I actually saw TFA Thursday night at 10 or 11 pm (I forget which) and there was about 1/8 of the theater filled. T'was nice. Thats what I'm hoping I can do again

OMG I've realized there's only a little over 2 months to go. WHY DID I THINK THERE WAS LIKE 4 MONTHS OR SOMETHING.

 

Wait, you went to TFA at 10 AM on opening Friday, AMJ? So did I! So are we TFA Synchronization buddies?

 

What if we all synced up to watch RO in the theater at the same time and managed to liveblog in this thread our first reactions together.

I have a hard time imagining a SW movie or show that wouldn't interest me at this point. I may not love it, but I'm still too curious to not see it. (Though I do think/hope I'll like Rogue One.)

I spoiled the entire film for myself so I'd read that a smug, kinda weak trash compactor joke was in there. Nevertheless, I groaned. Or more accurately, I made a face at my husband and he was like LOL WOW.

I am sure this is tantamount to saying Ewan was "bad" in Star Wars for some, so I get it if people need to tune me out here (it's fine I don't need the smug commentary), but I just...I dunno. I like Harrison Ford a lot but I did NOT get the gushing for him in TFA. Please don't pelt me with tomatoes. I don't hate Han Solo or anything...I just wasn't seeing the Great Amazing Delivery in this one that many others evidently saw. I kept seeing stuff about how "Ford really sells the emotion in this one!" and I...I dunno. I don't even blame him at all, but I don't think Harrison Ford even LIKES Star Wars. And I felt like it showed here, kinda. IT'S FINE I'M LEAVING NOW.

 

Well I liked the prequels so nothing could be much worse.

 

He looked very, very tired, and I was never sure whether it was Han or Harrison who was tired.

 

I think I read that correctly

 

Funny thing is, the last 2 films I saw in the theater both had Harrison Ford in them. The other in question was 42 (the Jackie Robinson biopic), and Ford played the role of Dodgers executive Branch Rickey, who was responsible for signing Jackie Robinson.

This is the best description I can think of. It's entirely possible others read this as "tired Han". I read it as "when will these geeks leave me alone".

For me I read it as tired Han, but I also saw tired Leia.

But I don't think he was any worse or better than he was in the other 3.

See, with Leia I bought the performance as Leia being tired, not Carrie. Which I suppose says something about Harrison in comparison.
