Rules for Ryyk blades and shields.

What are the rules for Ryyk Blades and hand held shields, like the ones gungan uses.

 

I believe the stats for Rykk blades are in the equipement book. The Gungan Shields should be in the Secrets of Naboo Sourcebook (Secrets is a first edition book, so it might require some minor modification.)

 

I don't have the books, so can anyone tell me more?

The shields that the gungans used were ruled in Jedi Counciling to provide +2 Defense. The Ryyk blades do 1d4 damage and threaten on a natural 20, the are also small weapons.

 

According to SW gamer #4 (which pre-dates the RCRB):

Also: Wookies can select the ryyk as a weapon for which they can take the Weapon Finesse feat.

According to Secrets of Naboo (which aslo pre-dates the RCRB):

Personal Energy Shield:
+4 bonus to defense against most attacks originating within the arc of fire that it faces. It does not, however, provide any bonus to successful sneak attacks. No cost or weight given.

Maybe use the rules for two-weapon fighting when used together? I would give the standard penalty to the rykk blade and mayble a -1 to defense with the shield if they have armor proficiency (medium), and a -2 if they don't have that feat.

 

The shield was handled in Jedi Counselling # 15 as giving +2 Defense and the Ryyk blade is in Arms and Equipment as 3d4 damage, threaten on natural 20, and a small weapon (Changes from Gamer 4 mentioned in Jedi Counseling 7).

 

Why are they small weapons? I thought a Ryyk blade was the size of a large scimitar
