The Marvel wiki designated Peter B from Earth-616B and Spider-Gwen from Earth-65B which keeps their comic book universe numbers but ads a letter (ie. Peter B) to make their movie universe different. Just nobody in Spider-Verse bothered to say the letter at the end

Okay but the films that are actually in the MCU have designated the MCU as Earth-616. The argument against it is basically let’s put our fingers in our ears and ignore what the actual filmmakers are telling us.

They literally don’t mean anything, it’s a joke from Captain Britain (the joke being the Marvel Universe is not Earth-1 the way you would expect, and that it’s a hell world because superheroes suck) that has gone way, way too far. In what I can only describe as the ultimate irony considering which thread this is, there’s a joke in a recent issue of Spider-Man about how only the Captain Britain corps cares about the dumb numbers.

And them choosing that number doesn’t make the MCU the same universe as the comics.

I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying. When I say the same universe all I mean is they’re both 616. That’s a fact. Now that doesn’t mean that the MCU is occurring in the comic book world. That’s obviously not happening. The MCU is an adaptation of the comics meaning they’re telling the same(ish) story just in different mediums. Like the Jurassic Park movie is trying to tell the same story as the Jurassic Park book but there are obvious differences and in some cases massive differences.

Some folks want the MCU to in the same multiverse as the comics but that’s not what it is. Now I think the reason why Feige wants to use the 616 designation is obvious. It’s the one most fans associate as the main Marvel universe so when he calls the MCU 616 he’s saying it’s the main Marvel universe not Earth-1999999.

There's different Earth designations between the live action and the comics.

In 2013, DC designated this as Earth-1.

But in 2015, the CW designated this as Earth-1.

It's not a big deal and it acknowledges the DC Multiverse.

Well to take the wide view, Peter 2 Eddie Brock/Venom, and Peter 3 are all in No Way Home. They and their universes and characters are also all in Across the Spider-Verse. Both film series have different designations of the MCU. Alt Christine Palmer and Mysterio (but he lies so how the hell would he know) called it Earth-616, Miguel called it Earth-199999. So nobody agrees on the numbers since 616 applies to two completely different universes and Spider-Mans (Peter B vs Doctor Strange and the little nerd)

Oh so it's like half of Star Wars lore. "oh yes, the Jedi were around for over 1000 generations, which is about 25,000 years, let's use that exact number in all our sourcebooks", or "Yoda is exactly 900 years old when he dies, he definitely wasn't making a glib comment to Luke".

And it would take a thousand ships to blow up Alderaan. 999 couldn't do it, and 1001 would be overkill.

Yeah it’s actually somewhat maddening if you read the (extremely good) Alan Moore storyline where it comes up because it’s so clearly a couple of writers taking the piss about the entire idea of numbering the multiverse DC style and it somehow has metastasized into this whole thing. It’s like if you went back to read the oldest issues of Amazing Spider-Man and discovered Steve Ditko never drew any wavy lines because “spider sense” was just a sarcastic joke Stan Lee made once.

That’s not the case but I hope somebody who hasn’t read the Lee/Ditko run nearly had a panic attack.

Only in the first two stories. In ASM #2, he did have them and it took a while longer to actually call them that.

Madame Web will be the longest SSU film to date. Which normally wouldn't be that noteworthy, other than it will still be under 2 hours. Though Kraven and Venom 3 haven't had their runtimes revealed yet, it does kinda contextualize how they keep these things moving.

That's not a good sign. How much Amazonian spider research can be accomplished in less than two hours?

Was thinking about the new Ultimate Spider-Man and this

Anyway Aunt May is dead here, instead. I guess Tom Holland's Little Nerd from Earth-199999 gets the short end with dead parents and aunts and uncles.

Probably the most isolated Peter Parker on the Arachno Humanoid Poly Multiverse (aside from Spider-Man Reign who killed MJ with love and all those post-apocalyptic Spider-People, like Cyborg Spider-Woman and the Spider-Wars)

Deleted scene, was entirely jettisoned for a different scene in the movie but the most Cyborg Spider-Woman we got

"I remember friends. Before the Spider-Wars!!" is such a amazing line I wish they had kept it

    If, true…

Well, that would explain the “2005 comic book movie vibe”.

It'll be interesting to see JJJs reaction to Spider-Man but some things change but other things like JJJ thinking Spider-Man is a Menace should remain. Or maybe its Ben this time!

Anyway MCU Peter also lost his mentor Tony Stark so that's like 5 surrogate parents. He better stay away from making friends with any daughters of police captains!

Johnson was on Tonight Show and repeatedly said Madame Web was a "standalone superhero universe" and in 2003 and Spider-Man will not be in the movie (Peter 2 was around in 2003! Just saying!). Doesn't exactly sell a ticket but I'm going anyway for the multiple repeat deaths, Ezekiel and Spider-Ladies. There's a clip here anyway at the end.

Anyway I watched No Way Home yet again as it got added to Netflix Canada and the digital version I bought on Prime Video (two of them!) were only in HD and I didn't want dig out the disc (that's 3 versions I bought and have 3 digital copies, one is the extended version to be fair) and on Netflix it is in 4k. Also this will never stop being amazing

(Tom Holland starring Uncharted added at the same time is higher on Netflix than NWH. Sometimes I don't understand the world)
And I skipped to the end of the extended version for the post-credit scene that I really wish had been in the movie

Also some fun spider-facts, Tom Hollander got sent Tom Holland's rather large bonus cheque for Avengers, and according to Netflix the most watched Spider-Man out of all of them was Tobey Maguire 59+ million hours!
