Ahoy there everyone! You've all seen AvN... well while I'm slaving away with roto and getting kicked around the VFX world, the guy in the tie (the A) is in the film program at UNL and makes like six movies a week. This is one of his most recent projects, and it turned out quite nicely.

    Clicky :)

Alex should be lurking around to pop in now and then; he just created some new mystery account here. Oh and the credits are BS, I just used ProScores; I'm not that talented. I mean I can mix my way out a wet paper bag, but I can't write anything.

Pretty work. Excellent setting. I always have trouble getting into big Bill's dialog,, and the way actors feel thay have to rush it out, but that's my only dislike.

    Thanks for posting this, Nate.

I agree that the performances are a little rushed, thanks for the feedback!

It is really nicely shot. I liked the opening but would have liked to see more of that dynamic style carried through the rest of the short. The scene is a good one, and pivitol from the point of showing how Romeo is being banished not only from Verona but from Juliet and that's the crux of his pain. In order to see that more, it would have been nice to have you play off of the other actor in the room rather than on the phone. I didn't feel it was rushed dialog as that's really just the style of Shakespeare himself. It was more that I wanted the anguish of Romeo expressing his frustration with his punishment and the separation from Juliet and while you did a good job conveying that, it might have been more dynamic to see you react off of Ryan rather than 'the phone', if you know what I mean.

Overall, nice work. I know how hard it is to act in these short pieces and bring everything together. You did a nice job and I hope you do some more.

Right, you lose some of the compassion when it's over the phone. The whole idea was taking some inspiration from the end of American Psycho and playing with it in that aspect. Maybe not the most effective choice, but a choice nonetheless. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I would love to do another two person scene from the show and actually have some real interaction.

It's always good to experiment with different settings and trying new things so I'm not faulting you for that at all. I still liked the idea and maybe it's just something I prefer being of a theatrical acting background. I love the person to person interactions when I can see the two actors feeding off each other. Again, nicely done!

I quite liked it. I felt that the action stayed a little too long with Romeo on the phone in some of the sequences of dialogue. As I was watching it, I was seeing your reactions to his feelings on what had happened, but not actually seeing them. I think that if you had cut away to a rather quick series of flashbacks, using the same tone and pace you did in the beginning (in the part where the running down the hallway was fast) it would have reminded the audience of what had happened already, to lead to what was about to happen. (Wow, run-on sentence!)

Overall, nice work. I think I have a good idea of what you intended, and I think you executed it pretty well. :)

Kudos to the lighting in the office on Romeo. I found it well done given the limitations.

    Thanks for the comments, Andy!

I agree, that would've been cool to do more flashbacks to the stuff with Tybalt, and it wouldn't be that hard to execute either. Maybe that's something I can still add in for a "Special Edition" or something, haha. Thanks for the feedback though, Brian can do amazing things with lighting considering he only used one Lowell kit I think.

Shakespeare is much cooler with helicopters.

I didn't really care for some of the jarring/slow-mo mashup in the beginning, but the adaptation into a modern setting was pretty cool.
Camerawork is good, but got a little comfortable once Romeo sat down. Their could've been a bit more variety in the shots rather than just staying still. Also, the audio feels a little thin and echo-y, but other than those little things, I like it.

"Oh, then I see that mad men have no ears."
"How can they, when that wise men have no eyes?"

I forgot about that line. Shakespeare definitely had his moments. :p
