He banged his head, cause he's like 7 feet tall and just woke up after being frozen to near death in space, and missing an arm and plus woke up out've surgery. Give him a break.

    Brother Viscus also said this:

Plus its obvious they're breeding between eachother, a no brainer really.

So it is quite clear, whether or not Ventress had time to become impregnated by Opress as part of the ritual and her obligation to the clan and/or Talzin is currently unknown. She may of wanted Ventress to bear a force sensitive child(like Talzin did Maul) and why she hooked them up as some or all of Maul's blood is also in Savage as these two are siblings or half siblings whatever the story is. Ventress as a natural Force sensitive would be an ideal candidate.

Maybe, as suggested Jason Fry in "The Shadow Conspiracy", Savage was afraid during his wake-up, that he is just suffering another transformation. Not to forget, Maul was not around either for some moments. What an awful wake-up for poor Savage.

During the Trial of the Night Ventress was laughing just out of the darkness making her usual notorious mockery about the Nightbrothers under her awaiting the lethal chain-sickle. Savage later at Raydonia must have had a déja-vu, hearing her mocking him and Maul out of the darkness from the upper level of the turtle-tanker, to where they both get Obi-Wan.

I forgot to add: Ventress was also impressed but annoyed by the fact that Savage broke the rule by interrupting her deadly force-choke on poor Feral. Actually when it comes to choose Nightbrothers who will serve a Sith as in Savage's case, there are supposed to be no survivors in the trials except the champion. But Savage compelled her to let Feral stay alive, while offering himself to her when it was clear that she was keen to get on Savage anyway. And after Savage's transformation Ventress took revenge for this "misdemanor" of Savage.

Interesting, where did he said that?

O.k. a misunderstanding. I thought, Viscus really said something like no-brainer. But thank you for your patience :)

Another issue: When Savage Opress impaled Adi Gallia at Florrum, he first impaled her with his large horns and then again with his lightsaber. Did he do this because he wanted to be sure that she will die or just for the fun of making cruelty? Surely he did not wanted her to suffer less. Then he would have used his lightsaber only.

Looks like he just saw an opening and took it, as he was still a beast so he rammed her good then savagely impaled her to make sure she was dead or overkill.

Guys, Ventress nor Talzin ever intended for Savage to be anyone's mate. The only reason Viscus said that is because he was unaware of what the Nightsisters were actually using Savage for. Ventress used the Selection as a pretense for finding the ideal servant to take out Dooku.

As a Nightsister she still would have to mate with a Nightbrother. It would be in Talzin's best interest to have Venntress, a Force sensitive, mate with a Nightbrother of Darth Maul's bloodline. The pairing could produce another Maul or Maulette much like Talzin produced Maul as at some point 25-30 years before TPM Talzin mated with a Nightbrother and produced Maul and possibly Opress and Feral.

The subject of mating never came up and I don't think Ventress had any intentions of doing so.

On a slightly different subject, why were Feral and Maul never given the surname Opress like Savage? I also wonder if Maul's name really is just Maul. I can't imagine Talzin calling her son by anything other than his given name, and it's extremely unusual for a Sith Lord's Darth title to include their given name. And why would Palpatine let Maul keep his Nightbrother name when it's in his interest to distance him from his heritage?

Good points I think it was just plot convince because a lot of people would not like Maul being called anything else.

That's probably the reason Ventress didn't had any intention in getting laid by Savage. Then her name would have changed into Asajj Opress ;) Yeah, Savage's name is so special and is imbued with such a distinct cruel elegance I like very much. :D

It did come up, they used the word mate, females are dominate on Dathomir, their society is structured as like from the Amazons from Greek mythology. Its called being implied, and its a kids show mainly. How do you think they're reproducing?!

I completely agree, Ventress was searching for the ideal weapon to exact revenge on Dooku, nothing else. Both Savage and Maul would have made good mates for Ventress though, and would have produced a powerful force wielder.

Actually I tend also to this presumption. At Orsis Mother Talzin told Maul that as a Nightbrother he has to serve the Nightsisters in this or that way. That means either he will generate offspring with a Nightsister or he will be chosen as a worrier with that heavy plated shoulder armor like Savage.

