? was Vader finding out the fate of Padmé ?
Remember that in AOTC at the time Anakin slaughter the TR, Yoda was meditating and all of a suden he hears a scream ( nooooooooo).
Back in the day there were several theories : it was QuiGon, it was Anakin, it was whatever.
But after ROTS, it seems the puzzles was solved. Or not?

Might just be me being stupid...but I thought it was Anakin discovering the fate of his mother, and slaughtering the TR. Could be mistaken though, I'm sad to say I never paid to much attention to it at the time.

Hmmph. Meditate on this, I will.

I think it was the feeling Anakin had from his mother dying as well as his reaction of murdering the village of TR's.

Official sources list it as being Qui-Gon, but it's Anakin's voice, so it can't be Qui-Gon. Sorry, Starwars.com. It just can't be.

    Its Qui Gon.

Or at least it is supposed to be.

the line goes like this: various massacre sound effects, then "Anakin! Anakin! Nooo!" followed by the sound of Darth Vader's breathing.

Liam Neeson couldn't make it to the studio to record the line himself (possibly due to his motorcycle accident) so some trickery was used. "Anakin! Anakin!" is in fact Liam Neeson, taken from TPM--"Anakin--drop!" as Maul drives by in his speeder. The "Anakin" part was extracted and then looped twice. The "Nooo!" is supposed to be Qui Gon but there was no clip of Liam Neeson to fill in for this so they had someone else do the reading; unfortunatly whoever they chose sounds nothing like Neeson.

The idea I suppose is that its a ripple in the force; Anakin's emotions of the slaughter are sensed by Yoda, reprented by the lightsaber and Tusken Raider screaming effects, and Qui Gon is able to briefly break the barrier to the physical world; the ripple ends with a 'vision' of the future, in the form of Vader's mechanical breathing.

    Hope that clears things up.

When he is meditating before his fight/death in EP1, that is when he is activating his ability to become immortal.

I always thought it was a TR. Then I thought it should be Qui Gon but the voice was all wrong. It does sound a bit like Vader though, maybe they should redo the audio for that scene to give a clear answer.

    See people,

the ?Anakin, Anakin? part of the scream heard by Yoda was definitively QuiGon's.
But about the ? Noooooooo? part there was always doubt.
Back in 2002, at the time of AOTC's release, one of the first spoilers about ROTS was that scream would be about Anakin wearing Vader's mask for the first time.
I think it's interesting how such an old spoiler was about right.
Maybe Lucas really had a plan all the way ;)

I remember hearing Qui-Gon go, "Anakin, Anakin!" then hearing a, "NOOOOOO!", To me, it was Anakin learning the fate of Padme

It was Qui-Gon yelling, that there was no turning back for Anakin now, that he has now crossed the line of no return!!!

having Anakin's reaction to Padme's fate doesnt make sense. Why would this be happening? The reason Qui Gon says 'no' is because he is horrified to see the chosen one using the dark side, thus the vader breathing is a prmonition of the consequences of Anakin's action in that moment.

Yep, I was watching AOTC today on Fox and picked up on it. Definitely sounds like Qui-gon. Makes a lot of sense too.

wait a sec here. I have AOTC on DVD and if you see the special features section of this DVD they talk about this very scene. Even though Yoda is meditating during Anakin's apparent unjedilike behavior he is not feeling the force in regards to that particular moment in time. Accourding to Rick McCallum Yoda was scensing an event that was relevent to the future in regards to Anakin. I do believe that he said it was a criticle piece to a puzzle about Epidode III which would come together when the movie was released.

I have seen Episode III and am still confused.

I had questions about this also. The relavance, the meaning, who it was, why?? so on.....

But I now really think that it was Qui Gon reacting to Anakin murdering the Tuskin Raiders, the Nooooo, is a vision/sense of the future.

    Vader's reaction to Padme's death.

Yoda basically felt Anakin's first step to the Dark Side via Hate. And then in response to this instance, saw the future and his final acceptance of the Dark Side with the noooooooo.

(I think the noooooo, is truly when he is filled with total hate, anger, and is now truly evil. Ani dead, Vader alive)
