I know Snejder reported that earlier. But now, it says «unconnected» to the Skywalker Saga. That would rule her out.

 

I wont rule it cause of the unconnected. Like you could argue the Rey movie will be unconnected to the Skywalker saga. Until we know more i just see it like Rogue One, both away from the saga and connected. And Shawn Levy will fail if he dosent play with the familiar era as he is not James Mangold.

 

Whatever they do, though, they must avoid the use of papyrus font in the movie marketing.

 

I don't think that logic makes sense. Luke appears in the Mandalorian/BOBF does that make it connected to the Skywalker saga because he is there?

I think people overthink this stuff. Rey can appear in any film she wants. it doesn't have to be hugely tied to the Skywalker saga just because she is there. Anything post Episode 9 isn't part of the Skywalker saga. thats likely finished.

 

Yeah, but Ryan has dirty-blond hair, so he's OBVIOUSLY playing Luke's long-lost son, which means this is definitely part of the Skywalker saga.

Duke Sandbeacher is the perfect combo of the two. He has a vintage landspeeder called the General Leia with a Rebel Alliance flag painted on it.

Dude. We are speculating based on one sentence from a article from the Hollywood Reporter and a YouTube gesture from Jeff Snejder. Of course she can be in any movie she wants ( or Lucasfilm wants her to be in). The Skywalker Saga, is of course….from a point of view. And we dont know what that means really, by now. So lets see if she is on stage in Japan on Celebration. And for what film.

 

I don't think it makes sense to have Rey in this film when another one with her has already been announced with Daisy Ridley. Perhaps Lucasfilm pursued the idea of recasting Rey as an old woman as a backup plan in the event either Ridley declined to return or the script for the New Jedi Order film fell apart (which still might happen, but I doubt it). It's worth keeping in mind that Levy's film started development in 2022, so the New Jedi Order film hadn't been announced yet.

 

That don't really change much at all really. Rey can have many different purposes in a film. They don't all have to be the same thing.

I get, we suspect if they did a Rey movie it should be the starting point moving in a particular direction. But Lucasfilm may not look at it that way when it comes to how or where she will appea.

 

She is litterally Rey Skywalker though.

It does not make sense to have her in front of a marketing campaign for two separate films, that is supposed to be syncronized on the Star Wars timeline in some way. I get it if the Chinoy film is heavily delayed or even cancelled. But having her as an older version in the Levy film first, makes no sense to me. As of now, we dont know anything really. We only know that she was supposed to be «older» in the Chinoy film as well, but that changed later.

 

Would be quite the twist if he was playing the villain or something. I just hope he's not a Han Solo-type.

 

The Skywalker saga is 9 movies. Outside of those 9 movies any appearances shouldn't be adding to the Skywalker Saga.

Syncronized in Star Wars? The franchise hasn't been very syncronized. Its bouncing around more times than anything.

 

Disagree strongly on your definition that it does not add to the saga overall. Both Rogue One, Obi Wan series etc, adds elements to the Skywalker Saga overall - although not being directly under the marketing banner of «Skywalker Saga».

Anyway, we do not know what «unconnected» really means yet. So i just leave it there.

Hopefully someone gets some more info and confirmation and ask Snejder on the Hot Mic tomorrow what Levys movie is about. He clearly sits on info he has not been allowed to share yet.

She may not necessarily be in the marketing of this movie, for all we know. It could just be a surprise cameo or something.

 

Cameos are hardly in the marketing, lol. Like Tarkin in Rogue One

 

I think its fair to say that if Ridley is in the film, cameo or in a bigger role, we are either way going to know about it early in the process. If the Chinoy film is in limbo, and not moving for a few years due to the script being in developement hell - they might find a way to bring her back in different way. After all, she was on stage and was the main focus on the last Celebration. It would be a bit stupid of them to just - hide her away from the audience now, dont you think? Anyway, its hard to speculate before we know of where in the timeline the Shawn Levy film takes place in. Hopefully, we know soon. Its going to shoot this fall. Ridley is unlikely to feature in Mangolds film and Mando/ Grogu of course.
