Not been on this forum for ages, genuinely surprised at all the positives for this show. The story is just puerile nonsense with the usual lazy Disney writing. Some fun parts for sure and some nice character design. I actually got bored halfway through episode 7 and switched it off, I’ll watch the rest in the next few days but I don’t really care about any of the characters or the outcome. Ok it’s a masterpiece compared to the last couple of series but that’s not saying very much. Rogue One, Andor, first 2 seasons of Mando - fantastic. The rest just awful, and that includes this show. And I don’t agree with the whole it’s for kids argument. It’s just lazy and poorly written. First time I’m actually considering cancelling my Disney subscription as I can’t see them pulling out of this steep decline right now - time to rest Star Wars I think. Less is more.

Eh? - it’s just an opinion, been a fan for 48 years so feel qualified to have my views. Just sad to see such a great legacy flushed down the toilet!

Then move on. Your great legacy has always been criticized by someone since 1977. There was no internet back then, so there is no trace of it.

Haha i do love angry children on the internet. I don’t need you telling me to move on thanks very much, or are you the only person on this forum? Of course there has always been criticism, please don’t make assumptions that old fans views are meaningless. That’s ageist and inappropriate.

Star Wars gets new fans all the time and old fan should accept the new reality or move on. GL, Kathleen, Disney its all still the same

Lets cut down the anti-banter, and focus on the show...

... watched with the kids yesterday, and genuine gasps when
    Jod appeared on the ship
and then squeals of glee when
    SM33 punched Jod.

We were all super pleased about that.

    And then super gasp when
    his head went off.

All in all, the kids are enjoying it, I'm enjoying it, I know what I'd like from the show (if Jod had called the Empire out of spite for example, the story might connect more to the wider Mandoverse), but otherwise I am very much enjoying it so why bother about my requirements as an adult. Nice to be a kid again.

Actually that’s not me at all. I’m neither stuck up or a smartass. And I’m still watching as I know there are still chances that some decent shows are out there. Andor took me by surprise and I’m still hopeful I’ll get to see more great Star Wars content but I’m getting a little jaded by what I’ve seen recently. And I’d rather this returned to a conversation about the show than an argument, life’s too short! Peace out.

So, the kids helped Jod murder Brutus. Not intentionally of course, but if it were not for them, things may have played out differently. I wonder how they feel about that, and will it be a factor in things upcoming?

I’m going to renege on my original opinion that this should be a strictly one-and-done limited series, specifically because I think Jude Law’s Jod is such a strong character. He has the magnetism be Star Wars’ Jack Sparrow and I sincerely hope he has a continued role beyond this series.

I for one thank you for your input/review.

I hate the "you not a fan get out!" mentality, not only is it skirting very close to the films not fans rule, it's also good to have a variety of opinions. It's extremely boring to be in an echo chamber.

However I respectfully disagree with a couple of your opinions

    1) if you don't care about the characters of the show, that is your prerogative of course, but that doesn't really sound like a writing problem but a you problem. The characterisation has been of the biggest strengths of this show by the majority of those that watch it.

    2) I definitely do not agree with you that it is lazy and poorly written, what is lazy about it? What is poorly written? so far it's been largely unpredictable. And most of all a lot of fun

it's good that you see some merits in the character design though :D

That's fair enough. I didn't expect much from the Skeleton Crew either, but it ended up being a very pleasant surprise. And I'm really looking forward to Andor too!

Thinking about it, did Brutus actually die? Do they have stun settings on blasters? Stun was used in the show by droids.

They have done a great job at keeping the audience guessing. And in a very cool and interesting way as opposed to weird and frustrating.

The show needed Jod to become an actual threat by the end of this episode. Killing Brutus does that. Plus cutting of SM-33’s head.

If Jod is more good in the end the show might walk that back and have Brutus only stunned. For now anyway - he’s dead.

Brutus is so dead. I think that was his purpose on the show, for Jod to illustrate he is not a hidden good guy by cowardly blowing his head off.

Wasn’t there that image in episode 1 of an ancestor of Neel’s while they were in their garage? I seem to recall the camera lingering on the back wall of the garage and there being an alien who looked like Neel but from the distant past. It did feel like a potential clue at the time but I’d forgotten about it until now.

I figure we’re all friends in the world of Star Wars tbh! - I do find it odd how uneven the shows or even episodes are, but it does at least keep it interesting and is the direct result of more people making the final decisions as opposed to just GL, which again is probably a good thing.
Weird coincidence - my son is involved in property and tells me Jude Law may be buying a local coastal property, and has been seen driving around - so if I bump into him in a coffee shop I’ll ask him how much he enjoyed making it!

This show has resurrected the child in me, and I'm older than all of you, made me feel like I'm watching SW for the first, and then lining up again and again. It's hard to become cynical when so many shows I end up becoming a fan, get snatched away or fall apart. I'll enjoy the wonder of SC as long as I can.

A bitter jagged at times* but I liked it a lot. Jod seems fairly irredeemable, but I'm also guessing there will be one more flip of perspective based on a revolt against the Supervisor.

*Agree with a poster upthread who speculated parts of this episode got chopped to bits.

Well, this part is for sure true.
That one on the other hand, couldn't be further from the truth.
Also, why would you put in the same sentence a creative genius with a suit?

Anyway, if anyone doesn't watch to watch Skeleton Crew, they're not obligated. Indeed, they can move on.
I personally love it, and think that it's one of the most well written shows we've gotten.
