MJ and Ned were debating pushing the button and trying to figure out what to do and Ned motioned his hand and figured out he could use the ring to open the portals and since they hadn't heard from Peter they tried opening a portal to find Peter and they did....just not the one they were expecting.

Another thing I loved is how this trilogy basically forms Tom’s origin story. He’s just now had his Uncle Ben moment and at the end he finally has the classic Spidey suit. Hand made and everything!

Now that the movie is out in America as of today, I’ll be interested to see if American audiences respond differently to it.

He also got one hell of a dose of “Parker luck”

He’s basically been ‘Brand New Day’d’
No MJ. No Ned. No Happy. No May.

But, No Avengers? - That’s the only one that might be different. Because clearly “Spider-Man” is still known. So, do the Avengers still know “Spider-Man”? Well, Doctor Strange doesn’t. We think at least. What about Wong though? We assume not.

Here’s where it gets trippy though: The spell was originally for the world. Then the Multiverse. But, was it for the multiverse of Earth or the entire universe? If not, Nick Fury is due back from space and Carol Danvers is out there. So… do they know? Thor? Peter?

How awesome would it be if Carol showed up briefly and said “Hey Peter Parker” while he was dressed as Spider-Man? Granted, he’d probably really want a hug just having someone know who he was.

Also…Peter needs a job to pay rent. Not even sure where he got the money for the place he has at the end. Is JJJ hiring? :p

MCU Peter not mentioning a tragic death for Uncle Ben when the other two Peter's bring it up as their defining moment leads me to wonder how exactly Ben died in this universe. I guess it must have been a freak accident or a disease, since MCU Peter doesn't seem to have been indirectly responsible for whatever happened. As a side effect of that, MCU Peter's decision to become Spider-Man really is predicated on just wanting to help people, probably inspired by the world of superheroes he's grown up in and his hero worship of Tony Stark.

Saw it last night. Really enjoyed it.

Loved that it's essentially an origin story for Tom Holland's Spidey. I'm excited to see where he goes from here. Also: "I'm a really great lawyer".

Spider-Man is definitely poised to bank bank. That's bank used first as a verb for collecting revenue and then as a noun in a metonymical substitution for "money." The point is nothing will be allowed to stand in the way of Marvel fans and their moviegoing. Neither omicron nor Marvel fatigue will interfere with its inevitability. My son just finished his penultimate high school semester, more or less (less) and is even now on his way out the door with friends. It reminds me of May of 1983 when I was a senior and we all stood in line for Return of the Jedi, that era's most critic-proof franchise installment.

Please nobody spoil the movie for me. I want to be surprised if there are multiple Spider-men.

my son is fully vaxxed and has a N-95 mask with him, so apart from the fact that he'll likely have it off the entire run time while he eats popcorn, I don't have extremely high anxiety levels about him going to a packed movie theater the day before we fly to another state for the holidays.

The movie is clearly titled a Spider-Man movie... Why would anyone be expecting a Spider-Men movie? [face_dunno]

Not enough talk in this thread about Eddie and Venom's romance for my liking.

Anyways, finally grabbed some NWH tickets. Seeing it tomorrow.

The Sam Raimi trilogy are actually the only Spidey movies I've revisited recently - I just went through them again a couple months back, and tend to revisit them every couple years or so. Raimi's one of my favorite filmmakers, so it's always fun when I sit down to revisit these, even the maligned Spider-Man 3 (which, for all of its many faults, at least feels like a movie where you can really tell Raimi is trying to do something neat, and his style oozes out of so much of it despite Sony being Sony about it all). I haven't seen TASM since its midnight release in 2012, and I was so bored to tears by how sterile and lazy a reboot it was that I never even bothered with the sequel. I saw Homecoming in the theater, and revisited it at home before catching Far From Home in the theater, but haven't seen either of them since FFH's theatrical run.

I actually enjoyed Let the Be Carnage once I accepted it was going to be closer to the Marvel Fox films of old. The “breakup” was hilarious and I generally just agreed with everything Venom said.

Although Andy Serkis really wasn’t one for subtlety “I am out of the Eddie closet!”

The first Venom movie works for me because it's just awful, crass, Sony doing their awful, crass, "gotta build a Spidey universe without Spidey" shtick but somehow, despite all of that, Tom Hardy tackled it with a dash of sincerity and love for what he was doing that just kind of made all of the garbage extraneous stuff feel exactly that: extraneous. Venom is a very bad movie, but endearing in a way that I think only Hardy really understood that it could be. His performance feels at odds with the movie at every turn. The movie is like a train crash with this fascinating beating heart at its center.

Let There Be Carnage worked as well as it did because it basically just stripped the Sonyness of it all, got Hardy on to help crack the story, and structured the entire movie around Hardy's manic, energized performance this time, with Eddie and Venom's domestic issues taking center stage. It's just a 90 minute rush to the finish line and everyone is chewing the scenery along the way there.

More space goo rom-com movies please, Sony.

The only thing that can top that for me is a live action Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.

    It was spectacularly amazing!!!

That was excellent. We even had the now cliche ending visit to a cemetery. Basically this entire trilogy is set emotionally in the first 30ish minutes 2001’s Spider-Man. I really enjoyed five appearances of Spider-Man without guilt. He could have fun and not feel the witchy of great responsibility.

So I just got home from seeing No Way Home. It’s still sinking in.

The characters are great in this. They playoff each other in amusing and unexpected ways.

As the movie goes on it becomes clear it’s a COVID movie. I mean a movie shot under the physical distancing restrictions of COVID. What might be limitations this film turns into strengths. We get a largely character driven film contained to New York. Lots of smaller scenes with characters interacting. Anyway it’s a Marvel movie which uses lots of green screen anyway. So it doesn’t standout.

What’s still sinking in for me is the larger story beyond the thrill of the returning characters.

Venom’s bit was really funny to me. He spent the entirety of dimensional travel at a bar.

    So I saw the film

honestly what made the movie was how good the chemistry was between the villains and then later how good the chemistry was between the Spider Men. Tobey was the subdued, content Spiderman while Andrew was the charming, trying to prove himself Spiderman and they really played to their strengths here.

It was the most packed and enthusiastic theater audience I was with since Endgame. Lots of cheering and laughs from the crowd. I didn't stay during the end credits.

I could swear further Spider-Man MCU movies were already confirmed. Is this new news? Or is it the news that work on the 4th movie is now active.

I don’t remember seeing Spider-Man will return at the end of this.

It’s not really a surprise that a fourth film is being developed given the clear sequel setup in the post-credit scene and the fact that Peter has basically just now come into his own as a hero.
