Spiderman 2 Discussion Thread

Now I'm not sure if SM2 has been officially confirmed yet but with the success of the first film there will undoubtedly be a second.
Here we can discuss anything that you think will be in SM2.
What new villians will we see?
Will Tobey Maguire be ok to return as Spiderman?

 

I've heard that Spiderman 2 is featuring two villians instead of one.
The villians I have heard to be in it are Doctor Octopus and the Lizard.
Personally I don't like the idea of having more than one villian in the same movie

 

The Lizard and Dr.Octopus are in the second Spider-Man. There were rumors of the Black Cat but she won't be in it. Tobey may not be Spider-Man because of his hibernated disc in his back. The guy who played Homer in October Sky might play Spider-Man if Tobey doesn't.

 

I sure hope tobey does continue to be spiderman, I mean when Mike keaton didn't play batman anymore i felt that the movies really sucked! anywho what about kingpin, will he be in it? and if so who will play him?will it be the kingpin from daredevil?

Apparently, from what I understand, those rumors of Tobey having back problems were either completely false or stretched. He seems to be having no problems with filming.

 

I agree one villian per picture is fine. Two at best, but no more, and definately not two of the "A" list villains at the same time. This is the thinking that has all but ruined the Batman franchise. Doc Oct is my bet, and he is definately a story to himself. In actuality he probably should have been the first villian spidey went up against, but no complaints with the first movie other than the eradication of Gwen Stacy.

 

I can't wait for Spider-man 2. I loved the first one, even though it was quite over-rated.

About Felicia Hardy and the villians: imdb.com has Felicia Hardy listed in the cast credits. So it seems she will most definitely be in the movie.

And Doctor Otto Octavius and Dr. Curt Conners (The Lizard) will both be in the film.

Hmmm... and since it seems half of you didn't even know that Spider-man 2 was filming yet, I wonder if anyone of you heard about that possible spoiler last week............

Superherohype.com had a scanned newspaper prop from the new film that said "Spider-man ditches old threads" with a picture of his costume laying on the ground. A caption underneath the picture that said "Photo by Eddie Brock."

Well, to me this sounds like they're already introducing the Venom story arc, and it looks like we'll see Spider-man in the black suit by the end of SM2. I'm surprised at how fast they introduced Venom (if this true) and Carnage, because Jake Gyllenhaal of Donnie Darko and The Good Girl is supposedly playing Carnage.

 

I know Tobey will be Spiderman, because I was watching MTV's "Movie House" and they had an interview with him, and he was answering questions about how he's enjoying working on it, and how much he wants to see the final copy.

As for villans. I dunno. We all know that if there is a Spiderman 3, the villan will definatly be the Green Goblin again, but not the father, the son Henry. And for this one...eh. I don't like the idea of the lizard, but Dr. Octopus is good. What about Venom? I've always liked Venom.

 

And thank God that Tobey is still going to be Spider-Man still. I am so glad that was only a rumor about his back.
He fits the part so well, and people had said the Black Cat was a rumor, I'm glad to hear that she'll be in it too!
Boo ya! Yeah it comes out in theaters May 7, 2004, I've known this date forever.
It's going to be great when it comes out!

 

Well, I tried to look at that picture, but Sony has asked them to remove it. That either means it's real or they want us to think it is.

 

Hmmm...intersting casting list by imdb.com. Heard about most of it, except for Felicia Harding. And do note, there's no mention of Black Cat, only Felicia Harding. So I dare say we won't be seeing Black Cat yet in 'Spider-Man 2'. BTW, the actress is quite young, compared to Maguire who'll be 30 in three years.

Glad to see Franco back as Harry Osborn. Loved his potrayal of Harry in the first movie, hell i think both Osborns, Norman (Green Goblin) and Harry, stole the show I'm looking forward to see further development of his character, especially since one of his last lines in the first movie was "Spider-man will pay..."

Ah, but that would clearly be for Spider-Man 3! For this one...yup, looks like both Doc Ock and the Lizard. Remains to be seen if they could handle it well. I thought Burton handled both Penguin and Catwoman well in 'Batman Returns', but as the Schumacher movies would show, having two villains at once could suck as well. Guess the director and his writers would have to work really hard to pull this off.

I don't know whether this could be better than the first Spidey movie (which I absolutely love, despite my hatred of Marvel ) but I'll settle for a decent sequel.

Only Doctor Octopus is going to be a villain in this movie. He's being played by Alfred Molina.

Geez, reading this thread is like being back in time about 5 months ago.

 

The Lizard is listed in that imdb page. Perhaps this movie is just an origin story for him (to set up the next movie?), while the main villain is just Doc Ock??? Or it's simply another case of imdb.com screwing up!

 

I think its a case if them screwing up. Felicia (as far as i know) isn't in the movie either).

He was in the cartoons and the comic books. He won't be in the Spidey movies. You can see him in Daredevil though.

'Course, a pal of mine suggested that Eliza Dushku should have the role. A much better suggestion, but then again, I could be biased

Yeah! Tobey is about ten years older than she is! It'll generate protest not seen since 'Lolita'!

BTW, Felicia is supposed to be about the same age as Pete Parker, no? Don't know much about the character other than what I saw in Saturday morning cartoons a looong time ago. The whole Black Cat thing sounds awfully familiar to another female feline character Sheesh, American males must have some sort of feline fetish about women or something

 

IMDb has two people playing Dr. Curt Conners/Lizard, and one is Bruce Campbell. Something must be wrong here. I would like to see Campbell play the part, so here's hoping.

 

Kingpin was in the cartoons of Spider-Man but he's not going to be in the movie. It'd be cool if they did but they don't. I thought who played in Jurassic Park was going to be Dr.Octopus, oh well, it should be cool.

 

The second Spider-Man had wrapped filming I thought and was slated for a summer 2004 release. I heard rumors of Tobey Maguire quitting temporary for some reason or another, but he decided to come back.

Stanton Barrett, who is a driver in the Busch Series gave an interview saying to FX before the race that he is a stunt double for the Green Goblin and that after tonights race he is to fly back to work on Spider-Man 2. He said that he's already been hanging off the side of a building.

 

I heard that the movie will open with one villain this time around, kinda like a mini-adventure that opens up most James Bond movies before the opening credits roll. SPider Man takes him out, and then the movie itself more or less introduces a new villian to the mix.

I would like to see several villains introduced before they do a SINISTER SIX movie.

Can you imagine how cool Venom will look if they ever get to it?

 

I don't care about Venom looking "kewwwwl", he's a lame character. End of story. There was a time when he was decent, but that time is long long gone. I would rather see the Rocket Racer converted to movie form before i see Venom on the big screen.

Am i the only actual Spider-Man fan in this thread?
