... and probably a TIE to go with it.

My main question is: which to buy?

I want something with some size to it, and hopefully one I can hang from the cealing. So, which is the best one to scour eBay for? It looks like the POTF Electroninc X-Wing is the way to go, but is it really good? Just the best one out there? Something better? Will Hasbro make another kind with the Saga Line?

To go with the X-Wing, I also definatly need some sort of TIE. Preferable a regular Fighter, or maybe an Interceptor. So, which one is best?

If you want to go with ships closer to correct scale, I'd maybe go with the TRU exclusive Red leader X-Wing and the Target exclusive Tie fighter with larger solar wings. You might even be able to still find the Tie at some Targets. (But it's $40.00).

    True, Code 3s are wonderful.

Unfortunatly, the only way to get a X-Wing now is from some 3rd party. Ugh. Need money!

True. Especially in earthquake country (I have everything else tacked down with earthquake putty)

I have the Code 3 Slave I and I definitely wouldn't want to hang it from the ceiling. It's the display case for that ship!

The best X-Wing mold that Hasbro's ever produced is without a doubt the POTF2 "Electronic Power F/X" version.

It has been re-released twice since then as TRU Exclusive in a slightly different form. The electronics were removed, as well as the Luke & R2 "figures" that were permanently stuck to the ship. The first version was in a slightly dirtier Dagobah styled paint scheme and included an R2-D2 figure but no Luke. The second version was in a very clean "Red Leader" scheme and included a pilot but no R2 unit.

I personally would prefer the re-released versions, since they're a bit lighter and I like the ability to swap droids & pilots out if I would like to.

As for the TIE Fighter...the current Target exclusive version is almost perfect. They're using a retooled version of the same slightly inaccurate cockpit ball that has always been around, but this time the wings are properly proportioned to it. Some of my stores locally seem to have recently put a few more of those bad boys out on the shelves, so you might want to check there rather than eBay first.

I have the Dagobah version and it's sweet. Red Leader was tempting, but a little too far out of my budget.

Hey, if you are afraid of them fallling and breaking, go with the LEGO models! That way if they fall and break, you just put them back together! No loss or damage!

Well, it did just take a dive through Dagobah swamp muck. ;)

It is a bit too dirty, I agree...but in person it looks a little better than that pic.

Of course, in the package it looked fantastic...

I keep that one out of the box, but still in the cardboard backing. The same with the Wal-Mart Exclusive Snowspeeder. It looks cool still sunk in the cardboard snow.

So which of these is better, so I know what to look for. I have no intention of buying it now for $46.

I would just stick to what I know best with the tie and x-wing and just go vintage especially the tie interceptor which I think is the best one out there :D

Well, I just got the TIE today... I think I'm going to go with the regular POTF X-Wing. Since its just going to be hanging from the cealing, I don't think I require having seperate figures (although the one with the removeable Luke is the one I would really want)

This TIE is huge, I hope the X-Wing can keep up!

Any word if they are going to release the X-Wing again in the next year? Maybe a Y-Wing? Naw.. thats just hopefull thinking...

    Anything's possible.

The Power F/X mold X-Wing has a decent chance I think just because it's the SW ship, and the fact that it was released in 2002 and 2004...so 2006 would seem to be on schedule for another re-hash of it. I don't think we'd see it until closer to the end of the year though, perhaps in time for the holidays.

The Y-Wing is less likely, though. That mold was brought back during the OTC line with a new paintjob...and while I can see them putting the X-Wing on shelves every couple of years the Y-Wing doesn't have the same kind of selling power.

Rebelscum's been reporting some rumours of a B-Wing this year and I think that one definitely has a chance. That's the mold that has been off the shelves for the longest out of the Rebel fighters...so it would make sense for them to bring it back. It is also the only one that hasn't gotten an alternate paintjob yet which I think also works in its favor.

I would love for them to do that. The B-Wing has always been my favorite starfighter from the OT.
