Alright, this isn't a Star Wars topic, but you guys know costumes, so maybe you can help out a costume rookie.
I've been unable to locate a seaQuest costume online for sale... SO I've decided I'll try and make it.

Basically, I need a 2nd/3rd season bridge uniform. This is what the captain and the rest of the main characters would wear. Here's a picture:
    [image=http://www.turkeyland.net/images/seaquest/JONATHAN%20FORD.JPG]

I thought about making it from a flightsuit I'd get at Joe's Army Navy.. but that would probably require me to dye it.

    So yeah, any ideas?

umm, dyeing might not be so bad.You might try looking online for blue jumpsuits.

I didn't find a blue one.. but I found this one.. it's dark green, I could probably dye it.

It's not EXACTLY like it... but I can modify it to make it pretty darn close.

EDIT: Ooo, I found a better one. Good ol' Canadian Military with their blue flight suits.

    Oh awesome.
    I love Ebay!

I just found a bunch of official seaQuest uniform patches.
I found the one that says seaQuest DSV 4600, the UEO logo, as well as rank patches for the collar.

That's all they've got, so I'll have to somehow make the other shoulder patch (which is a bigger version of the rank patch) as well as the name/rank patch which goes on the left side of the uniform.

Anyone know how to make patches that look pretty close to real patches? Or have any idea how I could do it? I'll post pictures in here of what I need, and maybe you could give me some tips.

I'm so excited. This costume has definite potential...

Navy Coveralls are blue, and probably very close to what the SeaQuest people wore.

For patches, you can usually get a dozen or so real patches commissioned pretty cheap. Try finding a SeaQuest fanboard, too, sometimes they'll know. If all else fails contact the patch place and see if they'll do them to sell.

Coveralls were definitely the way to go. I woke up today, and my bid on the flight suit was outbid, so I looked for coveralls, and found the ones I saw for sale more closely resembled the seaQuest season 2/3 costumes.

I may have to make it a little bit darker still, but we'll see.

This is weird. I haven't seen SeaQuest since I was 13 and it first came out. This is the first time I've been on the costuming board in ages. And this morning I saw SeaQuest on Space Channel!

    Weird coincidence...

    THEY'RE AIRING SEAQUEST!?!

I've been hoping to get a DVD for ages! I loved it in high school, but never taped it and I don't remember half of it. What channel / when / what areas?

    What channel: Space
When: Sunday mornings at some time
What areas: Well, Space is national, so I would assume anywhere in Canada. I'm on the West Coast.

Thanks Birrer.. those will come in handy for when I have to make costumes for all the crew members in my fanfilm.

I have pretty much everything I need for my own costume tho, which is the prototype.
    It should look awesome.

Several years back I did a seaQuest costume. Basicaly it was a set of Navy Blue BDUS with the patches, a US Army black pistol belt, and a seaQuest dsv 4600 baseball cap. The costume came out pretty good.

    Good luck with yours

Okay, Obi-Dawn, who do we buy out to tape them and ship the copies to the US?

CitizenJohn, could you post some pics of it? I'd like to see how it came out.

Oh, I had some fun with photoshop today, and put my g/f into one of the women's uniforms.
She's going to play a role in my film, so this is what she'll look like in the movie.. somewhat.

Usually, Birrer, the head goes on top of the neck.

You may notice that I airbrushed her chest to get it to match her next and facial tone.
I also lightened the color of the arms to get them to match as well.

    God, I'm good!

Funny, I was meaning the line on her neck.I am an EMT,i know where the head goes.Plus are those hand/arm veins on the original pic. Those suckers are massive, ray charles could start an IV in those.and her head is a bit out of scale to the body.I saw the pics of her in the jedi costume ,so i know her head isnt that big.

Heh.. I thought I sized her head pretty well.

    Hmmmm.

And those veins are natural. They're just not Becca's veins.

My patches arrived this weekend! WOO!

I have the seaQuest logo patch for my chest, the UEO patch for my sleeve, and my g/f made the UEO captain's patches for each side of my collar. All I'm waiting on is the rank patch for my other sleeve.

This weekend, I also bought dog collars in order to make the black straps that hand down from the shoulders (see above pics). I'll just have to trim them and sew them on.

I'm still torn on whether or not I should dye this suit. We'll see.
