If the same critical criteria were applied to the OT and the first 3 IJ's films, they would have to also be deemed "bad" and "stupid." Those films had plenty of harsh (identical) criticism when they were first released. In almost an hour of droning, RLM manages to say absolutely nothing apart to point out obvious faults (many of which are shared by the OT) and exaggerate. Everyone sees something different in a film. This is the stifling voice of a critic, a mind that cannot tolerate the existence of anything they cannot appreciate or understand. The same energy could be put into producing a documentary about something he loves. What he actually did is a waste of time & effort, and dwells on the negative. I doubt his reviews have yet to inspire anyone, anywhere, the opposite of what Lucas does. Say what you will about his films, he inspires millions of people, and most of his films are uplifting, or meant to be uplifting. That's a life well lived. In 20 years, will anyone still be watching or even know what "Mr. Plinkett" is? I seriously doubt it. Nor do I believe this person will ever create anything original that will touch the lives of millions of people, across cultures, language barriers, sexual orientations & political worldviews. That's called an achievement. It takes hard work & originality, qualities sadly lacking in RLM.
