Amph Spider-Man & SSU Films (Friendly Neighborhood, Spider-Noir, "S-M4", Beyond the Spider-Verse)

Madame Web is my favourite of those three because it actually has Spider-People in it. Then Kraven due to goon splatter, Some corny yuks, Rhino and Chameleon. Morbius the least but it has Matt Smith as the best thing about it.

Anyway this side verse may be "dead" but I still think there's a slim chance we get a passing reference/follow up to any of them in a Spider-Verse film

 

I think they slipped in an 11th Doctor joke in Morbius because of him. His character was asked how he felt out of 10, and he said 11, if I remember correctly.

The funny thing is, most of the actors in this Sony-verse probably would have a done a decent job in an MCU Spider-Man movie.
Because Marvel Studios gets it, Sony clearly do not.

 

Even if it was decent, nobody was going to give it a chance after the crap that was Morbius & Madame Web (and Venom to an extent).

I mean for god's sake, how hard was it to just do this?

(Having only seen trailers I already want Friendly Neighourhood Spider-Man to join Gwen's band in Beyond the Spider-Verse. Speaking of which the reel mentions the animation as "A comic book come to life" which uh yah we've already seen Spider-Verse but this definitely looks distinct from that)

Well, I saw Kraven because friends wanted to see it and I can say that there were zero redeemable moments. Every single scene was utter trash.

 

Watched Kraven the Hunter again, this time on digital purchase (PrimeVideo Canada only allows HD purchases of Sony stuff, boo). There's still a bunch of stuff I dig, Performances of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Russell Crowe, the bits of gory carnage, action scenes, an actual freaking Miles Warren reference (!), the two minutes of Chameleon, the corny all over the film, guy who plays Rhino is fascinating with his performance choices. But Dear God why is this movie over 2 hours? They couldn't hack 40 minutes out of it after sitting on a shelf for a year? The flashback is 26 freaking minutes!!! Also the Foreigner goddamn sucks, like just awful

 

They could have made the whole flashback a voice over montage easy, over in 5 minutes tops

changed how Peter got his powers. Ok still spider bite, but the spider came from another "dimension/multiverse" through a portal that Dr. Strange opened while fighting som sort of demon in front of a lot of teenagers. Add this to the race swapping thing

and there will be a lot of controversy in this show.. Rest assured.

 

Wait, what race-swapping does it do? I might have missed that if it was an earlier story.

Ok cool, I did see that. I hope that is something people are ok with, and they do it respectfully throughout the season. I was afraid it might be making Robbie Robinson white, when so many of his stories revolved around racial justice and inequality so his race being white would just make him a completely different character, especially as one of the few non-white recurring characters in original Spider-man stories.

I’ll watch the show soon. Despite the voice actor’s weird comment, I hope it’s good, curious to read what others here think when I come back to the thread after watching it.
