Disney has become the first major Hollywood studio to pause its releases at the Russia box office in response to the country’s invasion of Ukraine, THR reports.

I think America has tried to block other countries from having ties with Russia Cuba for instance, but that isn’t done through the guise of NATO. America would do that with or without NATO.

Edit: Vivec I just thought you were saying something you weren’t. I was wrong. Really that simple.

There are some gentlemen ready to join Ukraine as foreign fighters. I give them props and wish them the best. They CAN ultimately a difference. It is Ukraine's will to survive and foreign support which can defeat the cruel dictates of Putin and his oligarchy. I will not deny that the thought crossed my mind as to what difference I could make. https://www.gbnews.uk/news/british-...-foreign-legion-to-take-fight-to-putin/236136

I would have too much to lose. However, someone else may only see the gains they can make. We can admire them for their courage, bravery, and self-sacrifice.

This is no video game. Many Russian POWs have independently repeated that their movement into Ukraine started as an exercise. This will go down in the history books. There is no video game to play here. These are the throws of an independent nation throwing off the yoke of its former possessor.

Thought about it myself fella, but I literally have no military experience myself and would probably be more of the burden then anything.

    Or the UK :p

Maybe Putin should ask himself why so many Russians don't want to live in Russia...

Ukraine will need humanitarian assistance after the invasion is over. When the cruel dictates end, the cleanup of the senseless destruction begins.

Ukraine, we hope! Or, no one wins.

If Russia annexes all of Ukraine, it would still be called Ukraine.

NBC News - Frustrated Putin may order escalation of violence in Ukraine, U.S. officials say
The U.S. has solid intelligence that Putin is expressing unusual bursts of anger at people in his inner circle over the state of the military campaign so far, officials said.

The Guardian - ‘Horrendous’ rocket attack kills civilians in Kharkiv as Moscow ‘adapts its tactics’

They're escalating and the concern has always been they'll take the gloves off like they did in Chechnya and elsewhere after not being welcomed as liberators.

Escalation had better mean that the angry Cabbage Patch Doll is going to take off his shirt and ride into battle on horseback.

In all likelihood Russia, but even if Russia wins Ukraine still deserves help. I also think the moment Putin is out Russia should be flooded with aid. We should give it anyway but I doubt Putin would accept it.

Despite Ukraines early success Kiev will eventually fall or be bombed to oblivion. Unless the Russian federation just collapses I see no way they win. Best case scenario is they somehow get to set up a west Ukraine type deal in Lviv and that’s really optimistic. As their plan leaked from Russia state media where they say they “solved the Ukraine problem” so no I don’t expect Ukraine to win sadly. Whatever government in Ukraine is set up will meet heavy resistance and won’t be recognized by anyone outside of Russia and some of the anti America countries like Iran, Venezuela North Korea. I doubt even China will recognize them.

I am glad Switzerland is picking a side, because this war is not reasonable. But I also hope Switzerland abandons its poise of neutrality altogether. Certainly, taking the historical perspective, there are worse incidents that have not compelled them to break their poise. The only thing worse than this state of affairs is if they later try to resume being "neutral" with it now clear how selective and essentially self-interested that declaration always is.

Switzerland is smack-dab between France, Italy, and Germany-- great powers that loved going a-annexin'-- with populations that speak those languages. Of course their neutrality is self-interested.

I mean, yes. Of course all nation-states act in ways that are basically self-interested. But this particular instance is and has been praised publicly as somehow admirable. I am expressing hope that dialogue about it shifts as a result of this incident.

I've also found constantly declaring that "We are Ukraine" even though we are not is also quite the salve. And hopes and prayers of course.

Interesting analysis there of what we might expect. Some cities may fall. Does that mean the whole of Ukraine is gone? The Ukrainian people will ultimately choose their own destiny. They can escape into neighboring countries like Hungary, only to trickle back when the political climate is safe.

There might be some deep revenge agenda that Putin is sitting on. Putin gets his interval of destruction, then what? Everyone is back to work doing whatever they normally do.

    https://www.mediaite.com/politics/r...do-we-need-the-world-if-russia-wont-be-in-it/

Not only has Switzerland joined in the sanctions, but so has Monaco, which is where a great deal of Russian oligarch money is hidden.

If this financial war works, then that would explain why China has remained neutral thus far. They want to ascertain if a financial war will work against Russia. If it does, that might dissuade them from invading Taiwan. That said, Putin's threats though state television are troubling. Additionally, reports state that Putin has jailed at least 6,000 Russians who protested against his invasion.
