Then Tarkin, Vader and Motti would have known about what happened there before Leia provided the false information and would not have fallen for a wild goose chase.

There is an alien at 1:10, slightly left of center - very quickly obscured by the guy walking left with helmet/hoses. Looks to have a skull-ish face (not a Givin, though).

Agree. He is probably similar to Maz, he knows the Force but has no interest in joining a cause or dedicating his life to a code. He uses the force to for his own needs basically.

This universe owes everything to Asia: its themes, beliefs, asthetics, fighting. So it is about darn time...:)

Didn't Lucas originally want an all Asian cast? Or is that just an urban legend?

I'm not sure about the whole cast, but he definitely wanted a veteran Japanese actor for Obi-Wan.

Several wise someone(s) here mentioned he at least wanted Toshiro Mifune for Obi-Wan and then Vader, but Mifune declined as he felt the role would tarnish the samurai. I suppose some things get lost in translation. And I sure as hell respect Mifune's choice though as great as it would have been to see him as Obi-Wan.

I am kind of bummed though, seeing all these wonderful performers in the Shaws and indie martial arts films, several were quite good actors / actresses too.

I realized I didn't finish my thought, there were plenty of Asian actors (Shaws, indies, Japan etc.) who could have easily fit the bill of all these characters.

At any rate, this looks good and makes me think Star Wars immediately, so yay!

The Force Theme could just as easily be used because:

    -It's iconic and easily recognizable.
-Given it's more somber and moody tone in this trailer, it could be referencing the fact that no Jedi will be coming to help out the heroes, but that a certain Sith Lord might be showing up to reek some havoc.

Great catch. So that's at least two aliens in the teaser!

But that doesn't make sense, as there are Imperial walkers on the beachy planet. So they know about that place. In ANH, they don't know about Dantooine.

I think the beach planet is more likely where the Rogue One team gets the Death Star plans. A high security Imperial military facility of some kind. I don't believe our heroes will be entering the Death Star.

Toshiro Mifune would have been pretty amazing as Obi-Wan I think. Not to take anything away from Alec Guiness of course.

Don't forget there was an AT-AT in ROTJ on Endor walking by the platform Vader's Imperial shuttle was Landing on.

In the novel Leia continues with "They sent four fighters after us - they could as easily have sent a hundred". It may be that the fighter attack was the only thing deliberately "weakened".

Regarding the scene where they put the superlaser dish on the Death Star, was that dish already on the under-construction Death Star at the end of Revenge of the Sith? Or maybe that scene could be "ret-conned" to taking place only shortly before Rogue One/A New Hope.

    Nope.

There is a space where the dish should go - it's smaller than the dish itself is - so there would be a bit of overlap around the edges. The sphere seen may be an "inner layer" with a few km of deck to go on top of that, thus allowing the dish scene to work:

The smallness of the "dish space" was one of several things, enough to convince SWTC's Saxton:

    http://www.theforce.net/swtc/ds/ruction.html#cgw

that this couldn't be the actual first Death Star, but, for me "inner layer with quite a bit of extra deck to go" resolves that.

Thank you. Great points. It must be the familiarity paired with the fact it's in a minor key, and also toned down, so therefore pensive and melancholy. And it's just a teaser, but damn stop "musically" telling me she's a Jedi if she isn't, ya know. Crazy people like me are quick to see Mara Jade going by an alias. Lucas help me.

So this scene is about the same time as the rest of the movie right?
    No time gap?
To me, with it taking 19 years to finish, they could have rebuilt that part of the station several times.
    No issue imo.

Jyn being a Jedi, would kind of undermine one of the points of the movie. IF there were to be one (and I have my doubts about that), it'd more likely be Donnie Yen's character.

That's over-complicating it. The disc shape in the ROTS Death Star is clearly a support structure. The focusing dish slots neatly into it.
