Discussion ROGUE SQUADRON - Patty Jenkins Film Potentially Back On

I wonder if they keep it OT or ST related, or New Jedi Order era ?

 

This sort of film is synonymous with the OT. I'd much rather it set there...

 

A movie that could be between both be good instead of just OT. I think more ST or New Jedi Order era. As we been overstuffed with OT content.

Also i wonder if Patty Jenkins and LFL will address the big controversy around her. Being a Zionist?

 

The announcement back in 2020 stated that it would be set in “the future era of the galaxy.” I have always pretty explicitly taken that to mean it’s set after the ST. I also recall Kennedy saying something in 2022, around the time of Celebration, saying something to Empire that some of these films were connected or related. That tracks since I’d presume this and the NJO film would be set in roughly the same time period.

 

Hmm. This is a bit of a surprise if true. I dont think anyone would argue that this film is not a good idea. It was rumoured that the script was not good enough. And last time we discussed it in this thread - the majority here thought maybe Patty Jenkins as a director was not up to the task. Many thought Wonder Woman 1984 was a weak movie as well. The idea of making a war movie that follows a a group of pilots is in general a good one. Could work as a tv series as well - but obviously you will miss out on spectacular «big screen» action.

Jeff Snejder said yesterday that he do not think this is true. Its Patty Jenkins herself that seems to have have made the comment, so thats a strange one. Why would she lie about it. It might be that the project has been picked up by the new Bob Iger regime again, and that its just another project they want to develope, and see if a good script comes along.

 

This movie returned from the dead just like Isard.

 

I agree. Blue Thunder was both a film and also a TV series, just as Rotor Squadron can be.

Lucasfilm is basically just saying there is no rush. We could make the movie in 9 years, along as its made or not.

In the article I read she was back on the project before the strikes so the script was most likely gonna be done already filming for this year but the strikes made it that they couldn't announce the film was back on and with the strikes a script couldn't be written. It's as official as it's gonna get these are interviews from Oscar After Parties Jenkins said they never cancelled the film that she was planning to direct Wonder Woman 3 And Lucasfilm told her when your done with WW 3 that you can get started on the Rogue Squadron Script! So she is writing the script now that DCU went in a different direction! I am really happy about this I personally loved Wonder Woman 1 and 3 I think Jenkins is gonna bring us something special! I would love to see Gal Gadot cast in this she is one of my favorite actresses!

@Sarge I too always had hope and it was never cancelled just postponed because of Wonder Woman 3 there is just such hate for Jenkins because of Wonder Woman 2 and other reasons I won't bring up. I personally don't get the hate for WW 2 me and my family loved it!

 

According to Jenkins she's been writing the script since 2022 the first draft of the script is done now it's to the point where they all gotta be happy with the script put the finishing touches on it. This is in the Hollywood Reporter article!
