    Excellent post as always!

This does not look good. [face_worried] I really hope Qui can get to Obi, but things are looking bad. [face_praying] At least Qui can defend himself now....

Good that Siri is with her Master.:)

Looking forward to the next post.=D=

wolf_kenobi: Thanks so much for your kind words! The next post is on its way!

I told you all that I wouldn't make you wait until Wednesday! I hope you all enjoy it!

    Part 12

Ben embraced the darkness as it swirled around him, empowering him, urging him to draw upon his hatred in order to defeat the enemy before him. He had been aggressively advancing on the Jedi Master, driving him back with his vicious blows. It had been a long time since he had wielded a lightsaber and his moves were awkward and sometimes clumsy, but he was managing to keep on the offensive. The young man was determined that the Jedi scum before him would die by his own blade.

The injury that he had received only served to agitate him further. Ben was determined that the Jedi Master would know the same pain, but the agony that he would inflict upon the man would be more than just a flesh wound. He had every intention of taking the lightsaber and piercing the heart of the Jedi.

He could tell that the Jedi was beginning to tire as Ben continued to press on. As he brought his lightsaber over his head, the teen felt the lightsaber being yanked out of his hand. His quickly glanced around the arena and discovered that his weapon was now in the hands of another Jedi.

?Do not interfere,? Ben snapped at the unwelcome intruder. ?You will have to wait your turn.?

Ben studied the female Jedi as she offered a hand to her fallen comrade. He took a step back as Qui-Gon slowly rose to his feet. He was not expecting to have to face two Jedi at one time. The boy had immediately noticed that the woman was not wearing a collar like the others. Was Dernal trying to make the game more interesting?

?So, two against one, huh? I thought the Jedi were all about fairness,? he taunted. ?I guess I was wrong.?

?Ben, please listen to me,? Qui-Gon begged.

?I told you that I was through listening to you. Now you have two choices, you piece of Bantha fodder! You can continue this fight or I can simply kill you right now. I don?t need a lightsaber to finish you off.?

?Both options are unacceptable. You forgot to mention the third option,? Qui-Gon said.

    ?And that is??

?We all put down our weapons and you walk out of here with us.?

Ben?s laughter took an almost maniacal tone as it rang throughout the arena. ?I already told you that I?m not going anywhere with you!?

?Don?t you want out of this prison??

?Of course I do, but if the only way to get out is to come with you, I?d rather stay here and rot.?

?You don?t mean that,? Qui-Gon softly remarked, hoping to soothe the young man?s troubled soul.

?Yes, I do. I would kill myself before I placed myself in the hands of the rotten stinking Jedi again. Now Master Jinn, you?re disappointing the crowd.? Ben gestured wildly with his arm, spurning the spectators to curse and throw debris onto the ground, some of it barely missing the two Jedi. ?I suggest you tell your friend to leave before she gets hurt.?

?I?m not going anywhere, Ben,? the female Jedi firmly stated. ?Do you remember who I am??

?No. You better consider yourself lucky. I?ll kill you quickly,? Ben replied.

?Ben, I am Master Adi Gallia. You must listen to Qui-Gon and come with us so we can help you.?

?You can?t help me!? the youth snarled. ?I don?t want your help! I don?t need your help!?

Ben?s head was starting to ache again. He put his hand up to his head and stumbled. Quickly regaining his balance, hoping that no one caught his moment of temporary weakness, Ben let his exasperation feed into his loathing as the darkness continued to envelope him. He was distracted by the guards flocking into the fighting area, their blasters raised, prepared to eliminate the two Jedi.

?Wait!? Ben cried out. ?You can do what you want to with her, but Qui-Gon Jinn still belongs to me. I will finish what I started.?

A wicked smile danced across the lips of the young man. He knew that the Jedi had no choice. They wouldn?t take the chance of innocent

Ah ha, I found this update before you sent the PM. :D

I wonder if Obi-Wan got away from the Warden and his "treatments", would he start acting normal again? And now that it appears that the Jedi are escaping, will he get a fresh start in the Temple, or will there be complications?

