You know I wonder what they’ll do for the 50th anniversary.

If you mean the 50th of ANH, that's an interesting question. They're having a big Celebration in L.A. in April, and I wouldn't be surprised if Disney decided to release a fully cleaned up & remastered version of the original pre-SE version of the movie, as in not even having the episode number & title in the prologue. George Lucas might not like it, but there would probably be a big return at the box office.
If you mean the 50th of ROTS, all I can figure is that it'll be in theaters and I'll be there, albeit using a walker.

My first two showings were pretty packed and no one was disrespectful but my third viewing had like 5 people total with a few teens above us doing that cornball ****. Luckily it wasn’t for every “meme” but that really made me realize ironic nerd humor is insufferable.

I feel that; I quietly cheered and clapped at few scenes. I did it, when mace died and the Anakin killing kids.

I guess I won't get destroyed for a dp, considering the time between each post.

Anyone noticed something different within the film, when viewing it this time around?

In the scene on Utapau, when Obi-Wan calls Boga, in the background is a Pau'an walking a huge spider on a leash. I had never noticed that, until I saw it with my mom (which was on my 2nd viewing in a theater)

During my most recent re-watch, I noticed the mouth replacement effects for the first time. Overdubbing and editing is one thing, but I had no idea they full-on replaced Hayden's mouth to insert alternate dialogue before. It's almost invisible. Almost.

And yeah, I didn't see the huge spider on Utapau until real recently, too. There's always something new to find in the backgrounds of the PT planets!

So...back on topic...:p (and thank you @Dandelo for the instructions on how to fix the memes in my earlier post :- ) )

I have read about audiences laughing or cheering during the younglings scene due to the effects of all the memes. For me, the scene has always still felt completely tragic (both on home viewings since ROTS was first released and in last week's theater viewings), but maybe I just wasn't affected because though I have certainly seen some ROTS memes over the years, I'm not really familiar with ones related to the younglings scene.

But I definitely was cheering and grinning with delight when I first saw Vader's hallway massacre of the Rebels in Rogue One, both on my first viewing in the theater and in subsequent home viewings. I think I remember someone telling me that GL once said somewhere that he included the younglings scene in ROTS precisely because he didn't want fans to feel like they were rooting on "badass Vader destroying Jedi" and he felt like having Anakin kill children would prevent that.

So I wonder if GL was disappointed (or would be, if he was never aware of it) that a lot of fans (including me) had that reaction to the scene in Rogue One (though of course the larger context and focus of the Rogue One story is completely different than that of ROTS, along with the ways those specific respective scenes are presented in each film).

Seeing ROTS again in the cinema is a really interesting experience. I liked the film well enough when it was first released, but I was very cognisant of some of the issues e.g. Padme having less agency, some pacing problems in the first half of the film. ROTS is a bit like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for me... in that the first half seems to be in such a rush to get to the 'better bit', that the first half almost feels like it's going through the motions. In terms of Last Crusade, it's when Sean Connery is introduced... and the film is then launched into being a great film. In ROTS it's the Anakin/Palpatine at the opera scene, where the film takes a turn and is elevated into another class from that point.

Seeing the film some 20 years later on the big screen (although I've watched it many times at home), one is less agitated by some of the less elements and it becomes more of a 'total experience'. Also to note, I went midweek and the cinema was packed. The person scanning tickets said that ROTS had been the most popular film that week. Amazing really.

I do not know how to do that for Imgur just use IMG BB and select BBcode full copy the link and presto your down. Note it’s a free service so they’ll try to slide in advertising but you can easily delete that

The "you're shorter than I expected" bit of his response to Grievous, and then his hesitant, "I don't, er..." during the opera scene. Feels like the first is a replacement for whatever the original snarky gag was, whilst the other is an extending edit of the following line, to emphasise Anakin's uncertainty.

They're nowhere near as noticeable as, "You underestimate my power!" but I'm still astonished that they managed to hide in plain sight for almost twenty years!

It's funny that 20 real years have passed since ROTS just like in the context of ANH where the fall of the Jedi and the birth of the Empire happened 20 years ago too it feels more realistic

Man I am excited that the movie was good at the box office when it came out for a week. I am very happy the movie crossed the $400 million marker and the $900 million worldwide. This movie with a good re-release will definitely make a billion unadjusted. Now the one that I would like to see cross that milestone is Star Wars A New Hope. With a good worldwide release the movie that started it all could go over a billion worldwide

As I've posted elsewhere, I'm figuring they'll re-release the original in 2027. I'm wondering if they'll go with the SE version or use a fully-remastered version of the 1977 original.
