If the strategy guide is from a Nintendo Power Issue that reviews it, don't use it for Fest. It's incorrect, and states there are four AT-AT's in the level. Imagine what a hassel THAT would be!

No, no. It's not the issue that talks about it but a whole strategy guide about everthing on Rogue Squadron. I don't know why I dont have a gold on every mission then, cuz i prolly dont use it. And about the point of the level, what's the big deal about 3 AT-PTs?

I didn't really find it that hard this is what you do

Take out the At-At harassing the At-Pts

Then DO NOT shoot the gate. Leaving the gate up will slow the At-Pt's down giving you more time

Take the walker near the shield generator. And while you loobing him up take shots at the generator. Might get lucky.

Take the final walker by the time your done with him the At-Pts will be out.

Fly cover for them for the rest of the level and you've won.

I developed a specific strategy I followed every time. Here it is, as best I can remember:

    1. Put on both brakes, and make one strafing run on the stormtroopers as you make your approach on the first AT-AT (every little bit helps). Then take out said AT-AT.

    2. DO NOT take out the gate, but do take out the second AT-AT. Break away immediately, put on both brakes, and fly a tight circle around that side of the gate, taking out all the little tanks. Don't bother on the second rejuvenation, as the gate will be about broken by then, and the AT-PTs can get away from them anyway.

    3. Take out 3rd and final AT-AT. Then turn back, both brakes on, take out the left hand side set of tanks on that long straightaway. Circle around and take out the right side ones. Ram if necessary, but keep your ship in one piece, one death at this point means game over.

    4. Go to the bend and take out the next set of three AT-PTs, the ones around the bend first, and the ones at the bend second, if you have time. If you don't, and the TIE Bombers come, pursue, there will be three sets, coming from the research facility. Shoot them down as early as possible (don't worry about the missile launchers, because since you left the generator on, they cna't hit you).

    5. Immediately destroy any leftover tanks that are in the way. At this point, everything is done, and the AT-PTs will see them self through the rest. Mop up, kill who you want, take out the generator and the research facility (this will probably be done after the AT-PTs already reach the ship, just because it takes time to do all this). Mission Accomplished, and you should on average get 2 of the 3 to survive, all 3 if you're in the heat.

I hope this helps (and more importantly, that I gave you the right directions, been awhile since I played Rogue Squadron).

I know this wasn't an easy level, but I managed to beat it after a few tries. Pretty much went flying like a bat outta hell, killing the first two AT-AT's as quickly as possible before the gate fell. Then went for the third AT-AT as quikly as possible and then took out the harassing tank-droids. I probably lost only one AT-PT on those times I wasn't quick enough with the tank droids and bombers.

fly a tight circle around that side of the gate, taking out all the little tanks.

You don't always have to do this. I don't understand how it works but the tanks will only attack the AT-PT's at a certain point in time. I think it's if the gate is down but you haven't taken out the 2nd AT-AT. Otherwise they won't.

Sullust was a pain, those were horrible memories, I also found the bacta raid mission a pain. I never got gold on all the maps, I found it quite hard.

Still one of the greatest game I played on the N64 :)

Alright! I finally beat this sucker!!!

The key was knowing I didn't have to destroy the tank droids in the shield generator area.

    Now, for Sullust....[face_batting]

After you take down all the mini shield generators and begin your attack on the capacitor- what part are you supposed to be attacking? Or just the whole thing?

You're supposed to be attacking the pillars at it's center that rotate. They're closer to the top than the bottom and have blueish "windows" on them. I suggest for this level that you use either the Naboo Starfighter (a half cheat, but if that doesn't bother you, you'll have a good chance) or the regular Y-Wing. Everything else is too slow or doesn't have enough shields. Now, don't attack the capacitors first. Go for the missile launchers! Otherwise you'll be a dark spot on the canyon wall so fast it'll make your head spin. You'll need to fly low so as to make it harder for the missiles to get a lock. Once you've made a few circuits and destroyed the missile launchers, the rest of the level should be a piece of cake. That's when you start destroying the capacitors.

...waita second..You people are saying "wait on taking down the gate until the first two walkers are down"..

My problem was WEDGE would always blow the gate before i was freakin' ready for anything!

Are you telling me there's a way to stop Wedge from blowing that gate?

I think they're saying that you shouldn't take down the gate yourself.

As for Sullust- are there any objectives after the capacitor? Because I've found I can just rush the shield generators in a Y-Wing, drop the bomb, and dash for the next one- granted I'm usually on my last life by time i make the capacitor, but that seems like it's doable if there's nothing after it.

Play as a Naboo Starfighter? are u crasy?!? ONLY the Y-wing can do this mission! Man, if there was a Y-wing for every mission (which is possible if u get gold medals on all missions including the secret ones) it would leave with a gold medal on every mission. they reely need a Y-wing game out there...JUST Y-wings...that would ROCK...so much... :p [face_laugh] :D

Nope. Once it's down, you'll barely see it blow up and the mission ends.

    are u crasy?!?

    Yep :p

ONLY the Y-wing can do this mission!

Nope, the Naboo Starfighter does it easily.

Well, at the moment, I think it only allows me to use the Y-Wing anyways, until I beat the level.

That's ok- Y-Wings might be flying bricks that suck to play as, but I'm pretty good with their bombing targeting (though I wish it'd stay in bombing mode after I fire instead of having to activate it each time) after playing Rogue Leader so much; so at least I get to vent my frustration with massive payload drops ;;D

Besides, I've gotten pretty good at doing evasive manuevers in the Tyderium in RL- after that, the Y-Wing is nothing by comparison [face_batting]

What else is there to like about them, if not their payloads?

Besides, show me a K-Wing in a RS game and then maybe you'd have a point [face_batting]

(Though I'd probably correlate the K-Wing to being closer to a B-Wing Bomber than a Y-Wing; given it's heavily armed nature)

That's the idea. There have been more pointless threads though. Maybe since Fest in no longer The 2nd Quest's bane of existence JP-30 would let us turn this in to a y-wing discussion thread.
