Twentieth Century Fox, Blue Sky Studios and Academy Award(r) winning director Chris Wedge, who transported audiences back in history with their box office sensation ICE AGE, have now created the visually spectacular world of ROBOTS - a world filled entirely with whimsical robots. Like ICE AGE, the movie is packed with comedy, incredible visuals and a lot of heart.

Rodney Copperbottom, voiced by Ewan McGregor, is a small town robot who has a gift for inventing things and a hope of moving beyond his quaint surroundings. He works side by side in a restaurant with his dad who is a dishwasher - literally a dishwasher. You open his chest and load in the dishes. Rodney has dreams of something greater. Armed with his unique talent for inventing, Rodney embarks on a journey to Robot City to meet his idol, the majestic inventor Bigweld, voiced by Mel Brooks. An iconic figure in all of Robot City, Bigweld has spent a lifetime creating things to make the lives of robots better.

Once in Robot City, Rodney finds that things are not quite as he expected, and his quest may be a lot harder than he imagined. As he tries to navigate his way around this new city, Rodney befriends the Rusties, a ragtag group of street-smart bots who know the ropes. One of the Rusties, Fender (voiced by Robin Williams), immediately becomes Rodney's best friend and even lets his spunky kid sister Piper (voiced by Amanda Bynes) tag along. They take him in, and for now, at least, Rodney has a home in Robot City.

Rodney also meets Cappy (voiced by Halle Berry), an executive at Bigweld Industries who takes an instant liking to Rodney and sees a lot of herself in him. Along their adventures, Rodney and his new friends encounter unsavory characters who try to derail Rodney's plans to find Bigweld and save Robot City. The result is a timeless, comedic tale that pushes the boundaries of animation while introducing characters rich with humor and soul, and a heart-warming story proves that a robot can shine no matter what he is made of.

In addition to Ewan McGregor, Robin Williams, Halle Berry, Mel Brooks and Amanda Bynes, ROBOTS boasts the following ensemble cast: Drew Carey, Jim Broadbent, Paul Giamatti, Jay Leno, Dianne Wiest, Stanley Tucci, Jamie Kennedy, and many others.

Check out the link to the preview in the opening post. :p

I was kinda unsure about this one...until I saw the preview a minute ago. Looks great. The animation looks fantastic. The cast is awesome, too. I'll definitely be seein' this one...even if the ROTS trailer isn't with it (that would be a nice little cherry on top, however).

The more an animated film advertises itself based upon what 'celebrity voices' it's got, the less interested I become.

The animation in Ice Age may no have been as pretty as Pixar's work, but the humour was far better than any Pixar movie, bar the incredibles. So, I have high hopes for this one. Plus the animation looks top notch.

And the anon source may be working off nothign other than the fact Ice Age came out around the saem time before AOTC and had the trailer attached.

Well, confirmed or not, consider this:

    1. It's a 20th Century Fox release.
    2. It has Ewan McGregor.
    3. It has Mel Brooks, creator of the Star Wars spoof "Spaceballs".
    4. It's released a couple of months away from ROTS
    5. It's a family film, meaning that it will attract both the young and old, thus the widest audience possible for the ROTS trailer.
    6. What other of their spring releases could Fox attach the trailer to? Fever Pitch? :p

And it does look good... I just hope it doesn't become like Shark Tale and ends up placing more focus on it's voice talent rather than the story or characters.

"3. It has Mel Brooks, creator of the Star Wars spoof "Spaceballs". "

That's a reason to have it attached?

I'll see it for two reasons. The episode 3 trailer (I never got a chance to see the teaser intheaters :( ) and Mel Brooks. It actually looks pretty bad, and looks like it'll end up being another Shark's Tail.

When watching the teaser, I couldn't really tell it was Ewan. He's gotten pretty good at changing his voice.

I watched it. I really didn't like it. Anything with an excessive fart joke, I hate. And I didn't laugh once, I came close a couple times... but I just didn't.

I watched it. I liked it. It was one of those films which shouldn't have worked but did anyway. Some of the animimation looked more real than TPM. Given the story though, it should have been about 20 minutes longer to develope things more.

What did you think of Ice Age, then?

I need some comparison to see if your tastes match up with mine.
