Yay I got my Sith Witch/Nightsister costume done for Wizard World Chicago :] I've not seen too many Nightsisters out there, so I wanted to do one! I know they don't use lightsabers, but I wanted people to associate my character with Star Wars-related when they saw the lightsaber :]

Here's a good shot taken by a friend that shows the bottom part well :]

I based the design off of several witches in the Star Wars Galaxies game. I'm planning on making another one (This was a "test run", haha). This is the on I plan I doing: (any tips on where I might beable to get the feathers or a substitute for feathers and not worry about them bending would be extremely helpful and appreciated it :] And also, where can one purchase liquid latex paint? :D)

    Thank you ^_^

Very cool, the lance might also be not so hard to make. Maybe you should think about it :)

Yep, I've already got as many resource pictures as I could find for the energy lance printed up and in my planning book. That would be really cool to use (even though, have you ever seen a nightsister use it? i Know that they drop them..but they always use obscure weapons, like a scythe blade. Who knows :} Thank you for the thought!)

Well I saw them use it in my time on SWG. Even though I didn?t get into the game for over year I still kind of remember and I think they use it pretty much like a double bladed sabre.

I like the idea of this costume, cause like you said nobody is doing it so far I think

You are probably right :D I need to make one, I just need to find someone that's willing to help me out with it :] I'm not very good at making material things that involve tools, haha. The Right Armor Bicep took me quite some time to do ( I wanted to prove to myself that I could make it without being dependent on someone else!! ) I used rivets and everything! Hahah that's a big step for me :] I want to make a Singing Mountain Clan witch also ^_^

    Thank you :]

Wow that is a great costume. I would like to make something like this myself but I do not have the game. Is there any place to go to get more pics for reference? If I can get a better look at this costume, I can help you with your own questions about this as well. :D

    Thank you for the compliments ^_^;

There really aren't many reference pictures online that I am aware of of this costume. Most of the ones I have are large ugly screen caps. I have a few detailed ones, but nothing major :/ I'm not sure if they would be of any help :]

Ah that's awesome that you are doing Darth Nihilus! I did a Visas Marr costume from KotOR II! Here's some pics: ( I made the soft armor/cloth parts for the Darth Revan in the background :], and that's me in Visas

Awesome costumes. I actually have friends who want to make both of those costumes. :D

Well if you can offer help, let me know on any of these costumes, send a pm.

The world would be a better place if we had more Sith running around! [face_laugh]

For Visas, I'm currently re-making it out of different material, and I didn't have a pattern or save the one I made (I wish I did becasue I'm going to re-make it, ah well :/) and the Darth Revan has his own way of how he made it. His thread is here (you can also give him a PM @ ChronoPoint) and ask him for tips :p Tell him Moy sent you :p)

He can probably help you more than I can :} I only made the fabric part of the costume (which is icky small tedious work, haha )

Thank you for the wonderful praise :] Give an e-mail at Stungunmoy@yahoo.com if you need any more questions answered! I would be more than happy to answer them.

I found some wonderful concept art for a nightsister, incase anyone else was interested in doing this costume (or one like it). Here's the picture:

As I said before, any help on where I might find some large feathers would be helpful :] Thanks!

You might also want to read Courtship of Pricess Liea and take a look at some of the covers for the Young Jedi Knights books. Both reference Dathomiri costumes, which tend to be made from reptile hides. Kirana Ti, Tenel Ka, and the Nightsister Tamith Kai all wear reptile hide armor. You might consider using leather or vinyl with an alligator skin texture for your next costume.

The Courtship of Princess Leia is an excellent book :] I have read it before. It's a very good book with descriptions of the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Thank you for the advice anyhow :]

    Greetings Mary,

I very much enjoyed encountering you at Wizard World. I had read a post speaking about your Nightsister and was watching for your interpretation. I think your costume came out quite well. I especially enjoyed your fabric treatment; the belt material was nicely distressed.

I would support the idea of ditching the lightsabre for a more traditional Nightsister weapon, like the vibrostaff or sword. While the lightsabre does connect the costume to Star Wars, the lightsabre itself does not connect to Nightsiterhood. To my thinking, it better to make the suit 100% Nightsister and be recognized by 2-3% of Star Wars fans, than to be associated with Star Wars by 90% of random conventioneers. Again, this is just my personal preference. I look forward to your future creations.

The Visas is very nice, nicest I have seen actually. I'd like to see more images.

    Be well,
    Thomas

I agree with Thomas. The only time i would consider giving a Nightsister costume a lightsaber is if it were a costume of Tamith Kai from the YJK books, or Lomi from the NJO.

Thanks Thomas for your much appreciated input :] I am going to ditch the lightsaber! I want to make a vibron lance of some sourt, or perhaps no weapon like a traditional Nightsister :]

It was so fun meeting you at Wizard World! Your Durge made me blink several times to see if it was real, because it was SO EXCELLENT! I couldn't have guessed that anyone would have pulled it off, but you did, WITH EXTRA MARKS! Great job :] Keep in touch! Thanks again ^_^ I can't wait to get my next Nightsister costume a go. I'm getting some very nice help concerning the purchasing of materials, all of which contacting me through this forum. Very nice :]
