I'm looking for some decent "buy-out" or domain free sound effects for my feature film. I do have a sound effects library at home, however, I am worried about copyright issues. I've been inventing sound effects at home with my camera mic (Ben Burtt style). That's been going well, however, there are simply some sounds effects that I just can not get -- like desert wind...not unless I take a trip to the desert, etc., and it is more efficient to have the sound FX there, on hand. I know google is my friend, so I'll be googling but if anybody knows of any good collections that are worth buying, well you know the drill........appreciated. Thanks.

    :)

I'm a fan of sounddogs.com they have a huge collection and if nothing else you could take the sound and tweak it in an audio editing prog.

I've been to sound dogs. That was my first choice, but I actually found the main sound effect I needed last night and downloaded it.

Have you tried getting some of the sound effects extraction devices from the TFN Fanfilms pages? If you search through the pages you'll be able to find some software that will allow you to extract many sound effects from the various LucasArts Star Wars games. The good news is, you don't even have to buy the games--you can download DEMOs and rip the sound effects from there. If I had a link handy I'd post it, but search through the post production areas of the main fan films page and you should find it!

You should be able to find all kinds of ambient noises such as breeze or vehicular motion is my guess as well as foley sounds like footsteps, button activations, elevator motion, et cetera. Hope this helps!
