Siddhartha is a very good book about Sidhartha and the Buddha, and his life is very similar to Anakin's. Here is the summary on the back:

"Set in India, Siddhartha is the story of a young Brahmin's search for ultimate reality after meeting with the Buddha. His quest takes him from a life of decadence to ascetism(which is good), through the illusory joys of sensual love with a beautiful coutesan, and of wealth and fame (he was very greedy and mean then, too), to the painful struggles with his son and the ultimate wisdom of renunciation."

I added "he was very greedy and mean then, too" and "which is good" because it doesn't say that in the summary.

Here would be my summary of Anakin's life:

"Set in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars is the story a slave boy's search for power and greatness after meeting a Jedi master. His quest takes him from the life of a slave boy to being a great war hero and Jedi Knight, through the joys of love with a beautiful senator to being an evil sith lord to struggles with his son, to ultimately fulfilling the prophacy of the choosen one and bring balance to the force."

I'm going to read that book in the near future. Nice parallel.