Agh, who is this warden and Cordo character? I am so curious. :D

Hooray, the rescue is underway! :D

I'm thinking Qui-Gon had better tie Obi-Wan up when they get to the ship, or things could get ugly. [face_worried] Or maybe that would just make things worse. Oh dear, oh dear. :(

I'm interested in finding out the history between the warden and the captain. [face_thinking]

I hope they all make it out of there in one piece! [face_worried]

    Great update, jedidas! :D

Ahah. This update was absolutely fantastic!

It went from everything seemly all was lost, devasting me, the reader, leaving me in suspence, and then to let Siri rise to the challenge and do the unspeakable in her eyes to Obi-wan, betraying his trust even more than she already did.

Just awesome, splendid writing. =D= I definately enjoyed reading it. Thanks for such a great update! And thank you for the PM, it was always nice to see an update has been posted. :)

[face_laugh] Hey, what does one have to do to get first response?

Yikes - we're escaping, but we're not escaped. C'mon Jedidas3, don't drag it out. Save us.

While it seems Obi-Wan can't be "salvaged" what was done to him can - with love and attention - be undone. If not, you'll face the wrath of moi. ;) [face_not_talking]

Basically, at this point, I'd like to say: good grief, woman, what are you doing to us the poor readers? And Obi? And Siri etal? [face_shame_on_you]

Another great update, to be serious for once.

I'm so happy to see that Siri and Obi-Wan will finally be getting out of that prison. Hopefully once they return to the Temple Obi-Wan will finally remember his past, but I'm guessing it will be a long road.

?Hello, Warden Dernal,? the pilot sneered. ?It?s been a long time??

I'm curious to hear the story behind that. [face_thinking]

I'm glad to see that Obi-Wan is being rescued, even if he doesn't want to be. And both Siri and Qui aren't hurt too badly. I bet Obi will be pretty darn mad when he wakes up.

Ah, so the pilot has his own agenda. I wonder what happened to him that he'd want to see the warden so much.

    Great job.

Well, on their way to home free. Just have to get Adi out of there. I guess the Jedi aren't the only ones with a plan, seems the pilot wants revenge on the warden or is that just a distraction?

In any case, they must all reach the ship and fly away. ;)

    Relief is a wonderful feeling. :p :D

    I hope they can rehabilitate Obi-Wan. [face_praying]

Once they get away, Adi and Qui-Gon will probably sit Siri down and ask for details. The poor girl. :(

Thanks for the PM I have been away, and I hoped that when I got back you would have written the rescue. Well done and I hope Qui-Gon can help Obi-Wan.

    I loved this bit.o_O
The alarm sounded and he could hear the pandemonium breaking out in the arena. As soon as the guards exited the Warden?s private box, he stepped inside the doorway. Cordo smiled and greeted the Warden, quickly deciding that there weren?t enough Republic credits in the galaxy to pay for the expression on Dernal?s face when he recognized the smuggler.

?Hello, Warden Dernal,? the pilot sneered. ?It?s been a long time??

Of course, there will be complications! [face_laugh] ;)

Agh, who is this warden and Cordo character? I am so curious.

More will be revealed soon...I promise.

Quigonjecca: Thanks so much for your kind words.[:D]

Obi-Wan is not going to be very happy when he wakes up...[face_worried]

I'm interested in finding out the history between the warden and the captain.

MOre will be revealed in time.

I hope they all make it out of there in one piece!

They will be relatively intact...for now. ;)

Cole_Kenobi: It went from everything seemly all was lost, devasting me, the reader, leaving me in suspence, and then to let Siri rise to the challenge and do the unspeakable in her eyes to Obi-wan, betraying his trust even more than she already did.

In his eyes, that is exactly what Siri has done and that will continue to fuel Obi-Wan's anger and resentment towards the Jedi.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad that you're enjoying this story![:D]

    Valairy_Scot: Yikes - we're escaping, but we're not escaped. C'mon Jedidas3, don't drag it out. Save us.

While it seems Obi-Wan can't be "salvaged" what was done to him can - with love and attention - be undone. If not, you'll face the wrath of moi.

That's scary...Talk about motivation to write a happy ending! [face_laugh]

Cordo has his own agenda...that's for certain. As far as Obi-Wan, time will tell. Thanks so much for reading.

The problem is that there are some things that Siri doesn't even know about. [face_worried]

Thank you so much for reading and thank you for the incredible update on "Not Myself." It's such a wonderful story.

Gkilkenny: Welcome back! [:D] I'm so glad you're enjoying the story.

