And say what? Whenever I call or walk into the store itself to ask, they just point me right back to the online application. Which, chances are, I've already filled out. Twice.

Then you tell them that. Say "Well, I already filled out the application online. I'm really interested in the job and was wondering if I could get an interview."

Take all this with a grain of salt though. I have yet to actually get a job. Tomorrow is the moment of truth. Or Tuesday. If I get this job, THEN I'm an expert.

Stupid Target, I hate that place, I bet the job sucked anyways.

    That sucks.

At least you managed to actually go through with it this time, unlike the asking out a girl thread. Although the results have certain. . .similarities. . .

In all seriousness, I remember my first struggle to get a job. Ended up working at an Ethiopian restaurant--that was really fun.

    I love Target.

And my friend works there, he's a cart-boy. He loves it, he gets to stay in the break room and play pinball, but thats besdies the point really

I feel your pain dude. I haven't been able to get any definite job offers except fast food (which I decided I don't want to work at). It seems like retail would be an easy enough job to get, but it's really hard. (Though I think I have a fairly good chance of getting hired at my local Carmike Theater now.)

But anyway, hang in there. You'll get another offer I'm sure. :)

You'd probably make more money working fast food, than you would at a theater. Though, the free mvies would be a cool benefit.

^I did, but then quit after my training period because my local grocery store acted like they would give me a job. But then they told me they didn't need me after stringing me along for several days. So, now I'm looking for a new (non-fast food) job. :)

Yep, your right about that. McD's paid me $5.35/hour wearas Carmike will only pay me around $5.15/hour. But, the work will be alot more fun, so I'm willing to take the small pay cut. :)

Wow, they pay crappy wages what ever state it is you live in. Mariah makes like ten bucks an hour, and I know that they pay like 7 or 8 bucks an hour for those types of jobs where I live.

The grand total of 3. :p

Word. Wages here are always crazily low for these type of jobs (I live in Alabama, btw). And that's really one of the big reasons I quit McD's. They make you do a ton of work for the small amount you get paid.

All I can say use whatever connections you have, they work wonders when getting a job. I've been trying for a couple years, and finally got a job (started yesturday) making $9 an hour setting up and moving furniture around at a local furninture store. My mom's one of three managers their and when she heard their was an opening from the top boss, he really seemed to want me, so yeah, connections are good.

Yep, I did get paid. (I got $72 for my three days there :)), and as for why I didn't like working there: They make you do too much work for the wage you get*, and they didn't keep the building air-conditioned, even though it was 85 degrees + outside. (Every day I kept hearing: "Oh, we're still working on getting it fixed". [face_plain] )

    EDIT:

*Too much work = Grilling the burgers (sometimes well over 100+ on my shift) while at the same time having you cook the chicken, sweep the floor, take out trash, stock the freezers, and clean the grill and grill tools. I'd be glad to do that kind of work, but for only $5.35 an hour? No thanks. :p
