Well, the smoke causes cancer argument can easily be circumvented, namely, you can make tea with it, jam, cookies, or vaporise it, so that would make it safe for that. As for the psychotic condition, yea, I knew that, but that only happens if you are vunerable for psychosis. It's sort of like people who have an alcoholic gene, that's no reason to prohibit it though, just make sure that people who have psychotic tendencies do not smoke it (too much).

All in all, acceptable dangers of which I was aware. I should also point out that the second highest cause of mouth cancer is ... tudum, alcohol.

You misunderstand. I'm not saying that the stuff produced during the drug use years wasn't great, because a lot of it is. But it isn't universally great and they did produce some pieces of crap alongside some gems. I mean, the Beatles come back from India and George writes Blackbird while Paul comes up with Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da showing the extremes of their abilties at that point. And let's not forget the whole drugs era goes hand in hand with the Yoko era.

Wish I could, wish I could...

    However:
    Blackbird by The Beatles
Songfacts: Paul McCartney wrote this about the civil rights struggle for blacks after reading about race riots in the US. Only 3 things were recorded: Paul's voice, his acoustic guitar, and a tapping. According to the video The Complete Beatles, the tap was not a foot or metronome - the Master was intentionally scratched. If you listen closely you will notice that is sounds like a scratch on a record. Birds were dubbed in later.

I'd say: the pot was okay. It was heroin killed the Beatles.

I thought George wrote Blackbird. I stand corrected.

Except, it being illegal didn't stop your drink from being spiked, so how is that law effective?

No, definately not the equivalent of coke, but oftentimes a transition to it. Someone made a good point; the same persons who give you access to pot are the same ones encouraging you to try harder drugs. By extension, you might guess that under the influence of marijuana (or any drug/alcohol for that matter) and in certain settings, you would be more apt to try the "harder" narcotics.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. My niece was a user of a variety of different drugs, and they almost destroyed her life. Everyone I know that has been a marijuana user has been a user of other drugs as well (and I'm not saying that everyone who uses marijuana also uses harder drugs). Besides, I come from law enforcement, so my view will never be the same as yours.

You don't need to be getting so worked up over other people's opinions. My advice-have another couple doobies so you can lighten up.

An excellent reason to legalize pot, couldn't have said it better.

Note that the above only applies to those countries where it hasn't been legalized yet... :D

    *sigh*

Did you read any of the previous posts? The stepping stone theory has thoroughly been debunked for years now. It's just, not true. Furthmore, most dealers that deal pot do not deal any harder stuff, they just don't. Trust me, I know PLENTY of dealers, some are even friends. Okay, I know one guy that deals LSD as well ... guess what ... he doesn't deal in pot.

Hell, under the current law, I'm a dealer because I sometimes act as a middle-man for people. :0

As Watto said, it's actually an argument FOR legalization, since that would never happen if weed were legal. Also, it would be a lot safer since now there's bastards that actually put glass shards into the weed because it gives it more weight and causes a "THC-shine".

That actually can damage your lungs quite severly.

So why not take it out of the underground, take away funding for criminals and make it safe for the millions of people who use it? You're never going to stop use, might as well take away the DANGERS to population.

That's right, keeping marijuana illegal is actually worse than making it legal.

Yea, see, that's the problem. You're taking one of those cases of people who want to use drugs, and then project the idea on it that, because she used weed, she went on to harder stuff. Not true, had there been no such thing as weed, she would've used the rest as well.

I know plenty of people who smoke weed, actually, from my senior class in high school, it was 18 smokers vs 3 non-smokers, of whome 2 later did try it :0 . Just about everybody I know smokes from time to time and quite a few regulary.

    Now here's the kicker.

Only one of 'm has gone on to harder drugs, and even that one needed an enviroment where he was a) in a foreign country. b) living with GANG members.

    Holy ****

I'm not quite as worked up as I may appear on the internet. I'm just pissed at reading stupidity on the internet, and mainly because that is the exact type of stupidity that means that I run the risk of getting a criminal record for no real reason at all.

This type of stupidity ruins lives needlesly. There, I said it.

Why not get worked up about it?

    My $0.02:

In my experience, people who ruin their lives with drugs are almost universally looking to ruin their lives. They're self-destructive people who go looking for a way to hurt themselves, and drugs are the means they choose. If they didn't have drugs, they'd find something else.

I've never known anyone who was well-balanced psychologically to begin with to ever have a drug problem. It's not drugs, it's depression, or some other untreated psychological disorder. Drugs are a scapegoat for people who don't want to face up to the fact that there are so many unhappy people in the world.

I must say, I have to agree, the Beatles are freaking great.

SuperWatto, what was your blackbird story about? That the tapping on blackbird wasn't really Paul tapping his foot? Wha?

    cute. (not sarcastic)

O.K. then, well I suppose the 'con' would be I can not go to work smelling like pot. I don't want to lose my job.
My roommate's girlfriend thinks just cuz we rent a house she can have parties any time.
Drinking? Great. Bon fire in the pit out back? Why not!
BUT DON'T LIGHT UP in my house. Please. I don't care if they, you, or whoever does what, fine, have a blast, but not around me, thank you. My choice.
It's about 9-10 years ago I got in trouble over it (with my parents, not the law) and so I said "**** it, it's not for me"

un.. dunno if that really is an agruement to your liking, I'm not very good at this.

Sorry Ender, but your presupposing that Sgt Pepper's was only possible through drug use. Which is silly.

Given that Blackbird, Helter Skelter, and Sexy Sadie were during the drug era, I think I can safely suggest that drugs were responsible for the Tate and LaBianca murders
