Personally, I found Spider-Man to come out on top of all the Marvel movies so far.

Spider-man's webslinging effect was just great to watch, the story was a bit hokey, but eh, it's comics, I'll let it go. THough my biggest complaint about the movie is Spidey didn't crack enough jokes. Other than that, I liked the movie a lot.

X-men 1 was a nice, novel approach to a comicbook film. And I did enjoy it, but I found I can watch Spider-Man more times than I can watch X-men 1.

X-men 2 bugged me. First they had this great character of Nightcrawler, and barely used him. And he was one of the "Gotta see this movie for this character!" characters. Then, the movie didn't seem like it wanted to end. Because it was great up until a certain point. Then it just nose dived, and then didn't want to stop. A few of the "physics" of the movie annoyed me too. (Wolverine has METAL all on the outside of his skeleton... soooo why did that bullet fall out, when it never shoulda been in there to start with?)

Daredevil is... a strange feel. First, I'm not a follower of the DD comic so I thought the movie was pretty bad when I saw it. But then, once I saw the special features on the DVD, I realized they pulled heavily for the comic. Which earned the movie respect in my eyes, but it still just wasn't for me. It wasn't *bad*, just...not for me.

Hulk... Hulk violated me. I hated that movie. I have only ever gotten lost at a film one time, and I was 5. But the Hulk found ways to lose me at least twice. The plot was simple, but it got through it speedy enough until that ending. That ending was a complete rip from Godzilla 2000 (I'm not kidding, watch it, you'll see I'm not making this up!). The effects were great, and I think the movie did better than the show, but that's not saying much. Bad movie, no donut. I want to groin kick Ang Lee badly.

I remember the fan flick. Yeah, from an eye-candy standpoint, it was pathetic. Given the severe budget limitations, they actually did a good job using camera angles and what not to create the illusion of what was needed.

As for the high$ studio productions:
Xmen I expected to be utterly horrible--a bad combination of Mystery Men and some other awful movie that came out about the same time--and I was surprized that it was actually pretty good.

Spiderman was pretty weak. Considering they were cramming 10 years of comic history into 2 hours, it was ok, but still weak. After the success that was X-men, Spiderman relied on too much CGI and fricken Danny Elfman's soundtrack to be cool.

Daredevil was just awful. Total failure of suspension of disbelief. Totally untrue to the flavor of the comic. Trust Matt Damon to to make a superhero Boring! Colin Ferrel was at best, mild comic relief. The best part of the movie was Electra.

X2 was fun, but the ending needed work. Fight between Wolverine and Deathstrike was way too short to be satisfying. Other parts of the ending were too drawn out. Obvious set-up for the sequel.

Hulk: Ang Lee sucks. Sorry, I know I've offended a lot of people with that, but he does. Watch HongKong cinema and you'll see. CTHD was boring as hell, and was considered such in Hong Kong and China. Why? because there was nothing new or interesting in it. Americans, on the other hand, have virtually no experience with wire-fu, and are thrilled to bit by it. They think that Ang Lee is the greatest thing ever. Well, he isn't. Matrix was not a deep philisophical movie, unless you've spent no time thinking philisophically. To a kindergardener, 2nd grader's homework seems hard. To a 7th grader, it's insulting. The Matrix is a mediocre cyberpunk movie, which had the backing of a major studio; that is it's only unique aspect.

    And I'm getting way off-topic.
Watch GGLS: it's pretty darn good, considering.

I interviewed Dan Poole for FFX ages ago. Ill see if i can find it....

Ok, I DID, and its VERY old. Like, before the Spiderman movie came out kinda old.

    Anyway. enjoy

Hi all! It?s Scream Man here! I just had the chance to chat over AIM to Dan Poole, Creator, writer and nutcase of ?Spiderman: Green Goblins Last Stand? He?s a cool guy, and as a fellow comic nut, we got on great!

FFX: Hi Dan! Thanks for the interview!

Dan: No problem. I am constantly amazed by the ongoing support and enthusiasm toward this 8 year old video.

First off, what made you choose this particular Spiderman story?

I was in the process of putting together a series of fight scenes with a number of Spidey villains. As I got re-familiar with the story line of the ultimate show down between our hero and the Goblin, it became something I really wanted to see done from the beginning.

What?s the Spidey suit made of, and did you have trouble breathing and seeing in the mask?

A turtleneck and stirrup pants - cotton - and VERY tough to see at times!

Did it take long to make?

The original costume took about a week to make as my mother and I figured out how to put together a mask and gloves.

Do you still wear it around the house?

    Only on weekends.

What was your favorite stunt to do?

The swing under the bridge. I LOVED it. It felt great, looked great?

What about any you weren't happy with?

Stunt wise? Definitely the cable system we tried for the Goblin/glider shots. We just couldn't get it to work right. VERY frustrating and we never even got a shot of him in the air with it.

Did you ever think of using Computer effects for any of the shots, instead of live stuff?

In 1992????? NO, I had a tough enough time getting a camera!!! I'd love to now, though. But we didn?t have that 8 stinkin' years ago!

