kanan is in fact dead.

Regarding Ruhk, and why he was sent back to Capital City alive...

Returning him to Capital City alive, but defeated and painted in the Rebels' signature graffiti style, sends a defiant message that the Rebels' resolve isn't beaten despite the loss of Kanan, whom the Empire still thinks was their leader. It also shows that they're not as morally depraved as the Empire and don't kill unnecessarily. This harkens back to Mon Mothma's argument with Saw Gerrera earlier in the season.

I doubt the Rebels have sufficient equipment or facilities to hold a prisoner as wily as Ruhk for long, and if he were to escape captivity then he could lead the Empire to their base, gain damaging intelligence or who knows what. And frankly, what would the goal be anyway in taking him prisoner? The Empire isn't going to negotiate for his release. I would also expect Thrawn to have safeguards in place for when his lackeys get captured, even if he thought it was unlikely.

My only real gripe with the episode was Zeb's childish moment of being afraid of Ruhk, other than that it was fantastic emotional episode.

"I am DUME." So, Caleb's last name was the same as Lothal's Bendu-like being?

Had some interesting moments but this was a bit of a step down from Jedi Night, not helped by the somewhat cringeworthy fight and resolution with Rukh. The stealth field was cool, but it didn't seem to occur to them that he'd just wake up, wipe the paint off, and come back twice as pissed...

I mean Zeb beat him near to death so I do not think he was waking up anytime soon.

Well, my five year old was quite upset that "mommy's boyfriend" died. :_| He also thinks the wolf with the blue eyes is Kanan and quite instant about it - he was telling me today, "Don't be upset Mama, the big wolf is Kanan." God, I hope so, little man. I really hope so, but I'm not counting on it.
BTW, where is Kanan's saber now? I knew when he lost the saber, things were going to go south.

Hera takes it back from Pryce. And she still has it by Endor.

She still talks to it. Feeds it. Holds it. Makes wedding plans with it. Has a permanent grin plastered on her face.

The others don't dare speak of her behavior within earshot.

It'll be interesting to see how other SW media explores Hera's mindset following the events of the finale.

    Watched this last night...

I don't think the wolf is necessarily Kanan. Not in the sense the average person would think where the wolf is just the soul or essence of Kanan now in a new physical/metaphysical form. No, I think the wolf is more just The Force itself rather than having a specific entity indwelt within--the Force which Kanan is now a part of. So in part, the wolf is Kanan--perhaps his personality can sometimes manifest within the wolf's form, but for the most part the Wolf is The Force.
