It makes even less sense when one looks at the fact that all tv-shows so far hold little bearing on the larger fate of the galaxy, so by that standard they could all be skipped.
Quite frankly, things get very tiresome if everything is always about the highest possibly stakes all the time. There is so much you can get out of personal stories.

And yes, the decisive factor should be whether one want so see something or not.

For me, I found the ending a little lacklustre - though, I maintain perspective of who the true target audience (younger children) was for the show. Overall, I enjoyed this season and this new instalment into the greater Star Wars story. It was a fun adventure and there were a number of great new planet locations and other locations in continuing to make this magical Galaxy even bigger. But the ending fell short for me and led to a predictable response in the New Republic showing up. The irony here though is in Mon Mothma's massive mistake of disarming and reducing the size of the Rebellion/New Republic fleet - with this reliance on squadrons of X-Wings to act as Galactical Sherriffs will be part of their downfall a number of years later. In every show so far where the New Republic comes to the rescue, I don't recall seeing 1 Frigate accompanying these X-Wings. I guess they (the New Republic) thought that their real enemies after the fall of the Empire were pirates and other Underworld types.

IMO, the best part of this finale was that massive hive droid mind. I have seen this sort of thing before in other media (such as computer games), but I haven't seen this in Star Wars before. So that was pretty cool, a great new addition and I loved the design. My son had correctly guessed what this Supervisor/Controller was in observing how all of these other droids behaved. He thinks that even Battle Droids have more personality than the At Attin Droids.

I have really enjoyed KB's character throughout this season and in the finale, she didn't disappoint me. Although Wim appears to be destined to be an X-Wing pilot (my interpretation of the scene at the end when he looks up and smiles at the X-Wings in a way that says "I want to fly one of those things") in the future, I would love to see the KB character used somewhere in a future storyline too.

Apart from this, there wasn't much more that satisfied my narrative itch. True to the end, Jod was pretty much one-dimensional in only caring about "cold hard credits". Although this is fine with me because I think the Galaxy needs more people like this (people with varying and very limited Force Ability - enough to do the odd party trick), I don't see much in the Jod character-arc in being central (or essential) to the narrative of a second season. I love the fact that he received limited Jedi-training before his Master was slain during Order 66 and I love the fact that he has used this knowledge for selfish means; rather than to be a good person. This fits the mold of all the shades of grey between Jedi and Sith and it reinforces ideas from The Last Jedi that the Force can exist in a great number of people at different levels. In many ways, despite it affecting his character growth, I hope they keep Jod like this.

One scene that I didn't mind and it draws comparisons for me to that lame Vespa Gang in TBOBF, were the kids on their hoverbikes - or whatever they were. The directors didn't have them do all of these lame amazing things against a seasoned criminal gang - like the Pykes in what happened in TBOBF. The chase was believable enough for me and even one of the bikes was blown up. It felt right for kids - much unlike that Vespa Gang.

And finally, the only path I can see for a second season is that of a view mentioned on the previous page. I too had thought that this massive stash of credits would/could help fund The First Order. There is no other narrative than that which could lead to an interesting story in a second season. Everything else presented, even in Jod's character< doesn't warrant further seasons. But tie that stash into The First Order and that would be good. Hopefully Filoni doesn't waste this potential idea on Thrawn or Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

That ignores the reality of the NR clearing out those vaults and spending it all on social programs and rebuilding infrastructure across the galaxy.

Wim looking up at those fighters reminded me of Luke, at numerous points in ANH. Despite all he's gone through he's still the same kid who wants to have adventures doing good.

I think it’s more to do with the ‘stakes’ and how that manifests (or is perceived) in the ‘drama’. It’s why typically things like James Bond and Mission Impossible revolve around sizeable threats to world safety/stability rather than smaller scale threats. For example, I think License to Kill is a really good Bond film, but it often get criticised for being more akin to Miami Vice than James Bond… a bit too small and low key. I personally don’t agree, but I get why others think that.

    I gave this a 10/10.

I think the finale was very well done and satisfying. I was really surprised the planet was powered by some robotic power source. That was unexpected. It might've been good for a power source, but man it wasn't much of a source for protection since Jod sliced it easily. Speaking of which, he has been an interesting character and always kept people on their toes. I did like finding out he was a padawn during Order 66. I do wonder who was his Master though. He obviously was the opposite of Kanan.

The scene with KB on the ship didn't go as expected and I'm glad it didn't. Let me explain. I thought when she was going down with SM-33 that...well she wouldn't. I thought she'd go down for a second and pull up, but you really don't know what happened. Now, I didn't think they'd kill her though. That'd be too dark.

I did enjoy seeing the New Republic come in as well and save the day.

Overall, I liked the show. Is it my favorite and am I begging to see a new season? No. I liked the characters though and thought they did a good job of making you care for new, young characters. Where they go from here who knows.

I'm happy with the conclusion, especially the big ol' hug with KB that resonates with childlike purity. Jod's story proved well enough his touches of the Force ... it would have been nice to cram him into https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Blazing_Chain with its pragmatic use of Force powers, but it seems that was not to be. Perhaps folks felt the BC ought to remain in gaming realms and thus not muddy the good/evil vibes of simple Jedi vs. Sith.[face_dunno]

On the subject of the acting quality of the kids, I was very impressed overall. I too am often unfairly harsh in my judgement of child actors, but this group had to act opposite a veteran Oscar-nominated and Laurence Olivier award-winning actor for large stretches--and they never got visibly out-classed. That deserves some laurels.

X wing pilot says “double shields forward” when coming in

was that a reference to the X-wing/TIE fighter games? I don’t remember there really being any direct acknowledgment of power system allocation in the live action stuff

That phrasing may be particular to the video games but there’s definitely a “Switch all power to front deflector screens” in ANH

ETA: There is also an explicit mention of setting the shields to “double front”

Couldn't Jod have tried to talk his way out of it when the Supervisor said the last communication was the Jedi were traitors? I am sure he knows the broad strokes and could have tried to explain Palpatine's scapegoating of the Jedi, declaring himself Emperor, the Rebellion and establishment of the NR.

Fair enough, considering this was peppered with references to 90’s PC gaming, I thought that was another instance

I gave it a 7/10. It's the only one that I was able to be in time to vote for.

So that's it? We don't know what happened with John, much less who was that Jedi who trained him. It was nice seeing the "goog guys" with X-Wings coming in to save the day. Was that the Tantive IV making an appearance? I guess they wanted to includes subtle cameo for good measure without blowing things out of proportion with a CGI General Leia.

Overall, I personally didn't particularly care for this series; my reservations on watching it when it first released was from the trailers. I just didn't get the appeal. At the end of the day, it was a series meant for kids and families. If that's what you're looking for, more power to you. I'm not sure what to make of the child actors; but at least they can all say that they have their own Funky Pops (I've seen them in stores).

I think they stuck the landing on the finale. The pirates went down, At Attin is opened up to the galaxy, and Jod escapes.
