    436. Alone Again Or, Love - Didn't recognize it. The :30 clip at amazon.com rang no bells and didn't impress, so . . .

    437. Love Me Tender, Elvis Presley - I really like this one. It's a bit more bare-bones Elvis and I think it's a nice change of pace from all the rockin' and rollin'. Kind of reminds me of some of his gospel stuff.

    438. I Wanna Be Your Dog, The Stooges - I've just never been able to get into much punk and this song is no different for me.

    439. Pink Houses, John Cougar Mellencamp - It's the 80's, so it's kind of a fixture in my head. Enjoyable, but I think more of it as background music to my youth than anything.

    440. Push It, Salt-n-Pepa - Before S-n-P repackaged themselves as MTV hotties years later, they were pretty bad-@ss and this was one of the reasons why.

    441. Come Go With Me, The Del-Vikings - A nice song, but it sort of gets lost with all the similar doo-wop songs of the era.

    442. Keep a Knockin', Little Richard - High energy and just shows why Little Richard was so much fun. And it always reminds me of that scene in Christine where someone is try to break into the car and this song starts playing on the radio.

    443. I Shot the Sheriff, Bob Marley and the Whailers - Classic anthem and while I'm not saying I prefer Clapton's version, it's just the one that sticks with me, probably because I listen to a lot of classic rock and I just hear it more.

    444. I Got You Babe, Sonny and Cher - Once again a song I equate with a movie - Groundhog Day. I think I like the song because of the movie, but without the movie; it'd just be another OK song to me.

    445. Come As You Are, Nirvana - I pretty much loathe Nirvana, so that'll probably be my blanket statement for all the Nirvana songs that I'm sure are on this list.

    437. Love Me Tender, Elvis Presley

Elvis was very effective at rockabilly, much less so at crooning. And this is crooning like has never been crooned before. :p

    442. Keep a Knockin', Little Richard

Little Richard has any number of great songs that could be on this list.

    444. I Got You Babe, Sonny and Cher

    Yeah, right . . .

By the way, great to see this thread back! I always enjoyed it!

Just look on any of his live albums, it's a popular one.

    Next ten:

    426. Smoke on the Water, Deep Purple

    427. New Year's Day, U2

    428. Devil With a Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels

    429. Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, Solomon Burke

    430. White Man in Hammersmith Palais, The Clash

    431. Ain't It a Shame, Fats Domino

    432. Midnight Train to Georgia, Gladys Knight and the Pips

    433. Ramble On, Led Zeppelin

    434. Mustang Sally, Wilson Pickett

    435. Beast of Burden, The Rolling Stones

Sorry to say that Midnight Train is the only one that I know of off the top of my head, but it's a good one. High likelihood that I know the Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin and the U2 one, but I can't think of them at the present moment.

Meh. Not one of their best.

    431. Ain't It a Shame, Fats Domino

Rollicking good time had by all. Very worthy

    433. Ramble On, Led Zeppelin

Well, hard to pick a best Zeppelin, but this is a great song by any standards.

    434. Mustang Sally, Wilson Pickett

Never been as enamored with this as some seem to be.

    435. Beast of Burden, The Rolling Stones

Likeable enough, but again, not one of their best.

    417. **** tha Police, N.W.A.

Australian radio station JJJ was one of the only stations in the world to play this when it was released. The government soon got wind of it, and banned the song. The station's response? They played another NWA song, "Express yourself" for 24 hours straight.

Ramble On - I'm hoping this isn't the only Zep song on there - there are much better. Much better songs that are also more known.

    404. Visions of Johanna, Bob Dylan

    405. We've Only Just Begun, The Carpenters

    406. I Believe I Can Fly, R. Kelly
    - Eh, this song's just sorta annoying.

    407. In Bloom, Nirvana

    408. Sweet Emotion, Aerosmith
    - Sure

    409. Crossroads, Cream

    410. Monkey Gone to Heaven, Pixies

    411. I Feel Love, Donna Summer

    412. Ode to Billie Joe, Bobbie Gentry

    413. The Girl Can't Help It, Little Richard

I'm actually not familiar with many of those.

Sweet Emotion and Crossroads are deserving, but the rest?

There are many better Dylan songs.

And The Carpenters? Can this be serious?

Crossroads is the only one I know; it's a darn good electric blues number.

Crossroads, is that a cover of a blues song?

EDIT: Yes! It's a cover of Robert Johnson's Cross Road Blues.

You have to wonder if the original will be in; it's better than the Cream cover.

Anyway, that's a fairly uneven bunch.

**** The Police should be much higher on the list.

Good to see Nuthin but a G Thang though.

And how did R. Kelly's corny ass song about flying get on here?!?!

    Alrighty, up next:

    394. Can't Help Falling in Love, Elvis Presley

    395. Remember (Walkin' in the Sand), The Shangri-Las

    396. Thirteen, Big Star

    397. (Don't Fear) the Reaper, Blue Oyster Cult

    398. Sweet Home Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd

    399. Enter Sandman, Metallica

    400. Kicks, Paul Revere and the Raiders

    401. Tonight's the Night, The Shirelles

    402. Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), Sly & the Family Stone

    403. C'mon Everybody, Eddie Cochran

I only know Don't Fear the Reaper, which is an excellent song, definently should be on there, and Sweet Home Alabama. I like this one, it seems like it should be up higher, but it definently is played too much. Especially by KFC for their retarded commercials.

    394. Can't Help Falling in Love, Elvis Presley

Most certainly. An iconic love song.

    395. Remember (Walkin' in the Sand), The Shangri-Las
    396. Thirteen, Big Star

    Huh?

    397. (Don't Fear) the Reaper, Blue Oyster Cult
    398. Sweet Home Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd

    Both should be higher.

    399. Enter Sandman, Metallica

A good song, but questionable on this list.

    400. Kicks, Paul Revere and the Raiders

Good pop song, but doesn't belong here.

    401. Tonight's the Night, The Shirelles
    402. Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), Sly & the Family Stone
    403. C'mon Everybody, Eddie Cochran

Couldn't they do any better than these second rate songs?

    Or this.

    397. (Don't Fear) the Reaper, Blue Oyster Cult

    Or this.

    398. Sweet Home Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd

    Iconic.

    399. Enter Sandman, Metallica

    Don't know it.

    400. Kicks, Paul Revere and the Raiders

    Very good song.

    401. Tonight's the Night, The Shirelles

    Don't know it.

    402. Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), Sly & the Family Stone

    Good song.

    396. Thirteen, Big Star

Hmm, odd to see this here; Big Star is mostly (unjustly) forgotten. Their debut, #1 Record, is a great album, as is their follow up, Radio City. This one is off their debut; it's a quite beautiful acoustic ballad. But I'd rather have One More Chance or Don't Lie to Me or Ballad of El Goodo on the list over this one.

    398. Sweet Home Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd

    Classic. Definitely deserving.

    399. Enter Sandman, Metallica

    Brilliant. I'd say its deserving.
