Should Qui-Gon and Tahl at least have a more romantic relationship before she died?

When I first read that their relationship have changed, I was like "Oh my god", cuz I thought Anakin was supposed to be the only Jedi to have broken the Forbidden Love rule. But then again, not everything is fixed. I was kinda surprised at the turnout, because the Jedi Apprentice books are supposingly aimed at the kids. Oh well.

"I thought Anakin was supposed to be the only Jedi to have broken the Forbidden Love rule."

Nope there were others that got married.

Ki-Adi-Mundi(was given permission, because of how rare men are in cerean species), the Halcyons, the Solusars, Da Bodas.

IIRC, Corellian Jedi generally don't care for what the "big bosses" on Coruscant say or do. They do their own thing. Such as get married.

Well that's true, but as I recall the NEGTC stated that the council still looks down upon them for breaking the rules of the main institution.

You mean that if the Council would give permission, Jedi can marry? Cool.

I think it happened all too fast. In just a few days, Qui-Gon discovered he loved Tahl, and told her, then he lost her. Finally she died. So they really can't have a "more romantic" relationship, but I guess if they can, I would prefer it.

"You mean that if the Council would give permission, Jedi can marry?"

Most likely only if the Jedi was a senior master, and there was a good reason for it.

Another master they allowed to marry apparently was Thracia Cho Leem. Of course she also tended to formally leave the order on sabbaticals from time to time to spend time with her children.

On the flip side if you were only a knight, they forbade you from getting married. You could be chastised if you were(though how so hasn't exactly been established as far as I know).

    I see...well, it looks like we're talking about "Are Jedi allowed to marry" rather than our real subject. 8-}

Well, I know I'm repeating myself, but hey, I'm bored so let me be. Those two {Qui-Gon and Tahl} have too little of time to really use their first relationship as lovers. So...that explains it. :D

Anyway, Tahl isn't in Episode One so you can figure it out probably...the two either broke up or she died. The end. *applauses*

    Nice conclusion, Skywalker.

Sad thing about their relationship is...they don't even have enough time to kiss each other or even just kiss goodbye! :(

Is this the Jedi Apprentice series? (Yet ANOTHER set of books that must go on my reading list!)

Here's my take on it-I'd be willing to bet that Jedi DO have romances from time to time-it's just unavoidable. I'm sure there are Jedi who have "friends with benefits", if you know what I mean. However, I think if it's kept between two Jedi, it's considered better, as long as it doesn't interfer.

(If only because I'm writing a fan fic about Obi-Wan and an original Jedi Knight who is a distant relation of Tyria Sarkin. VERY distant, not a Mary Sue or anything).

I think they should because Tahl does die and Qui-Gon will die later too and they should atleast have some romance

Give me the TotJ era Jedi Order over the Prequel era Jedi Order. At least there Jedi did not frown upon love or marraige.

I think they should have given more romance to the story...it would have been cool to see more of Qui-gon's other sides like he was with Tahl.

    True...very true...

To be honest, I was kinda disappointed that they didn't kiss. I mean, they finally had two Jedi in love (beside Anakin and Padme), why don't give them a chance?
