Back in the 1990s Wizard magazine talked about her all the time in previews and stuff about her and her unborn child being strong in the force. Just wondering if anyone here still remembers Nomi Sunrider back in the day?
We're not the only ones who think about her. Tionne developed a case of hero worship towards her. I remember her and those comics. I thought those comics were detailing the first Jedi ever. Well, anyways, I'm looking forward to that novel coming out in about a year or so.
Sure, she didnt like lightsabers and instead of killing that other guy she stripped him of the force..
Not just Tionne, really. According to fallen OJO Jedi Beldorion, by the last centuries of the Republic, there were three Jedi Masters that were considered to be on a pillar above the rest: Nomi Sunrider, Thon, and Yoda. When millenia after your death you're still considered worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as Yoda, that's saying something. I mean, the entire OJO had a case of hero worship for her.
What an awesome ability that we never ever see. We got flow walking in spades. What we've needed is a good ol' Force strippin'! That has to be debatable. She was trained as an adult and she was married. Course hero worshiping her wouldn't make the OJO any more hypocritical than they already were.
I'm glad she's coming back in novel-form... How can anyone ever forget her (tragic) life, with her husband being killed and all... And I still rate the Nomi-cover of Tales of the Jedi # 3 as the one of the best Star Wars covers ever!!
I never cared for Nomi, though I have to leave in 10 minutes and don't have the time to go into why All that said, though, one of the greatest "tragedies" of the EU for me is Bastila not being Vima. Even though I dislike Nomi, I would have liked that family to be one that remains important for much of the Old Republic era. I'm actually curious what happened to Nomi and Vima before the Mandalorian Wars. Oh god, don't get me started, especially if the fan theory that she is the one who started the whole "Jedi=no marriage" practice due to her experiences with Ulic is true. As for "unusual" abilities, well, she was the center of the mass Jedi technique they used on Exar Kun... I'd certainly say destroying a planet is an unusual ability for a Jed. I love how in Jedi Vs Sith, though, the Sith basically use the same technique on a smaller scale.
I'm interested to see what happens to them in Mandorla, too. I don't like Nomi very much, but Vima was pretty interesting in Redemption. She's got potential.
Nomi who? lol, just kidding. Redemption... the only good thing KJA introduced to the EU that hasn't been made a mockery of... yet. Mandorla could still do that.
Very excited about the Nomi Sunrider book. That whole ban on using her because of a branding issue with an obscure VEHICLE was ridiculous. I hope there is some reflection on Ulic Qel-Droma- one of my favorite Star Wars characters, or some references to Tott Doneeta.
I want a story that elaborates on the life of her daughter. Seriously. Everyone forgets all about Vima Sunrider.
i did see this online. September ? Untitled Nomi Sunrider novel by Alex Irvine that is september, 2012. so its not in a few months
I remember Nomi. And, now that "Revan comes from the true Sith Empire" has been firmly quashed, and he's been established as a brown-haired white dude, I'm putting all my eggs back in the "Revan is Nomi and Ulic's love child, conceived on Rhen Var" basket. Come on Irvine, don't let me down!
