If that is the case, that means Disney/LFL gave the middle finger to fans who have invested decades into this franchise in favor of positive reviews from critics and audiences who are so un-invested that they get Star Wars and Star Trek mixed up. That is a problem in and of itself.
I think we should all be able to agree that something being 'popular' doesn't mean that something is technically good, or even perceived as being technically good by those viewing it. These things aren't mutually exclusive of course, something popular can also be good... but they can also be quite different measures. Every Star Wars film has been relatively popular.
You’re all just using different definitions of popular. It can mean either broadly well-regarded/ admired, or just for the masses.
It can also mean that people went to see it and it did reasonably well at the box office. And that reading of ‘popular’ has little bearing on wether a film was technically good or bad, or whether audiences viewed it as good or bad. For example the Super Mario Bros. Movie. didn’t score well with critics, it’s a poor film (IMO), but it did well at the box office. So regardless of technical merits, and critical appraisal, it’s possible for it to be both ‘popular’ with general audiences, and also for it to be regarded as a not so great film.
And The Rise of Skywalker seemed to not be panned so much as lost in the shuffle. Grogu and the Mandalorian were the big new things in Star Wars at that moment. Baby Yoda is arguable the most popularStar Wars character introduced since Yoda.
Grogu is popular because he was cute and got an emotional reaction from the audience. I do think Mando series 3 his popularity has gone down abit. But i think that was always gonna happen.
Grogu is as popular with audiences as he ever was, but I think the Grogu/Mando story played 2nd fiddle to Bo Katan in season 3.
I don't think so. i think some of the gloss has worn abit on Grogu. But then we have seen 3 series and 2 episodes from TBOB of seeing Grogu. it was gonna happen. His fresh face cuteness was never gonna remain constant. Id say thats normal with all things though. I mean how many things do you see that had a stronger impact when there was less of it and less impact when there was too much of it?
I was arguing that that wasn't the issue. Unless the person was being sarcastic and I misunderstood. I'm wrong, if so.
I didn't say you couldn't reply.[/QUOTE] Okay, my mistake. I guess I misread the intent of your terse two word reply followed by the “rhetorical” pleading.
I was arguing that the lack of Grogu's cute antics wasn't the real issue with season 3. Then I admitted I was wrong, if I had read the post incorrectly as serious instead of sarcastic like I now think it may have been.
