Sounds awesome. Let's not be so sensitive. They were clearly just being silly with their "there won't be a prequel trilogy" comment.

I actually do hope for more PT humor in part 3. The youngling slaughter/naboo fields scene and the Jar Jar scenes are some of my favorites from the first two episodes.

Adult Swim Hatches Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III

    Follow-up to Emmy-nominated specials premieres December 12

Seth Green, Matthew Senreich and other members of the Robot Chicken team will be at Celebration V in Orlando, Florida, August 12-15th. See more information here about the big event!

Adult Swim's Robot Chicken returns to that galaxy far, far away for a brand-new Star Wars-themed special premiering December 12 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). This third installment in the Robot Chicken: Star Wars trilogy follows the two previous specials, which resulted in multiple Emmy nominations and numerous Annie Awards for both specials, the writers, Ahmed Best for voice actor and Seth Green for directing. Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III, to be directed by Chris McKay, marries the satirical sensibilities of Green and Matthew Senreich's (Stoopid Monkey Productions) Emmy-winning Robot Chicken with characters of the Star Wars universe. The specials and the Robot Chicken series, the highest-rated original program on Adult Swim, are created in conjunction with ShadowMachine Films' Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico.

"We're telling more of a linear story this time that covers the series from start to finish," says Green. Senreich says, "We wanted to take the Star Wars universe and see if through the eyes of our Robot Chicken: Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper. We'll still flip around the universe but we'll get a unique perspective from the bad guy side, from people who just want to rule the universe."

Robot Chicken: Star wars Episode III will feature Zac Efron as Anakin Skywalker, Anthony Daniels (from the original Star Wars films) as C-3PO, Mike Henry (The Cleveland Show) and Donald Glover (Community), all making their first appearance in RCSW. Also returning from the previous specials are Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks along with returning favorites Green, Senreich, Breckin Meyer, Seth MacFarlane, Dan Milano, Abe Benrubi, Donald Faison, Rachael Leigh Cook, Adrianne Pallicki, Eden Espinosa, Hugh Davidson, Bob Bergen, Keith Ferguson, Tom Kane and Zeb Wells.

In addition, Adult Swim announces that Robot Chicken will begin airing season five in late October.

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III, is created and executive produced by Green and Senreich under their own Stoopid Monkey Productions. The duo also write and, with McKay, direct the series, and Green provides many of the voices in the special and the series. The special is written by series head writers/executive producers Douglas Goldstein and Tom Root, series scribes Mike Fasolo, Wells, Green, Senreich, frequent RC actor/writer Breckin Meyer (TNT's Franklin & Bash), and Hugh Sterbakov with Matthew Beans, RC guest writers Davidson, Geoff Johns, Milano and Kevin Shinick.

Green has starred in films for over two decades -- next March he's the lead in Disney's Mars Needs Moms! He's also on Fox's Family Guy. Senreich and Green are creative consultants on Lucasfilm's upcoming animated comedic Star Wars series and with Root, are creators/executive producers/writers of an animated pilot for Fox.

Sounds great! I was wondering how they would do a Jedi-centric episode given that they've already done so many Jedi-themed bits in the first two (Boba in the Sarlacc, Emperor/Luke/Vader on DS2, etc). This sounds like a good approach- because, let's face it, we can never get enough of Seth's Emperor [face_laugh].

Also, is that the first time Green has been mentioned as a "creative consultant" for the new series, as opposed to writer/producer/whatever?

I can't help but note Carrie Fisher seems to have opted out for this according to the cast list. But Zac Effron as Anakin Skywalker is a very interesting casting choice.

I also can't help but note the claim that III will be a linear story, didn't they say that about SW:RC II? So unless this is going to be a completely linear episode, which I'm not sure will work very well with the style of humour Robot Chicken portrays, I won't be expecting to see too much of Darth, Palpatine or Gary.

Looking forward to December 12th! :D

They didn't say RCSW2 was linear, just that it was themed around/focused on the bounty hunters- which it did (hiring them, what they did, etc).

Here I think what they're saying is that, while it will still be skit based and jump around the saga, that there will be a through-line plot/POV with vader, Palps or Gary for most skits.

As for Fisher- maybe they just didn't have any Leia skits or ones with enough lines to warrant bringing her in/she was busy?

I swear I remember reading an interview with Seth Green in SW: Insider about how RCSWII was going to have a central storyline and be quite linear in it's approach, an idea that had me fairly worried upon reading it.

I may be wrong though. ;)

I really hope it's because of a lack of Leia skits rather than anything else. I'll be gutted if they get a poor impersonator in. As much as I love Catherine Taber as Padme I thought her Leia in TFU was horrendous.

Personally I think Zefron as Anakin is a hilarious idea for a number of reasons, but I have this sneaking suspicion that older fans who weren't between the ages of 11 and 16 when he came on the scene and therefore don't understand his campy pop culture appeal will be left scratching their heads.

    Understandably.

Wonder if Efron will be at CV?

Also, if Efron does a better Anakin than Matt Lanter, hopefully Dave Filoni and co. will kick Lanter out and replace him with Efron.

It think we all knew Robot Chicken: Star Wars was coming to an end. I think whoever producted Robot Chicken enjoyed the Star Wars Themes. One thing I didn't like in Robot Chicken was Boba Fett with a lightsaber or Leia and Luke in bed in Cloud City. The one's that were laughable were the "Yo Mama" competition, Mace dying, Jar Jar Binks disturbing Vader in his sleep, and in the Chancellor's office where Vader called the Emperor and told him some rebels blew up his Death Star. Some of it seemed inappropiate and not aa franchise choose. The ratings I'd ive it about four and a half stars.

Brief unfinished Ep3 preview from CV:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVPNCegkGzM&feature=related

And an interesting tidbits from the panel:

Matt: "Unlike other episodes of Robot Chicken, the new Star Wars special will be an hour long."

Cool! Those RC specials always felt too short for me.

A mixed blessing IMO. Most of the cut sketches from RCII that were included in the DVD release were better off left out of the show, and there have been a couple of dud jokes that creeped into the actual episodes themselves (Although I can't stress how few were bad).

So long as this doesn't affect the hit/miss ratio of the jokes then this should be rather spectacular! :D

They should put at least one Clone Wars spoof in this one.

That'd be funny to have a Cad Bane skit or something.

Robot Chicken: The only show in which only 90% of fans don't want to see Jar Jar.
