Sneider says in the newsletter he just dropped that this guy is wrong. I guess we’ll find out eventually who got the more accurate scoop.

Well that article posted gives off the impression he is speculating. If we are talking about this quote here

As for this idea of Simon Kinberg demanding to direct the first one. He hasn't got a great track record with directing for Lucasfilm to do that. He directed 2 movies and i believe both flopped and were not well received. And if they do that let him, then i don't know what Simon Kinberg has over hollywood.

infact the irony would be if these films got made over all the other projects because Simon Kinberg is involved. I been burned in the past giving him benefit of the doubt when he did the X-Men movies.

He’s uncertain whether or not the Obaid-Chinoy film is happening.

He did also say they found a new writer though, he just doesn’t know who it is yet. I feel like if LFL went through the trouble of finding another writer then that means they still wanna make it, but I guess we’ll see.

Yeah, I cannot imagine that this trilogy has anything to do with that film, either by it acting as Episode 9.5 to bridge the ST to the SST, or by superseding it. Likewise, I'm confused at Sneider's suggestion that Levy's film would involve an older Rey, because that sounds identical to the concept that Damon Lindelof came up with Helen Mirren.

I can see them going with a director like Justin Lin. It’ll definitely be a journeyman.

Incorrect. Goldman and Vaughn wrote the final draft.

Kinberg did an uncredited rewrite during production. He wrote the reshoots of which there were many.

The one-two-three punch of amazing writer Steven Knight dropping out of a Star Wars project, crap writer Simon Kinberg being given a Star Wars trilogy, and Orange Horror Clown being given the United States, is too much for me right now.

The most interesting part at this point is KK leaving next year. It is just no serious anymore the number of projects announced by either LFL or the trades and then erased from the map.

Also not sure about these “sources”. Strongly doubt Taika’s movie, Lando or Rogue Squadron are alive at all.

LFL needs a solid panel next year during Celebration Japan to put some clarity to what is really under development.

Cool. Admittedly Kinberg seems to have a better record as a producer than as a writer, but he did work on Rebels, and that’s definitely a plus in my book. At least Lucasfilm seems to have learned their lesson with regard to having a unified creative approach after the disjointed ST.

    [:D]
If it’s any consolation I doubt Kinberg will be the only writer on these movies.

And thus the cycle begins anew....

Projects announced and then projects canceled.

Kinberg is always the final writer on his movies. His quote is massive.

Sounds good, so a movie where Rey Skywalker is the Main character. And a Trilogy where Rey is the Obi Wan figure and one where she is an old mentor

Its funny that this makes the headlines much more than the other projects being developed. «A new Star Wars Trilogy», they like the sound of that. Even one of my close friends who do not care about Star Wars had read the news yesterday. Bob Iger also steps down in 2026, and with Kennedy also expecting to do so, i think they both needs to outline the future for the next 10 years for Disney/ Star Wars. So, the shareholders, will like this.

Kinberg has co-writer (at the least) on Days of Future Past which is amazing, and developing Rebels is no slouch

I’m too worn out to even discuss it. Just give us a good film and let’s go from there.

I think Lindelof wanted his movie (that he was writing for Sharmeen) to be about Rey starting the Jedi order for the first time but waiting until she was like 90 to do so, but LFL didn’t agree with that, so Lindelof goes and Steven Knight comes (and Daisy along with him), but maybe LFL was still interested in the idea of doing something with Rey as an old lady, but having the Jedi order back in full swing by that point, so enter Shawn Levy.

In short, what began life as one project then evolved into two projects, with a trilogy in between now.

It’s probably gonna be something like this:

Sharmeen’s movie: Rey just has a handful of apprentices, at most.

Kinberg trilogy: Maybe about like 20 or so jedi masters, like a Knights of the Round Table situation.

Levy’s movie: Jedi order back to PT-level numbers.

I dont think we see PT era jedi numbers for long time like 500 years later. As that number was around 10 000-50 000.
