You guys do realize Conan only wrote one episode right?

He was a producer, not writer. And left in 1993. The show didn't start sucking until season 8.

Actually, this season has been an improvment over last. The 2 that were on last sunday were mixed, the second one was decent but the first was crappy.

Yes its not even in the same realm as before, but its still worth watching imo.

The second one was a rerun from last season. I guess that throws your little theory out the window :p

The thing that I think has really killed them lately is overkill. For example in one I remember Milhouse made a joke about how much his dad crys. Leave it there its funny but they went on to show his dad crying, not just a little bit but with every other word. Or the re run we had here tonight (where Grimes's son comes for revenge) Moe's egg jar gets shot and he says he wished he had taken more pictures, funny. Going on to show the pictures, beating a dead horse.

I don't know, I still find them funny. There must be something funny about them to still be going strong after all these years.

After his homosexual kiss on Sunday, I don't think I can look at Homer without cringing.

    That just wasn't right.....

It shows how much you guys are into the show...the "kiss" is from last years run.

The Simpsons is still very funny. There has been some misses, but on the whole, the show is still very good.

I love the Simpsons and always had since the first season. I agree that in retrospect older episodes seem funnier but (to me anyway) that's due to the nostalga (sp?) that I get every time I see an old episode. My brothers and I used to be able to quote entire episodes, laughing the whole way through. That's what I remember and that's what I love.

The new episodes are still funny. Homer riding his bike down the offramp, screaming? Hilarious.

This weeks episode was good, but it pails in comparison to episodes done when they were at there height. I think my favorite episode is the one with Scorpio. Thats a classic episode.

    Top 4 Episodes (IMHO)

    1. Lisa the Vegitarian/Homer's BBBQ
    2. 300 lb. Homer
    3. Bart Vs. Australia
    4. Scorpio

Only 4 episodes because I had about 10 that I wanted to put at # 5 inlcuding Comet, Hockey, Radioactive Man Movie, 2 Area Codes, New York, Monorail, Mr. Plow, Ralph in Love, Burns' Casino, Stonecutters, and Mark Hamill.

I gave up watching the Simpsons around 2000, I think. I used to be such a huge fan of the show, but it's not fun to watch it when it's become so bad.

I think the reason for the shows drop in quality can be summed up in two (or maybe three?) words: Jerkass Homer. In the earlier episodes, Homer may have been stupid, but he still tried to help out his family. Now, he's just a selfish pigheaded jerk. He's not funny anymore, frankly.

I'd agree with that. I was talking about this with one of my friends the other day and he said that there was too much focus on Homer. They used to alternate between a Homer ep, then a Marge ep, Bart ep, Liza, some extra, etc. Lately they've all been about Homer who ironicaly is turning into Peter Griffen.

I love the Simpsons and always will. I think they're still funny as hell. Anyone who can come up with such great stores like "Bloodbath and Beyond" and the "Ear Piercery: If it dangles, we'll punch a hole in it", they're freaking comic geniouses.

South Park blows. I have never liked that stupid show. Bunch of whiney, annoying kids.

King of the Hill is a great show...they are getting great guests too, like Brad Pitt was on, they had Willie Nelson, that was a classic episode.

    My problems with it:

They've turned Homer into a complete fool. Well, actually worse. He used to be a dumb idiot who made a few mistakes. Now he's gotten much stupider. The good thing is that the show sometimes pokes fun at this. However, I prefer it the way it was before.

It should be serious at least sometimes. I mean, take this example. I thought the first episode where Homer found his mom was awesome. The emotion and depth, but still with comedy was great. However, the recent episode with his mom, was a too gag-heavy, and just when you might have gotten partly emotion-wrapped, it turned into a massive gag again. For the time it was serious, I thought the show was back. Then I was dissapointed. I thought this particular episode was better than a lot of others though.

its funny, because most of the people saying they dont like Simpsons anymore will probably end up watching it until its run is over ;)

I used to love it, still love it, and will love it when it goes off the air
