So on a compatible player, it'll display the album title, track title, sometimes artist info

 

ah ok- I thought all CD's had that

 

I used to too, but no. Most don't. Cd-text isn't the same as when you put a CD in a computer and it lists the tracks, like in Windows Media Player or iTunes. I think that functionality uses some web-based service, and that data isn't usually stored on the disc itself.
