ANH is currently 4th on my list (of six movies that I love and treasure each and every one of lol), but I always really enjoy the way that April describes Things That Happen In Star Wars.

LOL, thanks Penny. Sometimes I just really feel like the fandom at large does not appreciate how funny Star Wars is, and I'm not talking about the times it intentionally tries to make a joke. I can't explain it, really: these characters and the insane situations they get into are just...humorous to me. I find it really endearing. (I mean except for all the times Star Wars does stuff like "HEY AMJ CHECK THIS OUT: Obi-Wan has to mow down the clones he and Anakin have fought alongside for the last few years in order to get back into the Temple! And he's going to discover all kinds of MORE horrible stuff once he gets inside! LOL!" Although we all know that I'm here for the Sad, so, it's all good.)

I do remember when I first saw Vader in that scene my wee mind almost exploded.

 

I'll be honest. ANH is smacked dab right in the middle for me. I don't hate it and I don't love it. I think it's incredibly overrated but it works really well. Has SW transcended beyond this film. Of course. Who could've imagined in 1977 that Vader was a tragic hero? The SW universe has expanded so far from ANH that it's actually kinda crazy. But the film does have that charm 1977 cheese to it that just can't be replicated and it works fine. Do I do think it deserves an Oscar for its characters, plot, story, mythos? No. Not at all. Was it a fun blockbuster film of the time? Hell yeah it was!

 

I honestly love that this is his entrance here.

Like, if anyone watching has ANY DOUBT that Anakin Skywalker is still alive inside that suit, NO WORRIES GUYS HE IS DEFINITELY STILL IN THERE.