I know it is sadistic, however I hope Cordo buries Dernal six feet under.

Nope, it's not too sadistic. That's what Cordo wants to do, but will he will be convinced by the Jedi to keep him alive.

    Part 13

Cordo Mangan drew his weapon. Keeping it trained on the Warden, the smuggler confidently sauntered over to Dernal and quickly disarmed the man. Cordo took pleasure in the fact that his mere presence was obviously causing the Warden great distress.

?Something wrong, Warden Dernal?? the pilot inquired, a sardonic edge to his tone that seemed to almost make the jailer tremble.

?What are you doing here?? Dernal snarled, unintentionally backing himself against a wall.

?I made you a promise years ago, Dernal. Do you remember what I said??

The pilot glared at the cowering man when he didn?t receive an answer. ?Let me see if I can jar your memory.? Cordo pressed his blaster against the Warden?s temple, his finger barely on the trigger. ?Is anything coming back to you now??

?I don?t?know what you want me to say,? the Warden stammered as a thin sheen of sweat appeared across his forehead.

?Let me help you then,? Cordo replied. ?I promised you that once I was out of here that I would hunt you down and kill you for what you did to me. Do you remember that??

    ?Yes,? Dernal whispered.

?Good.? Cordo took a step back and aimed his blaster at Dernal?s chest. ?At least you won?t be wondering why you died.?

?Don?t do this,? the Warden begged. ?Please don?t kill me.?

?It?s far too late to try and make amends, Dernal.? Cordo?s finger was about to pull the trigger when he heard Adi Gallia call out to him. He should have made her leave when he first got there, but he was so consumed with the idea of delivering his own brand of justice, he forgot about her being there.

?Cordo, don?t do this!? she cried out. ?We don?t have time for this. We have to get out of here before everybody realizes what has happened.?

?I?ve been waiting too long for this, Master Gallia. I?m not about to give up the chance to settle an old score,? the pilot argued.

?Please,? she desperately pleaded. ?Now is not the time!?

?Now is the perfect time, Master Gallia. You know the saying; there?s no better time like the present.?

?You should listen to her,? the Warden eagerly urged.

?You have no say in the matter,? Mangan interjected.

He almost laughed when he saw the Warden silently beseeching the Jedi to help him. Cordo could hear the fear in Dernal?s voice when he finally addressed Master Gallia.

?I can help you,? the Warden blurted out. ?I can help the boy.?

?What?? Adi wasn?t sure that she had heard the Warden correctly.

?I can help the boy, but not if I?m dead.?

The pilot did not have to look at the Jedi Master to know that she was staring at him.

?If there?s a chance that?s he?s telling the truth,? she began, ?then you can?t kill him.?

?There?s no chance. That boy is lost. He can?t be helped,? the smuggler argued. ?Believe me I know.?

?Don?t take away the only opportunity that Obi-Wan may have to get his life back,? implored the Jedi Master.

Cordo hated the voice of reasoning inside his mind that was insisting on listening to the Jedi Master. He roughly grabbed the Warden by his arm and pushed him towards Adi.

?Release her bonds,? the pilot instructed, ?including the Force inhibitor.?

He watched Dernal as he fumbled with the binders and the collar, freeing the captive Jedi. The pilot also noticed that as soon as the collar was off the Jedi Master, she inhaled sharply and then quickly collected herself.

?Are you all right?? Cordo asked his temporary crewman.

?I am now. Let?s get out of here.?

    ?We?re right behind you.?

Mangan ignored the perplexed stare of Master Gallia as he took the binders and placed them around the wrists of the Warden. He then grabbed him by the arm and once again, held the barrel of his blaster firmly a

    Wonderful!

So Qui is beginning to realize that it's going to take work to bring his Obi-Wan back - if such is even possible. At least Siri is alive to explain some things, and Adi seems to understand that Obi-Wan was brainwashed into that behavior.

Hopefully with lots of TLC Obi-Wan will be "brought back" and he'll learn to accept that what he did was imposed on him by others and as such, not his fault.

But now comes the hard part, fixing Obi! If he can be fixed! :_|

Had he actually dared to assume that everything would be back to normal as soon as Obi-Wan was free? Qui-Gon shook his head and sighed in deep frustration. He began to wonder if he would be able to get his Padawan back and if things would ever be like they used to be. :_|
