i am looking for a lightsaber that the extractable blade goes into the handle, and comes out 3 feet like a real lightsaber... now i found this rubies one http://www.costumecraze.com/image.php?imagefile=images/vendors/rubies/5054-large.jpg

i was wondering if anyone knows how durable the blade is... because i will be dueling a lot with it.. the hasbro light up and sound ones arent too durable if u get in a hardcore duel the plastic will bend...

if it dents or whatever thats fine just as long as it doesnt bend

does anyone know? itd really help... i was carrying a cheap little plastic one that was very small that i picked up at jewel, and it went in the handle and was very durable... it broke in an extreme duel, but if these rubies ones are good then i want one because they are more realistic... please help me... you're my only hope

The rubies sabers are not made for dueling. If you want to do some fighting, it would be better to build your own that has a removable blade (unless you want to be able to extend it from the hilt). The Hasbro ones are probably the best you're going to get.

Wooden Dowel seems like a cheap option but that means the blade won't be able to go back into the hilt. To prevent the "blade" from flying off into all direction when broken, you may want to cover it with one of those colored stickers that usually used for cars or sign (I think since I found it at the Hardware Stores), which is roughly the same theory they used for splinters-free glass.

Hmmm...personally I found that Hasbro Ep1-2 lightsabre blades are better than the OT one. My Vader Blade got bent while I was sparing with someone back in 1999 but the QGJ and Maul ones hasn't suffered any damage yet tho' I spar more with them now.
