However, Darth Maul waas the only apprentice sidious did not betray...... would he have betrayed Darth Maul to get Tyranus as his new apprentice as he did with Anakin, Tyranus and Luke?

 

Maul was his fave - and he wouldn't of betrayed him 'cause maul was his 'lil be-be... i bet he still keeps holograms of when he first learned to walk... and when he sliced his first jedi... awww so cute...

 

Sidious would definatly of pitted Maul against Dooku to find who would be the stronger apprentice (even if he had raised Maul from birth, that wouldn't factor into things). Sidious isn't really loyal to Vader either, when he retrieves him from Mustafar its not through compassion, he just wants his prized possession back who can help him rule the Galaxy (the smile on his face when Vader is going nuts in ROTS shows he doesn't care about him). Vader was probably his favourite just because he didn't get himself killed by some young Jedi and did his job well for 20+ years.

 

Palpatine is a user. If he really favored Vader over all others, he would not have been trying to goad Luke into killing Vader and taking his place at the Emperor's side.

Palpatine wants the biggest, baddest, strongest that will secure his position as the ruler of the galaxy.

 

I doubt Sidious has any favourites...He'll use anyone to get what HE wants. He's a Sith for for crying out loud!

Note: I think he really liked Count Dooku but a sacrifice had to be made for the better one. Also, Palpatine does care, to say that he doesn't makes him not human. Humans care about things, Palpatine is a human.
Anakin/Vader had to be his favorite, that's nearly obvious.
