After staring at the TIE shuttle pic for far too long, I've come to agree that the cockpit is most likely symmetrically placed.

Wonder if this thing is supposed to be big enough to carry the troops seen in the teaser?

 

Agreed, Red has primarily been associated with royalty/those in power in Star Wars . Palpatine (office, guards, personal clone troopers, red robes ) and Queen Amidala (red dress, red guards, red pilots)

Definitely someone important and I don't think Kylo Ren at this point. His appearance feels too raggedy and ramshackle compared to what we know of the Empires style.

 

It could be the shuttle of the new Emperor/Empress.

 

Does anyone care that the trooper armor isn't the same as what we're expecting in VII?

 

How so? It looks like it could be the helmet we saw in the teaser to me...

 

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but the Emperor's Royal Guard was only for the Emperor. I don't believe I have ever seen them present for Vader or anyone else from the Empire. They are the Emperor's Royal Guard and if they are present its for him/her yes? Unless they added them in as a place holder or something. But the fact that they are present in the concept along with troops at ceremonial attention makes me think they are there for the head honcho and not just for Fabulous Phasma (you rock my world Gwen).

 

I just can't make out the whole 'continuous' black parts of the mask. It looks like the eyes and mouth are not connected to me.

 

I think the troopers there are from one of the earlier concept phases. They seem to match the troopers in the earlier Imperial Hangar pic from way back. What that means for the shuttle/ ship I'm not sure.

I would like to see a new design of a super star destroyer.

 

It's concept art. You can tell it's closer to the new helmet than the old though. They may not have finalized the trooper look quite yet at that point is all.

 

Just something that sprung to mind. We're seeing a lot more markings on these Imperial style ships in the concept art than we ever did in the original trilogy which were all very uniform. Do you think this is possibly an indicator that there may be several opposing factions in the Empire now and the red markings denote a splinter group or possibly emperor loyalists.

 

I think it denotes a changed Empire under a new ruler.

 

The empire is still the same to me no matter who the ruler is.

Not really it's unique I did not hear anyone have concerns during the prequel period about the stormtroopers change of helmet & armour, maybe I should discuss in the prequel trilogy.

 

Well the multiple factions thing would follow along the lines of the debunked EU...like the Warlord Zsinjj and Ysanne Isard types.

I'm not saying I have a problem with different armor. As most people before you have understood my question - what I was getting at is that this armor is different from the teaser. As others have pointed out, the shuttle concept may have been complete prior to finalizing the armor design. But maybe it didn't, and this isn't art for the film.

 

Well you asked if anyone cared about the armour changing I for one would not have cared since it's a new movie I thought the first clone armour sucked glad of the change in TAOTC & ROTS maybe this version represents the final design before the first galactic war reaches it's conclusion like it did in the novels. Anyway lets move on it seems my posts seem to be slow on the up take.

 

According to Hasbro, the villain has a flagship. I think it's a new kind of Star Destroyer.

 

Good I hope the weapons & shields systems are tough.

 

Shameless bump for this ship/scene. I honesty cannot even find good enough words to explain how much this elevates my excitement for this film.

 

It's like a TIE fighter and an Imperial Shuttle had a baby, which turned out to be much cooler looking than you'd expect their baby to look.

 

It would be pretty hard to surpass The Executor IMO. I remember watching ESB for the first time and saying, "WHAT IS THAT? DEATH?!"

 

It blew my mind too. A Star Destroyer that could just about fit a regular Star Destroyer in it's docking bay.

 

I was thinking the exact same thing....looks like they could rotate 90 degrees forward after takeoff

 

from the profile of the guy on the right, looks like the Chrome trooper. Elongated face with smaller mouth

 

I think that the wings rotate 90 degrees backward (long bit to the back) in flight.

 

If the ships seen in the trailer are og TIE fighters (or slight variations of og TIE fighters), i'm kinda hoping they're only in the first movie. Like, start with the familiar, then end up with newer and newer stuff as the trilogy goes on...to the point where maybe we don't see the classic TIEs anymore, but completely new ships like this TIE/Shuttle.
