Our Lady Peace sings a song called Thief that is one of my all time favorite songs.

I can't see the thief that lives inside of your head
But I can be some courage at the side of your bed
    And I don?t know what?s happening and I can?t pretend?

I agree with Jorus_Kando on Return to Pooh Corner. I grew up on Disney, so that song is very special to me.

    Other songs...

    Beloved Wife
    by Natalie Merchant

    You were the love
    for certain of my life
you were simply my beloved wife
    I don't know for certain
    how I'll live my life
now alone without my beloved wife
    my beloved wife

    I can't believe
I've lost the very best of me

    you were the love
    for certain of my life
you were simply my beloved wife
    I don't know for certain
    how I'll live my life
now alone without my beloved wife
    my beloved wife

    I can't believe
I've lost the very best of me

    you were the love
    for certain of my life
for 50 years simply my beloved wife
with another love I'll never lye again
    it's you I can't deny
    it's you I can't defy
    a depth so deep
    into my grief
    without my beloved soul
    I renounce my life
    as my right
now alone without my beloved wife
    my beloved wife

    my beloved wife
my love is gone she suffered long
    in hours of pain
    my love is gone
    now my suffering begins
    my love is gone
would it be wrong if I should
surrender all the joy in my life
    go with her tonight?

my love is gone she suffered long
    in hours of pain
    my love is gone
would it be wrong if I should
just turn my face away from the light
    go with her tonight?

I first heard about this song in a SW song-fic, and while I don't think it really fit the story, I did really take to the song.

    Hazard
    by Richard Marx

My mother came to Hazard when I was just seven
Even then the folks in town said with prejudiced eyes
    That boy's not right
Three years ago when I came to know Mary
First time that someone looked beyond the rumors and the lies
    And saw the man inside
We used to walk down by the river
She loved to watch the sun go down
We used to walk along the river
And dream our way out of this town

No one understood what I felt for Mary
No one cared until the night she went out walking alone
    And never came home
Man with a badge came knocking next morning
Here was I surrounded by a thousand fingers suddenly
    Pointed right at me

I swear I left her by the river
I swear I left her safe and sound
I need to make it to the river
And leave this old Nebraska town

I think about my life gone by
    How it's done me wrong
There's no escape for me this time
All of my rescues are gone, long gone

I swear I left her by the river
I swear I left her safe and sound
I need to make it to the river
And leave this old Nebraska town

I'm not sure what it is about this song... it's sweet, and yet so sad... :_|

    Peace on Earth by U2

Heaven on Earth, we need it now
I'm sick of all of this hanging around
Sick of sorrow, sick of the pain
I'm sick of hearing again and again
That there's gonna be peace on Earth

Where I grew up there weren't many trees
Where there was we'd tear them down
And use them on our enemies
They say that what you mock
    Will surely overtake you
    And you become a monster
So the monster will not break you

And it's already gone too far
Who said that if you go in hard
    You won't get hurt?

Jesus can you take the time
To throw a drowning man a line
    Peace on Earth
Tell the ones who hear no sound
Whose sons are living in the ground
    Peace on Earth
    No whos or whys
No one cries like a mother cries
    For peace on Earth
She never got to say goodbye
To see the color in his eyes
    Now he's in the dirt
    Peace on Earth

They're reading names out over the radio
All the folks the rest of us won't get to know
Sean and Julia, Gareth and Ann and Breda
Their lives are bigger than any big idea

Jesus can you take the time
To throw a drowning man a line
    Peace on Earth
To tell the ones who hear no sound
Whose sons are living in the ground
    Peace on Earth
Jesus sing a song you wrote
The words are sticking in my throat
    Peace on Earth
    Hear it every Christmas time
But hope and history won't rhyme
    So what's it worth
    This peace on Earth

    Peace on Earth
    Peace on Earth
    Peace on Earth

    "Take My Hand" is great.

There are several on Lifehouse's debut cd that simply send chills down my spine and put pain in my heart, but the one called "Everything" is the one I connected with first.

And I like the version of "Come What May" from the movie better. The orchestration in a minor key is so much more haunting. You can get boots. of it on Morpheus. :)

Some very good selections on this thread.
Beethoven's 9th is simply the best peice of music ever written.
Instead of repeating what's already been listed I will add:

Feelin' Good Again- Robert Earl Keen. It perfectly captures the feeling of seing old friends again after being gone for a while.

The River- Live version, Bruce Springsteen.

    Mary- Patty Griffin

Goin' Back to Harlan- Emmylou Harris.

To whoever brought it up, the House at Pooh Corner on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album was written by Kenny Loggins, but I do not know which version was recorded first. Although I do know that the NGDB version is much better.

    THE LAST SONG
by Elton John And Bernie Taupin

Yesterday you came to lift me up
As light as straw and brittle as a bird
Today I weigh less than a shadow on the wall
Just one more whisper of a voice unheard.

    Tomorrow leave the windows open
As fear grows please hold me in your arms
Won't you help me if you can to shake this anger
I need your gentle hands to keep me calm

    `Cause I never thought I'd lose
    I only thought I'd win
    I never dreamed I'd feel
    This fire beneath my skin
I can't believe you love me
    I never thought you'd come
    I guess I misjudged love
Between a father and his son

Things we never said come together
The hidden truth no longer haunting me
Tonight we touched on the things
that were never spoken. That kind of understanding sets me free.

    Repeat chorus.

I forgot to mention "Wherever you will go" by The Calling,Bittersweet Symphony, and the theme to Enterprise,"Faith of the Heart". I'm not the Trekkie I once was,and I feel 9/11 has shown that humanity has a long way to go yet before it can reach the ideals of Star Trek, but the images of human exploration mixed with song just gets to me.

It all depends on what I?m thinking about while I?m listening to the song. I will often have my own personal music video playing in my head while I?m listening to certain types of music.

Some of the songs that have aided in creating goosebumps:

Youth Of The Nation by P.O.D.

    The opening theme to Angel

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk

Cure For The Itch by Linkin Park

There are others, but those are the highlights?

"Duel of the Fates" played at high decibel levels always does it for me.

"O Fortuana" from the movie "Glory" is an extremely powerful song, so is everything the Boys Choir of Harlem" sung in that movie. Gives me goosebumps thinking about that music

One that I can't believe has only been mentioned ONCE:

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

    Absolute musical and lyrical perfection.

    Some more:

    Mantra - Tool

    46 & 2 - Tool

There's plenty more, but that's all for now.

The following are all by Simon and Garfunkeel:

    3. Bookends

Those are the 3 that i find most goosebumpy.

I really do shake a bit and get goosebumps from some of the more intense songs in "Jesus Christ Superstar", particularly some of the weirdness played during the crucifixion.