Would you re-make parts of the film?

Not that one. Not unless I was paid! If you're asking if I'd like to see it be better, or if I could make it better now - yeah!

Are you still happy with the film?

Well, I'm still proud of it. Happy? Yeah, for what it was made with, yes. $400 and just a bunch of guys from Baltimore? Sure!

So tell me about this Documentary. (shameless plug time Dan!)

?The Making of ?The Green Goblin?s Last Stand?? is an answer to interviews just like this one where fans of the video sit and wonder just where in the world this thing came from. We have interviews with the core gang of friends that it took to make it happen as well as out takes and some behind the scenes footage. It?s looking pretty cool. I?m hoping it will be ready for mass consumption in early February.
(Screams note: I cant find this doco, so if it ever went up online, I dunno where it is)

Do you keep in contact with the other actors? I know I wouldn?t lose Gwen's number!

I lost track of her, and then ran into her just before Christmas and asked her to participate in the documentary. She gave me such attitude about being a professional actress now and not doing anything for no money! Incredibly arrogant. I guess her career is going so well that she couldn?t use any free press or more exposure of any kind, huh?

What about the Goblin? That guy had me scared at times!

Jimi Kinstle is incredible. His wife, Joan Weber, is actually heading up the documentary. Jimi helped me write my new script, too. Very talented guy! He worked hard on the Green Goblin character! I made him watch the old Spidey cartoons from the 60's to get the voice and he nailed it.

What about another Spidey film? Would u do it, what with the "Official" picture on its way?

Nah, I've got to move on to my own characters. I am somewhat disappointed not to be working on the Sony one, that would have been cool and that's the only reason GGLS got made in the first place!

But hypothetically: If you were going to make another, what would the story be?

Hmmmm. You know I did 3 before that one, don't you? 2 originals and one from A

I've always wanted to see this fanfilm but could never find it...

    Glad it's being rereleased.

And I loved the Spider-Man movie. I don't know, I just thought it was good. And the dialogue was supposed to be corny--it's a freaking comic book movie!

OK, I have read several good reviews of this film from last time it was on the web, and have been wanting to see it for a long time. Now that it's been rereleased on the web, I finally got my opportunity.

I must say, that was one fun fanfilm.

I'll focus on the negatives first and get them out of the way. First of all, there was some shakey camera, some poor sound quality, a few slightly fake-looking props and effects, and the acting wasn't always perfect. But, I'm not one to judge, as these problems have probably plagued every freaking production I've ever made.

On the positive side, there were some very cool stunts and some great effects, and, overall, it was a pretty good adaptation of the story. I enjoyed it quite a bit. :D

Awesome... I am glad you liked it. As you mentioned any production has its good and bad content. I must remind you that this was filmed with a VHS camera and back in 1992 :)

So all in all for it's time and what Dan had avaliable to him I loved it. But yea it had it's bad points.

The good points really did outshined the bad though ;)

I genuinely enjoyed that :)(which cant be said for hollywoods effort ).
I thought the Green Goblin was great ,more like i remembered him from the comics(which i read about 15-20 years ago),unlike the power ranger baddie that hollywood fobbed us off with.
Spiderman seemed to be more of mix between the comic & cartoon Spidey(with a dash of the original movie version thrown in for good measure, though that couldbe due to the web that was used)
The dialogue was at times was a bit cheesy but then i think that makes it better in a film like this. The dialogue in the comics & cartoons was very cheesy at times.
Some pretty good stunts and camera work (though a little shakey at times).
Was good to see a they didn't hold back on the fight scenes .Though i would suggest that anyone who was going to show this to their kids to watch it first.

    All in all a great effort. :) :) :)

    Edit:

    HAHAHAHAHA.

Did you guys think the resolution of the film was good?, or did you want a even higher one?

The reason why I mention that is I got a msg from a guy on our msg board saying the quality was crap. I informed him that it was filmed back in 1992 with a VHS camera, so the quality is not AMAZING to begin with. There is no pleasing everyone hahahaha.

Then you gotta be just looking for something to complain about. Seeing this, the time frame it's done, the "heart" behind it, the physical commitment (how many other films have people swingin' from buildings?!). This is a great Fan film. The actors portray their roles better than that old Spider-man tv show (not the Cartoon, the live-action one, and I can't judge the cartoon vs this. I only ever saw 1 episode). To say "I didn't like anything" is just not possible. Whether your a spider-man fan or not, whether your a comics fan or not, whether you just like movies or not, you still have got to love some of these elements this fan film had.

    Well done. VERY well done.

As for the resolution thing, I found it acceptable. Especially considering it's orginal source. Hheheh maybe ya want to send it over to ILM for a quick film scrub? I'm sure they can make it better than before. heheh

Nothing at all? I find that difficult to believe. If you didn't like the plot, storyline, or dialogue, you must not be a Spider-Man fan, as it was pretty much straight from the comics, and if that's the case, why'd you watch it anyway?
