No fooling, you mean Robert Iger or the Disney Board of Directors didn't write it?!

I think Sony Classical still owns the first six Star Wars soundtracks, but I agree, it'd be nice to have two-disc sets for the PT soundtracks, especially ROTS. The CD's I have are too short and incomplete.

But I don't believe we'll get extended versions of the AOTC or ROTS soundtracks anytime soon, unfortunately.

CIS Droid We need more diversity, why don't you just throw in some Duros next time. Neimodians just don't do it for me anymore.

 

The Hobbit has always been a favourite to me, although I find LOTR a bit of a slog.


My favourite book now is probably The Myst Reader, 3 novels combined about the Myst series. They just cover so much, with vibrant and realistic characters, vivid landscapes and locations, and fascinating plots.


I also really like Alien Bodies, a Doctor Who novel brimming with ideas.

 

ANOTHER is a great novel.

Lawrence of Arabia is one that I am reading...

I have some others I can't remember but these are all.

Oh, and the pillow book.

Am I really having to argue why I think Zack Snyder is a more visionary director than JJ Abrams? Abrams is a good filmmaker but 'visionary' is one of the last words I'd use to describe him.

Cinema Paradiso is one of my favorites too! It is the best love letter to the movies.

My most favorites though are:

troi coleurs: Bleu (Three Colors: Blue) Definitely one of the best directors the world has seen, Krzysztof Kieslowski. Bleu is the first in a trilogy, there's also a great tv miniseries, Dekalog (The Decalogue) and a feature film, The Double Life of Veronique.
In the Mood for Love and Chungking Express by Wong Kar-wai.
Hero starring Jet Li. Every shot is extreme beauty.
The Seventh Seal and most other Ingmar Bergman films.
Iron Monkey
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and I just saw the sequel, Sword of Destiny which was alotta fun but more like Iron Monkey than CT,HD(not a bad thing).
Seven Samurai and Rashomon by Kurosawa. Also, especially for those who complain that TFA doesn't have a very original plot, all you SW fans need to watch Hidden Fortress, the film GL swiped the plot for ANH from.

Those are my most favorites. There are many more that I like or that are sorta foreign(or partially) made but english language films.

 

darskpine10 ho is LoTR a slog?

 

I just find the first half of Fellowship overly long and tedious. It takes them about 9 chapters just to get to Bree! The seconf half is much more enjoyable though, once the Fellowship departs Rivendell.

I much prefer Two Towers and Return, which is almost the opposite of how I fell about the films. Return does have a rather protracted ending, but it's still a nice read.

Yeah, Fellowship is a bit of a slog. Great book though. Havent read it in a couple of years though, but im gonna re-read the book trilogy soon. Re-read Hobbit a couple of weeks ago, so i will read the others as well.

Frank T. Even if he did rip it off word for word, Hidden Fortress isn't a prior entry in the Star Wars saga and that makes a difference imo

 

ANH isn't a ripoff of Hidden Fortress anyway. They have their share of similarities, but not anywhere to what TFA has with ANH.

I love The Hobbit and the LotR books. And the films too, The Fellowship of the Ring is my fave.

I also love Kurosawa, and yes GL borrowed a lot from The Hidden Fortress in ANH.

Btw, I like ZS and JJ A. Both great directors.
