Is there a list or random generator somewhere for ship names? I need something dynamic and memorable like the ebon hawk or milennium falcon.

A random generator probably isn't going to come up with something dynamic and memorable. This is really something you should come up with yourself, or at least with suggestions other people thought up, not some gibberish a script put together.

With that said, how about "Razor's Edge"? Bird names are sooo played. ;)

I browsed threough a dictionary- an actual, paper one- and flipped until a word popped out to me- "transient", meaning quick or instantaneous. I then put the word "flicker" after it and I have the name of a ship that I use for a couple of different things.

I spent some time in the thesaurus, and I'm thinking either "The Swift Cutlass" or "The Swift Lancet".

I've got a name. The Swift Cutlass. Using negative adjectives in a way that isn't constructive isn't nice. :(

I got most of my "spacey names for things and places" from the real world. For example: Military bases, ships, fighters, combat places. Historical events, people and places. Fairy tales and biblical stuff. They actually use stuff like that in the real movie business. What do you think "SULACO" from Aliens comes from? I´m pretty sure it´s from one of those sources. "NOSTROMO". "Tatooine" - Tatoo? It doesn´t have to relate to the actual thing you want to describe. I won´t tell any names I used for my movie, though.

Whatever you do, don't call it the Stinger.

I can already think of a few ships that bear this name.
(Star Wars, seaQuest.. and I know there's more.)
Oh yeah, it was a character in the Superman returns series.

    Anyhoo.
    Don't use it.

    :)

What do you think "SULACO" from Aliens comes from? I´m pretty sure it´s from one of those sources. "NOSTROMO".

Ridley Scott, David Giler, and Walter Hill are all Conrad fans. Nostromo is the title character of a Conrad book. Sulaco is the port town in Nostromo, which Cameron threw in as a nod to the first film. The shuttle Narcissus is from Conrad's Nigger of Narcissus. Alan Dean Foster even threw in Patna as the name of Bishop's ship in the Alien3 novelisation, which is taken from Conrad's Lord Jim.

And the constant references to 'The Company' are straight from Nostromo and Heart of Darkness.

Why not just call it "The Cutlass". I think the "Swift" is a little too much. Plus "Cutlass" sounds pretty awesome IMHO.

Yeah, awesome like an Oldsmobile! :D

But then again, Lucas gave us a Corellian Corvette.

Grevious's ship is called The Invisible Hand. That's kind of cool.

Did he? I thought he gave us 'Blockade Runner'. I thought it was West End who gave us 'Corellian Corvette'.
