Having a good read through on your thoughts on the PT. It's divided. I went to that first 9am showing for TPM and first time - I really liked it. It had flaws - but what film doesn't. Every saga has a beginning as they say.... Then I went to the 8pm showing that same day. It faltered... The cracks were very apparent in performance, cast chemistry, dialogue and some questionable CGI composition. I won't mention Jar Jar because i'll want to burn the prequel DVD's then... Same with AOTC, I enjoyed it first then by the second showing - BANG! But by ROTS after coming out of that opening midnight showing - I travelled home in silence. It could have been the saving grace - but it felt rushed and wooden. My love for the saga died a little. I literally got home and picked up my SSD Executor VHS set and stroked it like everything was going to be ok. It died a little more after, but I always had the unaltered OT to rely on. Fanboy life had a series of tumbleweeds rolling by for 3 years after (including a rather awkward trip to Celebration Europe with my ex). Then a fan edit (Star Wars Revisited) got me so choked and emotional making me feel like I was a kid again that it sent me back into fanboy overdrive. I relegated the my Region 1 PT DVD's to collection fillers and that was it. As a whole - the PT made a few waves upon first viewing, but essentially didn't deliver. I think the hate for the PT is driven by a dividing wall of fans. Some will argue that the films are trash (I somewhat agree) while younger fans will defend them to the hilt as that was the SW they grew up with. Kind of like EU fandom vs Anti-EU fandom. As for Episode VII - it seems like a love letter to the older fans. All the co-ordinates are set, it's now or never...
But you know as soon as that first teaser hits the internet - you're gonna go wild in anticipation. If the teaser proves fruitful
