I dont know man - Gwen Stacey as the late entry love interest? I thought for dramatic purposes Raimi just combined the two characters ( Gwen and M.J. ) and for sure M.J. would be killed of in S-M 3. Fans of the original comic are gonna have heart attacks with this move.

Looks pretty good so far... Crowd at SR tonight were into it... Still a little worried about 3 villains, 2 love interests etc., but Raimi won't let Peter/Spidey get lost in the shuffle.

    You're kidding, right?

I find it very strange how in the comics Gwen was Peter's first love, but when she was killed he moved on to MJ. Now, in the movies, MJ is his first love and it looks like he may be moving on to Gwen if MJ doesn't make it out of this one. Personally, I was always pissed that Gwen was left out of the first movie simply because most kids these days didn't know who she was.

Peter wears the black suit first after the Venom symbiote merges with his red one. Starts messing with his mind and he eventually discards the black suit, and it finds it's way into Brock's possession, creating Venom.

So what we're seeing in SM3 is the first part of that story, and the end of the movie will likely have Brock obtaining the suit/symbiote, setting up the actual Venom to feature in SM4.

Yup, this is really part 1 of a 2 part story, and at the same time is part 3 of the Green Goblin story.

BTW, dunno if it's been posted yet, but Bruce Campbell's role is rumoured to be Quentin Beck, a/k/a Mysterio. Groovey

Ties in nicely to an issue of Ultimate Spiderman where they were making the Spiderman movie and Mysterio was played by an actor named "Bruce".

    Wow Darth Lando!

That's crazy! I've never really hit the newer Ultimate series. I'm more of an old schooler, but that's actually pretty cool.

Oh, I agree that it's symbolic...when looked at solely from the shot in the trailer..."What side is he going to choose?"...I definitely like that. But in terms of the story, I can almost assure you (without reading movie spoilers, but being very much familiar with this storyline in the comics) that the suit is aware that Peter is trying to rid himself of it, so it enveloped him during his sleep (just like in the comics, and seen in the trailer), took him out to fight crime whilst unconcious (again, just like in the comics), and Pete wakes up to see his reflection in the building and he's wearing his red suit but it's actually the symbiote working on the "merging" process. *shudders at the creepiness*

This movie is going to rule.

He's also wearing all black clothes...which would suggest that it's the symbiotic suit mimicking real clothes...once again, just like the comics. ;)

I didn't even think of that...the symbiote taking him out to fight crime while in his sleep just like in the comics. That makes perfect sense, based on how he's kinda moving his head around all weird and groggy-like at the beginning of that shot (the early shot in the trailer, when the suit attaches itself to Pete's hand while he's sleeping, further supports this theory) definitely looks like he is just starting to wake up...then he sees his reflection in the window...and the symbiote is showing him that he's wearing the red suit. Good call!

So...when we finally do get to all-out Venom in Spider-Man 4...which one do you think it'll be? Will it be the early, classic McFarlane Venom...the one that doesn't have the huge teeth, huge tongue and slobber...or will it be the more well-known Erik Larson Venom that has all of those attributes? I'd be fine with either...but I think it would be the best if it were the McFarlane version...though I highly doubt that we'll get that version...

I prefer the more modern Venom design- looking back to the original design, it looks kinda silly because he's basicly blacksuit Spidey with a huge smile grinning on the mask.

True, true...but in defense of the original design, it wasn't waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over-the-top like the more modern design. You could take it a little more seriously that way.

That's not to say that I dislike the more modern design, I don't...it's just pretty in your face, I guess...but I still love it....as Venom is easily one of my favorite Spidey foes.

Does anyone know how many trailers there are?

I always thought there was just the one that debuted with Superman, but my friend told me that his friend downloaded two more trailers that featured Venom.

I haven't seen these yet, so I was wondering if you guys have seen/heard of them? Or is my friend's friend just bull****ting?

If you by chance check the official site, there is only one teaser trailer. The others were most likely fan made. I've seen those too and the guy that was in those trailers was something from Spawn I think. Those fan trailers sucked.

The official is pure gold and is the only official trailer.

I think it might be a little premature to be assuming part 4 with part 3 still a year off. Certainly there will be another Spiderman film but I would be shocked if Raimi and even Maguire are a part of it. I personally think theres gonna be somewhat of a let down by introducing Venom in part three, at least the way there doing it ( as the third villian ). They compressed 10 years of Amazing Spiderman in part one and part two and it worked out fine because Raimi really captured the essence but I think it'll have backlash with part 3, at least somewhat. Yeah, Venom will look cool and be scary but I truly think Spiderman fans believe they deserved something more with that particular storyline.

I read a while back that Sony wanted to make Spider-Man the largest movie series--with 9 films.

I also read that Raimi's contract included only 3 movies.

I'm not sure if things have changed by now, though, or if Sony still intends to go for 9 or if Raimi will really be out after 3.

I'm afraid that the film series might go to hell if Raimi leaves. He's a major Spider-Man geek, and that's why these films have been the best comic-to-movie adaptations ever.

Best comic to movie adaptation, ever? Maybe. I think HBO's Spawn is way better but thats not the movies. I agree that without Raimi, SM4 is gonna be a long shot in the quality department and I really do think that it will be a longshot that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire will be a part of it, unless the studio gives full out aesthetic control to Raimi to let him end his saga - which is what it would be at that point - the way he wants to. But really - that would be the biggest longshot of them all.

Ugh...I don't even want to think about the franchise continuing beyond part three without Raimi and Maguire onboard...as it'll all go to hell without those two guys. Hopefully they'll want to come back...

For those who are doubting about Toby & Rami doing SM4, they're filming it right now. They are pulling a Jackson and filming at least 2 movies back-to-back, some rumours suggest 3 movies at once. Keep in mind, as has been pointed out all ready, they began principle photography back in January. That means they've been filming for 6 months straight at this point, which is more than enough for a Spider-Man film. Principle photography usually only takes 3-4 months.

2 movies at once? That's insane.

Jackson did it successfully. But forgive me for rehashing Back to the Future II & III which, in my opinion, was unsuccessful.

I hope this works, and I hope we are not dissapointed. I like the idea of filming both movies because that way you know you can secure all the original actors without having to force them into uncomfortable contracts.

Man I wish this movie was coming out this summer.