And then his task will be the fight in the off-worlds for the interests of the Nightsisters or for other wealthy clients like Dooku or the Black Sun. Talzin would have wasted her best worrier if she would let Savage mate with Ventress and after Ventress will give birth to a son, she would have to kill Savage due to tradtion. If there is no exception for candidates who passed the trials of the crucible in the Nightbrother's village. To have a "privileged partnership" maybe.

Maybe these great worriers have to wait till they get old and disabled for heavy fights. And only that time (if they survive their outworld-service-time) they are getting laid by some Nightsister to generate worthy offspring ;) Only then the respective Nightsister will be able to defeat one of them.

I don't believe its explained anywhere canonically, but I think the implication is that his full name is Maul Opress, Opress being the clan name. And it just so happens that his name already reflects character, which is how the Sith name their apprentices, right?
    Why is that?

All of the Nightbrothers have Sith title names. The Nightsisters have interesting names as well. The word Karas, kares, or karis in Egyptian signifies embalmment, to embalm, to make a mummy. Naa'leth not sure, but sounds close to Ninlith or Lilith, well Babylonian or Sumerian sounding.

Asajj is likely short for the Hindi/Sanskrit word asajjan which means wicked, crooked, unfurnished .

    1. not straight; bending; curved 2. evil or morally bad in principle or practice; sinful; iniquitous 3. awkward, clumsy, or unmannerly 4. not reputable ; having a bad reputation

Ventress is a form of Venter/ Venters. Is alt spelling for venturous which means adventurous; bold. Ultimate origin is Latin.

It is possible that Dathomir is one of the colonized planets of the old Sith empire, the Nightbrothers are devolved into barbarism version of the continuation of the Sith Academy once present. Dooku seems eager to procure another Sith assassin of Maul's bloodline. Talzin and her witches someone emerged dominate, but its unclear how much Talzin herself beleieved in the Nightsister way, as she put her pupils into danger and herself for her son. Her favoriing her son goes against the Nightsister way, seems she first had to get rid of them before going solo so she could put her efforts into making sure her son has a secured place in the galaxy. Once Sidious rejected Maul as a rival, she took a more active role by her son's side. Where Maul would now seek to destroy Sidious' Sith legacy. Talzin in once came to rescue Maul from the Osris academy upon learning her son was abanoned by Sidious by the mercinary looking for trouble, once Sidious told her he was not and it was a misunderstanding caused by a meddler, she left Maul with him.

Seems whatever the bargain or understanding was, Maul was supposed to be the apprentice. After Maul fell on Naboo Sidious moved on with Dooku/Tyranus with his eyes set upon young Skywalker. Maul showed up again unforeseen, carved his own piece of the pie but was with his own powerful apprentice with the darkside now eager towards aligning itself with them, he was had to destroy them as rivals. Talzin seems to have taken this as the last insult to his Sidious treachery, so took a more proactive role but her powers were weak as she needs to feed off the force for subsidence, Windu and jar jar interfered and caused a major set back. Had she absorbed Maul's lifeforce she couldve destroyed Sidious and Dooku but she chose not to, as Maul was more important than her or them.

Savage Opress killed four Jedi on screen.

Master Halsey could not withstand the Nightbrother's opressing strikes and his Padawan Knox crumbled under Opress's savage strikes. The unnamed Nikto Jedi was brutally opressed to death and High Council member Adi Gallia failed to end Savage Opress's opression of the Outer Rim. Savage was a brutal creature and the Jedi he faced could not stand against his punishing assaults.

Immediately after Savage rebelled from servitude from both Dooku and Ventress as he was fleeing he was confronted by Anakin and Obi-Wan. During that battle Savage seemed absurdly powerful. All of the droids had turned on him as well and he just stood there and seemed unfazed by round after round of blaster fire. Now, I could understand that Talzin's magic allowed him some extraordinary abilities, but we don't seem to see Savage in quite the same realm of invincibility later in the series. Anyone have any explanations to offer?

When abilities of men grow, the level of tasks to fulfill grows too. Bounty-hounters and other Sith are another level than rounds of droid-blaster-rain.

And some day a task was coming which overpowered even Savage Opress - Darth Sidious. - But at last and at least - Savage Opress was slain by the best. May he rest in peace.
