    Kirk's death was stupid.

    Spock's death scene is one of the most memorable scenes in movie history. Kirk falls off a cliff. [face_plain]

    "What finally did cause the fight?"--Kirk

    'They called the Enerprise a garbage scowl! Sir."--Scotty
    ----After bar fight with "Old School" Klingons.

    I don't think *** Klingon thing has ever been explained.

    Yes, it has. I think. *** Klingon's of Kirk's time are just a different species of Klingon. It's like a Chihuahua and a St. Bernard.

    No, it's not. They're the same species, just from a less sophisitcated era of television make-up.

    LOL @ Everton.

    Talk about plotholes. I'm scared to guess at the arguements over at the Trek boards.

    I agree with VLM. Kirk's death in Generations was awful. I'm!. Falling. Down. A. Cliff.

    Data had a better death in Nemesis. [face_plain]

    I would like to take this opportunity to ask people not to 'diss' Star Trek: Nemesis... as it is my favourite Star Trek movie.

    Its not my fave Everton but its a good one. I think First Contact was the best TNG movie and then Nemesis. Insurrection was a total waste. Generations wasn't much better.

    my earlier post meant that I liked how they did Data's death. Just hope they don't bring around that B4 character again.

    Insurrection was a total waste.

    Indeed it was. It felt like an episode of the TV show.

    Generations wasn't much better.

    I quite like Generations because it's the last appearance of the Enterprise-D. :)

    my earlier post meant that I liked how they did Data's death. Just hope they don't bring around that B4 character again.

    Yeah, Data's death was good, but it will be totally devalued if B4 ever reappears and assumes Data's role. I see the whole point of Nemesis is that B4 had / has the potential to become Data... (like Shinzon *could* have been Picard)... but because he's a prototype and hasn't had the experiences Data has had, he never could be.

    Let's see: Poor, fair, good, great.

    ST1=Good. V'ger wasn't too bright for such a powerful thing, but I like this one.

    ST2=Great. Simply the best.

    ST3=Good. Bones/Spock chemistry is great in this.

    ST4=I guess I will say good. Make no mistake this is like a B movie, but I like it, it's fun. "One damn minute Admiral."--Spock [face_laugh]

    ST5=I think we all just like to think this one never happened. Poor.

    ST6=Great. This is truly a good movie with a great villain. If not for Kahn, General Chang would be my fav ST villain. Good space battle too.

    "I am as constant as the North Star."--Chang
    "I'd give real money if he'd just shut up!"--McCoy

    ST7=Fair, bad Kirk death.

    ST8=Great. Loved it.

    ST9=Poor.

    ST10= Fair. It was ok. Data went out better than Kirk did for sure.

    I like TNG movies and my favorites are Insurrection and Nemesis.
    Many feel that the botched up death of Kirk ruined Star Trek but I believe the TNG has successfully carried on the tradition by doing the more recent motion pictures.
    I think it was shows like Voyager and Enteprise that tarnished the image of the franchise.
    Deep Space Nine was not much better.

    I agree: ST5: THe Final Frontier. Awful...awful..awful. Thats what happens when Shatner directs and writes.

    I thought ST1 was about 1.5 hour too long.

    Jaina: What did you like about insurrection. I've never heard anyone say they liked it.

    SO anyone know if Romulans live as long as Vulcans? (trying to keep thread slightly on topic)

    Save for Nemesis, which I love, VadersLaMent has pretty much got it down....

    I am reminded of a quote from the Futurama episode 'Where No Fan Has Gone Before':

    Leonard Nimoy: When I directed Star Trek IV, I got a good performance out of Bill because I respected him so much.

    William Shatner: And when I directed Star Trek V, I got a good performance out of me because I respected me so much.

    "also did you know that Mr. spock is the only one of the original cast. in the pilot episode, Leonard Nimoy is the only one from the rest of the Show that's in it. originaly Shatner and everyone else weren't in it........"

    Not true! Majel Barrett (who later married Gene Roddenberry) stared (and/or voiced) in every other series, and a couple of the films, except for Enterprise! In the pilot episode, she was Captain Pike's first officer, but the was dropped in favour of Spock as NBC didn't feel that "society" was ready for a woman to be in such a high powered position. She later returned to the original series as Nurse Christine Chapel. But by the time the first film came around, she was promoted to Chief Medical Officer in McCoy's absence, and then between that and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, she was sent to Earth to be at Starfleet Headquarters in San Fransico - Where you can see her in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

    As for the Romulan question: The Romulan's and the Vulcan's were at one stage the same race. Basically, a cival war broke out, and the over emotional ones (who were refer to as the Romulans) were outcast, and banished. They later formed the Romulan Empire, whereas the Vulcan's were taught to control their emotions by Surak, who bacame the Vulcan's somewhat founding father, around 5000 years before TOS...I think?

    As for what I think of the films:

    Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Yes, it is a slow piece of work, but after the directors cut DVD came out, it made it easier to digest. Not only that, it has one of the best soundtracks you will EVER hear!

    Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - Not only the best Trek film, it is also one of best sci-fi films EVER!!! Fantastically written, brilliantly acted, and such a brilliant story! And Spock's "death" scene...How dignifying is that scene? "I have been, and always shall be...your friend. Live long, and prosper..." GO SEE IT!!! :)

    Star Trek III: The Search for Spock - Okay, the general consensus of Trek films is that the odd numbered ones are crap...Not this one! Good story, if a little contrived. The theft of the Enterprise is good, but the destruction of it is better!

    Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - Funny as hell. Rounds off a brilliant trilogy of films, and delivers a good message!

    Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - Umm, not THAT bad, but not great by any stretch of the immaginiation. Although, it does have some funny lines, like, Kirk to God: "Excuse me, I have a question. What does God need with a Starship?"

    Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - Another great movie, with a brilliant plot. A terrific and fitting ending to one of the most loved series in TV history.

    Star Trek: Generations - Not as bad as what some of the others here have said. It's not great, but you get to see the Enterprise B and D on the big screen, and the destruction of the D is brilliant!!!

    Star Trek: First Contact - Excellent! Not much more to say than that. And the space battle at the beginning of the film, IMO, is better than Return of the Jedi! I just wished it was longer, but to see the U.S.S. Defiant on the big screen, got a HUGE grin out of me!

    Star Trek: Insurrection - Yes, this did play out more like a TV episode, but Berman and Braga wanted to try something different, but didn't quite pull it off. Still, I DO happen to like this one!

    Star Trek: Nemesis - This is a case of you either like it or loathe it, and very rarely do you find someone who thinks it is in between. I am, however, one of those people. Some nice bits, while some parts I wish they just went back to the drawing board. Still it was nice to see the Enterprise E in full action (and appeared to have been beefed up during the Dominion War)

    Now, I have been a Trek fan for 10 years, but I am not a Trek nerd, as I am actually decent looking, and have had girlfriends before. I suppose I am an exception to the norm! :p
