The skeleton argument's actually not that great, since you can see Vader's skeleton through his armor and only died because his respirator system was failing, and even then he was alive for a good 10-20 minutes, possibly longer if that hangar was far from the throne room.

But yeah, chances are a combination of shock (not the lightning type :p ) and the intense fall killed Windu. I mean, could he have lived? Sure. It's highly unlikely, but anything could happen.

Actually, it was the Emperor's Force Lightning that killed Vader.

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Battle_of_Endor/Canon

The Emperor can control the lethality of the lightning, as could Tyranus. Vader got a surge of the lethal stuff not torture bolts.

That's basically what I said. The lightning damaged his suit- hence death. ;) And yes, perhaps Palps can control the lethality of his bolts. But either way, lethality level high or low, both Windu and Vader's skeletons were visible when they were zapped. It sure as hell didn't look like Vader suffered from any head trauma, so chances are neither did Windu. More likely his entire body was superheated to the point where his entire nervous system shut down.

Why are you asking me this?

I thought I made myself clear over a year ago when I originally posted this over in PT: ;)
    So, you know, the TL;DR?

    No.

There's a similar thread in the PT forum, and this is my favouritest answer ever:

The lighting attacks the head. If anything it was his helmet and suit that made him last as long as he did. Also remember Luke thought he would die without his mask but Vader's reply was "nothing can stop that now". Once he got bolted by Palpatine who just fired lightning into his head , Vader was a goner. Windu and Vader both got the same skull treatment.

I like how you can see all the mechanical bits of Vader's skeleton. It's kind of ironic that Mace and Anakin both more or less had the same cause of death.

Palpatine probably made sure Mace was dead. This was a guy that nearly killed him after all. Mace came even closer to accomplishing the feat than Yoda. If Mace had decided to kill Palpatine the moment he fell backwards the issue would have been resolved. So I doubt Palpatine would take the chance. He can't be sure if Yoda would die during Order 66 so he needed to off one of them. After seeing Mace's display of strength and his initial reaction to having to facing Yoda, I'm sure he didn't want to risk a possible fight against the both of them as that would undoubtedly result in his death.

I doubt it. Mace isn't an uber popular character like Darth Maul and Boba Fett are. Also, Darth Maul and Boba Fett had deaths that legitimately sucked and it was a mistake to kill them in the first place. Not so with Windu.

    Guys

What if Mace Windu was flung out of the window, loses his memory, somehow manages to grow hair and a sweet ass mustache, takes up a new life as an enforcer for Jabba the Hutt and goes around with having adventures with Greedo, having heated debates about foot massages and quoting the Jedi Code before horribly murdering Jabba's enemies?

That is, until Greedo is unceremoniously shot by Bruce Wil... I mean Han Solo.

The search for Windu's skull.. I could see some criminal down in 1313 using his crania as an ashtray in the now canceled video game.

Of COURSE Mace Windu should return as one of the surviving Jedi in Rebels. Some people from DeviantArt had the same idea cause they made some artwork of what he should look like in SW Rebels;)

There's little to no way that he could have survived his fall and even if he did, what would he do? I honestly don't think he'd have anything to do in Rebels. He'd definitely need to stay undercover because he would DEFINITELY be on a "kill now" list for both Vader and the Empire seeing as he has a high status during the Clone Wars.

Either way you look at it, the chances of him coming back AND fitting into the story are slim. A mention would be nice though... He is one of my favorite Jedi and I would love to see a mention of some kind for him.

True - but Darth Maul was not subject to raw barrages of Sith Lightning ... and question is then how Powerful Sith Lightning's damage is compared to being bisected by a Lightsaber; sure a Lightsaber can kill you straight away - but Sith Lightning - mentally one way or another it could linger for ages and ages potentially eh? Even if you could tank it in ... I mean WHY didn't Mace Windu try Tutaminis - sure his hand was sliced off BUT still surely he is a Powerful Jedi Master and he could have done more so eh? Or in the end Sith Lightning is just nothing to laugh at - particularly Palpatine's if he really vamped it up? I mean Powerful Force Users are still but beings of flesh and blood and if they bleed and can still feel pain ... they can still be hurt eh? Just like Doomsday vs. Superman where Doomsday seemed invulnerable for a good bit before Superman really finally started 'snapping' some of his bones ...

Anyways back to the topic - I've always wondered WHY Mace Windu didn't perhaps return as a Force Ghost to help the Jedi - well Luke and well the Rebellion later ... he is a prominent and Powerful Jedi after all eh? I mean it means Shatterpoint was rather a waste!

By the time of the PT the Jedi had forgotten how to do the Force Ghost trick. 'Being one with the Force' was just a euphemism for dead, until Qui-Gonn learned/discovered how to retain your 'self' after your body passes away - he taught Obi-Wan and Yoda the trick, Anakin got a pass because his daddy was the Force (somehow) so he had a head start. There is no way Mace COULD have been a Ghost, he didn't know how.

Not to mention, the four 'modern' examples all had time to prepare themselves: QG and Vader died slowly and could prepare for what came next, Yoda and Obi-Wan both foresaw their demises and had been ready for it. Mace's death was more 'Oh ****! My hand is gone! Double ****! Force lightning, aarghraarghurrgghhh! Triple ****! The ground approaching at terminal veloci-" *SPLAT* No time to do what needs doing.

Dead should mean dead. Maul somehow surviving was probably the worst decision of the whole TCW run, for me. Two people surviving would be twice as bad.

He should not return. I like that Ashoka has returned but they can't start bringing Jedi back like crazy. Then it begs the question, where the heck were all these Jedi during the Rebellion. Also Mace had his hand cut off, he was shocked by force lighting like crazy, and he was thrown off the top of a building. There is no way he is coming back.

It's possible, they've "brought people back" before, but I really don't see them doing this. It would kind of ruin the dark theme behind ROTS because, well, nearly every Jedi was just betrayed and massacred. Either way though, I think I'd live :)

    UPDATE: He did live
