Hello, I dug around in the forum and I googled but I didn't find anything about how they created the effect with Kevin's glasses. I'm doing a little spoof with some friends and any advice would be great.

    Thanks!

Hmm, you might be able to find some answers in here...if I find something directly related to the glasses I'll post it as well. :) Hope that helps!

Simple rotoscoping, like a lightsaber. Yes, that means hand-drawing it frame-by-frame.

Paint the glasses greenscreen green - and then chroma-key everything other than the glasses out of frame. Once you have this separate ?glasses layer? - you can colour correct them to be what ever colour you like (like white for Kevin).

Then layer the altered glasses layer back over the top of the original footage.

    Easy as that. :D

I dont think that would work, its been tryed with sabers but the motion would make it very hard.

I think keying would work better than with sabers, considering you wouldn't be swinging your head around at X number of miles per hour. But it would still involve quite a bit of roto cleanup work.

And there's no glow to be added.

Maybe just a touch of blur on the edges so they fit, and yes, cleanup.

That's true of almost any color key though.

But you really don't want any blur along the edges. The actual effect has a very clean, hard line with no blur. Hence the need to rotoscope to insure the edge stays clean.
